Anyone catch what Hilton did after Logan Ryan intercepted the pass? Instead of running after Ryan Hilton turned his back on him to complain to the official. Not good.

Saw that too. Should have chased first and then complained. The refs weren't going to throw a flag based on complaining.

I don't care if he ever returns one. He catches the damned thing. I don't find myself holding my breath with Chester back there. It seems that most decent returns are negated by a penalty, anyway.

Totally agree with your post. When Rogers does actually return one, if there is no flag for an illegal block in the back it's a real surprise.

In 2017 Brissett thew for over 300 yards twice.

In Tom Brady's first full year he threw for over 300 once.

In Ben Roethlisberger's first year he threw for 300 once.

    Russell Wilson ... none.

    Imagine that.

Wow...pretty interesting point. Thanks for sharing. I think the Colts youth with Cain and Campbell is a factor on holding down the passing yards as well.

  4. it would kill me if Minshew turned out to be a 6th round Tom Brady! He is from this area - Spokane, while he played at WSU/Pullman, WA. He is very disciplined in the short passing game but not a great arm. Good guy, I wish him well...as in a lot of 2nd place finishes to the Colts.

  5. 7....lots of close losses but they are losses just the same. To me, the running game is suspect, making life on QB, whomever it is, tougher. Very tough schedule. Defense will be better with new LB overall speed and Ya-Sin (sp?) But is there a truly dominant pass rusher? Houston is a good add but going against some very good qbs this year calls for a dominant pass rush.

If Brisset starts slow, a QB controversy seems like it could be distracting too.

Here’s the thing it’s been a long time since Colts fans have seen a QB like Brissett who by all accounts is pretty good but he’s not elite.

Your comment made sense to me and after reading the first sentence, all I could think of was Jack Trudeau. He sure seemed capable, but it never really happened for him.

  7. Run game likely will prove ineffective in a "Brisset, show me" approach by Colts opponents. And really, outside of Mack, who is a real plus at rb for the Colts. That hurts Brisset too. I think Brisset will prove to be an Andy Dalton. Kelly will ultimately get his chance. The final chapter of the 2019 story will be the Colts heavily watching qb tapes for next year's draft.

  8. There is a saying in baseball that a "player is good enough to get you beat". Just my opinion, Brissett is a nice enough teammate and all but if he is your starter, you will get beat. To me, he is Alex Smith quality....just nothing to get really excited about. To be honest, if the Skins cut Smith, I fear Ballard would grab him for next year. Yuk!!

    Unitas, Jones,Manning,Luck....the party is over.

Seems like we put some emphasis on the Senior Bowl when it comes to evaluating talent.

After the Leonard draft and this year's draft, I'm betting the Senior Bowl is must see TV if we want to get a clue about possible draft picks. I think you are 100% right on Ballard's Senior Bowl emphasis where the best play the best.

  10. To me, I think there is some rebuilding being done but the 2019 season's success has elements the Colts can control, like coaching, playing the right players, game plans, etc and things they can't control....like injuries, strength of schedule, playoff seeding, weather, luck, refs, etc. If they get to the AFC championship game, and it's not played in a frigid New England, I would sure like their chances.
