  1. Please give one example where a team has replaced 8-10 starters in a single off season, added hole new front office and been any good that year.

The 2011 49ers are about as close as you will get with 5 new D starters(although 2 of them had been with the team prior) and 1 new O starter

I cant give an example but I am confident the Colts will be competitive next year. We have talent in some areas and we have guys that are easily replaced in other areas. I am optimistic.

  2. Plausible, but you have taken out the all effecting factor of injuries. All of those players would have to develop and contribute while staying healthy all season. No, I am not trying to rain on your hairdo...in fact, I like optimism. However. if we just fix two things well, be it the oline and the QB position, or the oline and the secondary, or the QB and the special teams....I would be happy. Shoot for the sky, but be aware that the likelihood of all new (the 5 or 6 you mentioned), staying healthy all season would truly be hitting the lottery. I seriously hope you are correct.

I see the team hitting its stride in three years. Look out AFC South!

Injuries are always a variabe. I did say 2012 and beyond so if we can stay healthy next year.... hopefully by the following year we can have some depth built up. I know the Colts in the past rarely gave rookies much playing time in year 1 but with the new staff maybe that changes and maybe we may have no choice but to play them early. I say coach em up and maybe late in the season we can peak and make a run. I am optimistic about our future with this new management and coaching staff. Thanks and Go Colts.

  3. I believe our Colts are in need of around 10 players to be competive and build for our the future. I also believe it is possible for the Colts to obtain 8-10 of those players this year. The Colts need a good draft this year that will produce 5 contributors now or in the near future. We also need to find 1 or 2 UDFA to contribute. Finally we need to sign 2 or 3 or free agents.

I will start with the O and the linemen which I believe are the most important. We may have 3 of the 5 linemen we need in place to be solid in the near furure. The book ends are young and capable I believe (Castonzo,Iguana, lol). Reitz has potentia at guard. I believe we need 2 good offensive linemen and we can be solid up front. Thats 2 players we need.

We need a wide receiver.............a young, fast, big, solid wide receiver. We have talent with Reggie, Garcon, Collie and Gozalez but we need a new #1 Wide receiver. Thats 3 players we need.

Running back is questionable........I would love to have a Edge in our back field but we have the talent needed to be solid at RB.

Tight End as RB could be upgraded to a bigger stronger guy but we have Dallas, Tamme n Brode............could be worse.

QB............we need a QB to start or back up.

    Thats 4 players we need.

Defensive line..............we need another DT to go along with Nevis, Johnson etc. We also need another Frathis like DE. The D-Line has talent and I am not sure what direction we r going but 2 new beasts on the d-line should solidify weather we go 3-4 or 4-3.

    Thats 6 players we need.

The secondary is questionable. We have to get a safety and probably another corner but who knows we have young guys who may step up.

Thats 8 players at the most we need.

I like the lbs but we could use a game changer inserted there.

I just do not think the Colts are far from being a good football team.

    Please elaborate.

  4. I have no idea what most threads here are saying half the time. It's a forum.

I don't see a ton of action going on either with the waiting game so my point was why would Luck come here if he was going to ride the bench for years?

Misleading Title.............Your point should of been your title.

Title = "why would Luck come here if he was going to ride the bench for years? Jeez.

What is this second favorite team stuff? Jeez. Who is your 5th favorite team?

Nobody is discussing what you wanted to discuss because er title is misleading.

  5. Of course I am not truly in the mind of them nor have an inside source.

I am also aware of what Luck has said at times about learning from Peyton.

    But, be honest with yourselves.

You are Luck. You are Luck's dad. Luck's agent. His barber. Now you are the best college QB prospect since Elway right? You are apparently NFL ready and ready to selected first in the draft.

Why in the world would you sit on the bench for more then a year at most? Why?

No, this is not like Rodgers to me. Rodgers was not even the clear first pick in the draft. Rodgers was actually a value pick for the Packers where they got him. Rodgers did not have as much of a choice.

    Luck does.

If Peyton stays and is cleared and you get the feeling he will start for years.....why would you come to Indy?

Learning from PM is the dream scenario many say. Then again ask Favre how much a starting legend of his own team wants to play mentor for a young QB when he wishes deep down that his team spent the pick on a player to help win now.

