Gary Cuozzo was Unitas backup. I believe Unitas had tendonitis, Cuozzo had a broken something or other. Matte played with the plays taped to his arm- first any has done that.
Here some real Colts' history! http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2005-12-25/sports/0512240186_1_colts-tom-matte-wristband

very good 12 year career but not great , best known for 3 TDS Vs Browns in NFL champ game in year they lost to Jets in SB but in that SB game he set a still record 10+ yards per carry, but only carried the ball 11 or 12 times
was also good as kickoff returner and receiver out of the backfield but was no Lenny Moore
he also subbed rarely as ER QB when Unitas and whomever was his backup that year both were out
Tossed his name out there for all you youngsters who believe Colts history began in the 80's. :^) Matte (The "Garbage Can" running back) was a warrior in his day.

Tom Matte.

Hmm. He was a day late releasing this.

As all of us know, cross-era comparisons are fun...but not necessarily meaningful. I am a Colts fan because of #19. He was very special in his day. In the intervening years, there have been many great ones. Only one actually struck fear in Bill Belichick.

Photoshop #19 in...then you have something.

Nice. All I read was "Dwayne Allen out..." Nothing "out" of the ordinary there.

If Smith is there, take him. If Smith is gone and Spence is there, take him. Other than that BPA (non WR). Id be ok with an O-lineman/D-Lineman.
"Non WR." C'mon man. LOLOL

After three 11-5 seasons and having Luck as the QB I don't think any of us needs to temper out optimism. As long as we can stay healthy there is no reason not to be highly optimistic. We have an off year that was due to a number of things. After taking three steps forward and one step back It's time to step forward once again.
And that, sir, is tempered optimism. LOLOL

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, folks. Optimism is ok...but, tempered optimism is the wiser choice. IMO.

Thought about it.
Laughed about it.
Forgot about it.

Wonder what the club seats cost this year, I'm on the club waiting list, (I'm #639 wooo) and because in 2012 they started club seats on 3 year contracts, they are all expiring this year, they said they expect a lot of contracts to not be renewed so I'll be able to get in this season, but who knows.
I bought a club seat (didn't even realize that's what it was, LOL) for the Colts-Jets playoff game (Peyton's last as a Colt). What a great seat it was- and the club access? Woot!

I always think what could have been had either Corey Simon or Booger McFarland been able to stay healthy. I still can't believe that era ended with only one Super Bowl. Either way, I'll always look back on those years fondly. I was at a very impressionable age and was fortunate enough for my family to have season tickets. I doubt I'll ever love football and the NFL more than I did during those years.
Felt the same way when John Unitas left.

Hmmm. Alabama players.

Isn't the sample size just a touch too small to say that Dorsett was a wasted pick?
Spot on.

I wasn't on the o line bandwagon as much until THIS season. Now I get it, oh boy do I. We killed both Luck and Hasselbeck.
I would be happy with drafting nothing but o line lol.
Pass rush can wait........I am not as worried. People have been screaming about pass rush more often on forums since the 2007 Giants.
And Whitehurst....

Is this the same Carolina team the Colts almost beat with their backup QB?
Luck was the QB for that game. I was there. :^)

Zonas D is not in the same league as Denver , Manning seems to always face a high powered NFC team with the exception of the superbowl against the bears. The Saints coming right after Katrina with so much momentum there was no way he was winning that was a team of destiny, then the Seahawks that year they werein their prime it would be hard to find a handful of teams in history that could have beat that seattle team, now superman and this crazy offence with an outsanding defence. Peyton is going to need to pull out all the stops for this one if he wants to walk away a champ, i wouldnt be surprised if they pull it out, is this not what elway sayd he was going to do, send peyton in to the sunset with a championship. i believe it and will be cheering for the Broncos in 2 weeks
You're joking. Indy had that game in the bag. Caldwell and Hank Baskett cost the game.

Yes, this feels like the game could get away from Denver, and certainly NOT because of the Broncos defense.
But two years ago, Peyton was enjoying an MVP type year, a Hall of Fame type year, and he got worked in the SB by Seattle.
Carolina clearly has a great defense, and Peyton is only a shell of what he was two years ago. This feels like things could get out of hand. If it stays close, it's because of that great Denver defense.
I hope for a good game. Always want that. But certainly fear a blow-out.
The entire Denver offense got worked. Remember the first hit put on a Denver receiver? It was brutal and made them afraid to catch a pass.

Most of the media I follow all say the 70's Steelers had some of the greatest Defenses ever and had a stacked team but when it comes to Bradshaw I rarely hear him in any Greatest ever QB discussions. It's always Montana/Brady/Unitas/Elway/Marino/Favre/Peyton in most discussions. Is it right, probably not but I have always found it odd how most people always put Montana and Brady 1 and 2 based on Rings mainly and never mention Bradshaw.
TB didn't get the respect he deserved during his playing days. In fact, I remember him being made fun of early on. Folks thought he was a bit slow on the uptake. He fooled them all.
