  1. We go for good on film Ohio State guys...but they all have had a problem staying on the field. But I thought Campbell would great so I can't fault the choice.  Happy for McLaurin though that he is doing well. I was born and raised in Ohio so I always root for OSU guys....i just wish them better health.

Glad you mentioned AV: if he got criticized for the first two weeks and became the sole reason for the week one loss, then it would follow he should get some credit for his points Sunday night. You could make the argument that the Colts would have lost, if not for him.

Glad he was the Colts kicker and not the K from Tennessee. Didn't that guy miss 4 against Carolina? He doesn't have the Vinny resume to weather that storm. Vinny just looked solid all game.

  3. Brissett was hurt with KC doubling Hilton. Watch his head during pass plays...he locks on a targetbhe chooses pre snap....there is very little after snap "see who is open",

On long pass plays to Hilton or Campbell he is going there whether the receiver is double covered or more and he often underthrows the ball.

Plus side he commands the huddle and he is a good leader. His size and strength helps in the QB sneaks and he does have some mobility.

Here's hoping his scanning the field matches Reich's play calling.

  4. I have to agree with that headline....especially for a single game. As far as overall Reich performance, his turning around a 1-5 and not losing the clubhouse was pretty special too. Probably the same way he got the layers to believe in  the turnaround has a lot to do with getting a team to believe you can win even when the media and all expects a slaughter.

This from the guy that made a thread trying to say Ballard has only hit on 1 of 3 drafts...   Do you have a problem with Ballard, OSU, or both?

Is there a college that's producing non-fragile players?  All players from all schools deal with injuries at various points of their career.  One of the knocks on Bama players is how used up they are by the time they get to the NFL... and Bama and Clemson are probably the only two programs that can claim they're producing more NFL talent than OSU right now.

    Silly.

Yeah I do have a problem with Ballard.  I think he is better at waiver wire type pickups than drafting... like Moore, Glowinki (sp?), etc. Two stars .... one we all could have picked and one great surprise choice - Leonard.  Really, outside of those two, and the tackle, who else are real cornerstones? I will grant that that is opinion that can only be proved by time.

As for the Ohio State reference, just check the percentage of   games Hooker, Lewis, and Turay have missed. Gheesh,  that isn't conjecture...that's facts.

That's what you are going with 4 games into the season?

I don't think you watch football much.

Totally willing to let time prove my point. That's what being a Colts fan since 1958 will do, and I haven't missed a Colts game in decades.

Snarky comments are easy...lets let results on the field do the talking.

  7. There are 20 names listed as this year's top rookies, so far. I think it is telling about Ballard's draft class that no Colt was mentioned. And it is not due to the Colts not playing their draft choices...they are on the field. They just haven't been producing. Ballard 1 out of 3 so far in draft classes.

He had 6 drops all of last year. He had a very bad day and he knows it. He had 3 alone today.

That said, yes, he gets extended. You ever have a bad day?

Um Doyle has had his days of drops too.

You mean that time my new software program left the phone on after it made the ca'll, and when I came into work the next day the call was live? In 1980 dollars Ma Bello charged $300 plus for the call. Yeah, maybe I had that one bad day. But a million people weren't watching and commenting too, lol.

  9. Grigson got a pass for years on his first draft class. I think Ballard will get the same amount of time from last year's class. Then he will be exposed as a "blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile" drafter like Grigson was.

  10. The word coming into this year was:

    a. Brissett has a lot of balls batted down. The Raiders sure did that.

    b. Brissett locks onto a receiver. Check. He still does.

    c. Brissett throws mostly fastballs. Outside of some goal line flips, check. But the Colts receivers go above and beyond in aiding Brissett's mediocrity with their numerous drops. It reached ridiculousness in the Oakland game.

    d. Brissett will have untimely turnovers. In the Oakland game...check.

For all the leadership Brissett and Reich are supposed to have, it must have been behind closed doors in the locker room because you sure didn't see any fire/"we need to do better" emotion on the sideline in the Oakland game.

  11. My Colts review after 3 weeks...and I don't think anyone cares, including my 6 sons, lol.

    The Good

    1. Reich play calling ..a real plus. Much improved over Pagano era (I liked Chuck as a person). Remember when there were Sean Payton to the Colts rumors? It was his gusty, creative play calling that appealed to me. Well, I think Reich, in terms of play calling and guts will be mentioned in the same breadth if he gets his Super Bowl win.

    2. Offensive line - as good as advertised.

    3. Brissett - his grabbing the reins and performing under pressure is a pleasant surprise. You have to be all in on him. Missing Luck is like missing an ex-girlfriend....wasting that emotion will only hurt you.

    4. Mack - solid. Totally solid.

    5. Rookies playing. The fact that they are playing and the Colts could have been 3-0 speaks well of the draft. Willis shows promise, particularly in run support.

    6. Jack Doyle's contributions.

    The Mediocre

    1. Leonard...I guess I was hoping for more. I know he's hurt but I thought something was amiss the first two games.

    2. Ebron - maybe spreading the ball around has lessened his opportunities.

    3. Return game. Not much happening there.

    4. 2nd receiver. With Funchess and Fountain out, not much happening there....we seem to be "F'ed". Has there been a Rogers citing?

    The Bad.

    1. The pass rush. Just not what I thought would be a strength this year. Next years draft should be pass rushers, pass rushers, and all the free agent pass rushers you can find. Stick a fork in Houston (you know the rest).

    2. The 2 games of kicking woes.

    3. Playing loose zones. Geesh...Ryan was making it look like a backyard football game where he hit every pass.

    The Amazing

    1. Ebron's first touchdown (the flip pass at the goal line)

    2. The Pascal td call today

    3. Geathers interception (not a typo, he really did it).

    4. The 3rd Colts cheerleader from the left....just kidding.