By all means from what we have heard......Irsay is going to spend the first pick on a QB and it's likely Luck. If you take RG3 I firmly believe that will be a huge huge mistake.

But, I still can't grasp my mind around having both Luck/Peyton. I just can't. Going back to Archie's initial stage dad comments last season......it does not fit well in my gut.

    Misleading title.

  6. Peyton Manning will never take another snap as a Colt. Decisions have been made and we will move on and rebuild. The media will make claims and Irsay and Peyton will say this and that but its over.

No need to listen or read all this news coming out..............its over. Andrew Luck is the next QB in Indy. Manning will just stunt Lucks growth.

I dont like it either but its the right choice moving on. There will be better days ahead Colt fans. Go Giants. Go Manning.

  7. Honestly I don't think it has anything to do with getting a win. Irsay can't just come out and say, "we need to evaluate Peyton and make sure he is back to his old self so we can determine whether to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract." While that would be very direct and probably the most honest answer he can give, imo it would be a PR nightmare.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!! I am so tired of reading he should not return this year if possible but the Colts need to know whats up? If Peyton is not gonna be the same we need to know so we can opt out of the "BIG" contract. People around here just do not think thru their thoughts.

Lets say Peyton is not gonna return to the same level then we opt out and draft the best QB available.

  8. The guy seems completely lost out there. Last night against the Bucs, the Colts recover a catch and fumble before the ref blows it dead as an incomplete pass. They have a clear shot of it on replay, 2nd quarter, all 3 timeouts left, CHALLENGE IT!!! ...or stand there like a deer in headlights. Then, down by 7 with 3 minutes left looking at 4th and 5, he sends out the punt team. What is there to gain from that? Best case senario, you force 3 and out, they punt it back and now you have it at the same place you had it before, only now with 2 minutes left and no timeouts. At some point, he's going to have to put down his Coaching 101 textbook, think for himself and and take a gamble now and then. I like Caldwell and wish he was a better coach, but someone either needs to light a fire under him or cut him loose. And as a side note to Larry Coyer, when it's 3rd down THEY'RE THROWING IT OVER THE MIDDLE.

It was a running joke last night at my house. Third down "throw it over the middle"."First down". PATHETIC

  9. You have no idea who I am so don't go blowing off at untrue facts. I've been a COLTS fan since they moved to INDY in 84, how long have you been a COLTS fan? I've been through thick and thin with this team, attended over a hundred games, saw the good, the bad, and the ugly. I bleed BLUE and WHITE, get nervous when anything goes wrong with the team, bite my nails during games like true COLTS fans do, and have the happy, angry, frustrating, exhilarating, and all emotions in-between with all things COLTS. So before you make a fool of yourself with false accusations, try looking at the body of posts....... you will find sarcasm (if you can handle it), complementary, digs, and many mixed variety of posts. Saying I'm hoping for the worst for Peyton is ridiculous. I doubt you were even born when I went to my first COLTS game.

I do know you. I have met many like you. The facts are in all your posts. I started watching the Colts when Bert Jones was the QB for what its worth. I grew up in Baltimore. I hope you have a more optimistic outlook in other parts of your life then you do football. I believe people here can live without all the negative crap you post. I am tired of reading negative posts then looking at who posted it and seeing your name.

  10. Peyton's surgery is a very intrusive procedure. I youtubed the events chronicled with several patients of the EXACT same procedure. It's no wonder they didn't want it leaked. A neck brace MUST be worn after this procedure especially when out driving or doing ANYTHING outside the home for fear of a fall or accident can be very costly. VIDEO BELOW - Animation of procedure.

People chronicled on the youtube videos were in extreme pain post-op 24 - 48 hours.

After the procedure, PAIN medication is a must as your insides are VERY, VERY sore. It is extremely painful to swallow. First 10 days are hardest. I can't imagine that Manning would be traveling due to neck-brace. A hard brace apparatus is required outside of the home, where a soft can be worn inside. The hard brace looks VERY awkward and I can't imagine they would risk him on the sidelines with potential to get hit. Brace will be worn a good 3 weeks. Head is not allowed to bend backward, must be very careful (not that it is easy to do anyway because of the piece of hip-bone or non-auto graft now inserted in there) Not sure whether they took a piece of his hip bone for the graft or not but pretty sure they did. That (the hip bone) was placed between the two vertebrae after removal of the previous disk (which was protruding into his spinal cord causing numbness in triceps and pain in back), then trimmed with power tools and cleaned. fusion will take months. Peyton will have a scar on his throat just off to the side of adams apple horizonally about 2 inches long. Might be some slight bruising in this area as well. Finally they put a titanium bracket with 4 screws to ensure solid contact and fusion down the road. The video is a second level, where Peyton just had the one level. The video makes it look easy and fast but its about an hour procedure....lots of cleaning and incising and trimming.

Good find. I know your hoping for the worst for Peyton and that you want to worry all Colt fans but Peyton is like a super hero. I think he is gonna be OK. I do not like what your attempting to accomplish with your posts and I do not like you.

  11. I've watched a lot of film on him over the last week and a few days, his pocket prowess, at times, is just horrible. He holds on to the ball way to long at times, thus allowing the pocket to collapse. His roll-outs are very inconsistant, thus his throws on the run are awkward and clumsy. His arm is strong but his accuracy has really declined.

If I'm way to harsh, I'm sorry.

I do not understand most the stuff you say and I do not like you.

  12. I think the Colts beat the texans by at least 10 points this Sunday. And yes I'm being honest.

I took the Colts and the points because I believe we can beat them straight up. The offensive line does its job we have plenty of weapons. I do not understand why people think we can not compete. We have a solid veteran NFL QB who has seen it all. We have more offensive weapons then just about any team in the NFL. Offensive line you block Addai/Carter you run. Line block Kerry you throw its not that hard. Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Addai, Collie, Pierre, Tamme, Gonzalez someone get open Kerry throws to you and you catch it. Geez people get a grip.

Defensively I like the added size at the defensive end position against the run. I like the fact that Freeny and Mathis will be fresh for third and long. Fili is gonna have a great year in my opinion and Nevis is gonna give teams fits. Our linebackers will have room to run and hit this year as the Offensive line for other teams will have to actually block our ends. We typically just rush the QB and the linemen on run plays just go to second level after a slight chip on the end and get to the second level quickly and on our line backers. I dont see that this year. We will be better against the run and we will get after the QB this year. Our secondary needs to hold up and well be fine.

Do what you gotta do Peyton......well be alright.

  13. Peyton won't be ready, 100% ready till at least maybe Oct, I can see the Colts losing some games during that time. Also I would disagree that the o-line is improved, younger maybe, but still a HUGE issue and not sure how you can think our D line is undoubtably better. At to that age and a very very tough schedule, I think this team is going to struggle and believe 8-8 is where we will finish.

Hmm 8-8 I will take that bet. If Vegas put the over under on the Colts at 8 wins..........I like the over.

  14. I really do not believe that the Colts will let Gonzo go. I believe they are along with Peyton so "sold" on gettin Wayne,Clark,Collie,Addai and Gonzo on the field at the same time. These guys on the field along with Peyton at the same time create serious issues for defenses.

    1) Dallas is very difficult for a LB or Safety to deal with. (CB has the speed to keep up)

    2) Reggie needs to be doubled unless you have a Revis on your D. (CB and Safety to cover)

    3) Austin may be best route runner on team. If not doubled he will kill a D. (CB and Safety to cover)

    4) Gonzo is very quick and elusive if u have forgot.(I know its been 2 yrs) (CB to cover)

    5) Addai coming out the backfield against a LB advantage Colts (LB to cover?)

So this line up forces a D into a Dime package and we love this. Gives us an extra blocker to run against this D (5 vs 4) and also gives Peyton man coverage against Dallas, Joseph and Gonzo.

    Thats why Gonzo stays IMO.

  15. I am unable to start a new topic so I am posting here. Too bad if you do not like. I have had a couple drinks tonight and I admit I have a man crush on Peyton our QB.......the face of the NFL. He is a class act IMO and just a really down to earth guy. I know this video is old but it still brings tears to my eyes. Tom Brady, Drew Brees or whom ever the fools think are in the same tier, category or class as Manning watch this..............no way in heck they can do this in a small bar down south. Hurry back Peyton......We love you man.
