I could get on board with this!  That would make my year!  We win a game or two in the playoffs and Manning wins the superbowl!  This year.  Next year, when we have more talent, I'll have to root for the Colts over Manning.  That'll be a GAME!  But I'd rather save it for next year...

  2. Aw dude, way to burst my bubble! :P Don't have a provider, just local tv and download whatver else I want to watch the day after it airs. I'm gonna be so bummed if there's no way to watch this game! I'm sure not everybody has NFL network. So how do you all watch the gamesThanks for helping me out, that's why I love this site. Everybody's so nice!

  3. Hey everybody! Stoked about the game! Will it be on a local station? I don't have NFL network. Is there a way to watch the game if not? Thanks!

Sorry if this is already a topic, I couldn't find it anywhere after a quick scroll through the topics. I didn't see anything on the main site either, but it's so jam packed with stuff I could have missed it.

  4. WOW. Some people are really suspicious! Manning went into June, July, August with NOOOOO idea that he wouldn't be able to play at all this year. He was working hard at rehab and hoping for the best. He had no idea that he'd be getting paid to stay on the bench. And so what if he was? How many times have we paid Gonzo, Sanders, Bethea, Garcon, Addai, and all the others to sit a significant portion of the season? Was Brady a waste of money when he went down for most of a season? entitlement issues, much? He'd never missed a snap until last season, but now I'm sure it's his fault the disc was bulging and the nerve wasn't regenerating. I'm sure that it's his fault he couldn't forsee that he'd need to have another surgery or that we'd suck so bad without him that we'd get the number one pick. right....

  5. I would like for any of you to run a business solely on sentiment and emotion, and not on rational and dollars and cents.

My guess is you wouldn't be open for very long.

It's not just emotion! It's history - with Peyton we win games, without him we're mediocre at best. SO we want to keep him. Why do Luck fans act like "oh, they're so irrational and emotional for wanting to keep Peyton?"

  6. SO BUMMED! It's gonna break my heart to see him go. I'll still root for the colts - as long as they're not playing him! Because we were the ones dumb enough to cut him we deserve to get our a$$ kicked every time we play him. Yeah, yeah, that makes me not a "real" fan. I know, And I'm okay with that. He's the reason I became a fan of football at all, so I feel I owe him that loyalty. It made me grin from ear to ear to see him throw again. The idea of him in another uniform is the height of stupidity to me.

  7. How dare you ask this question! All jokes aside, it's not Manning's decision. It's free agency. Manning could try convincing whatever team he joins to take say, Wayne, but I highly doubt a team can foot the bill for both Manning and Wayne and have a need at both QB and WR.

Right, but wouldn't Jeff take a few mil to come play for Manning's team for one more super bowl? And Manning would want the guy he trusts under center and any team wanting to attract manning would make it MORE attractive if they offer to take his guy too. Like I said, I don't know the precedent, it was just an intriguing question....

  8. I'm not saying I think Manning's leaving. But if he does, do you all think he'll take some of the free agents (esp. Wayne and Saturday) with him? Just asking! Please don't crucify me for saying Manning's gone, I want to run him out of town, etc. I DO NOT WANT MANNING GONE. But being a fairly recent (last decade) fan, I wanted to know if there's some precedent for that, if you think he'd make a package deal.

  9. I think the best case of Manning remaining with the Colts is for Irsay to cut him, then re-sign him at a very discounted, and incentive based 2 year contract.

    For example:

10.4M hit on 2012 cap from being cut with current contract.

Re-sign for X million over the next 2 years, with only 5M on cap this year.

Therefore his total cap hit would be 15.4M this year, a bit cheaper than his current deal, but more importantly, we will not be tied to him for 4 years with a big contract when his playing ability could be questionable.

IMO, this is the best case for him and the Colts going forward - IF he is able to play next season (which his latest interview led me to believe will be the case).

Why not this? It seems like Manning would be willing. Irsay would be willing. And we would be ecstatic! Works for me.....

  10. But he's not healthy, duh! I watched the Colts before Manning, so maybe I have an ability to accept him being gone, but to say he is being wronged when he clearly is trying not to accept his situation and making things harder than they are is really more his fault than anyone else's.

Listen, Manning had a great run, and sadly it was cut short, but his compeptitive instincts are becomeing his own downfall. My father had the same surgery, and yes it is a fairly comon surgery, but even my dad who's surgery was done by one of the best Dr's for said injury told my father he would have to change some of his ways, like how he grips objects and picks objects up. Manning just has to accept the hand he was dealt. Howie Long said it best when he said some surgeries are to much for a player to overcome.

Where's your chrystal ball, dude? You got some inside source we don't know about? Montana came back from the same surgery, why can't Manning? He may be healthy, he may be retiring. WE DON'T KNOW! This is all just speculation.

  11. So from the interview this afternoon with Shefter and the other interviews I'm getting the direct impression that whichever whey the Mannng thing goes, it won't take til March. We won't have to suffer from another month of this debate over wether Manning should get the boot! I don't think I could take it. Did anybody else get the sense with all the info out that we'll have an announcement in the next two weeks?

  12. So sick of the "true colts fan" nonsense. We're all colts fans or we wouldn't be here I LOVE the colts. The organization earned my respect with the way they handle things, the integrity, Tony Dungy was the MAN. It just hurts my heart to think of Peyton Manning anywhere else than here. And for Irsay to "if he's healthy, he's a Colt" and then go back on his word is hard for me as a COLTS fan.

  13. His shot is his contract

That's what both sides agreed to

    It is more than fair

But it seems to me that he's always been more than willing to take less money for the good of the team. If they told him, "we want you back, can you take 1 year 4 mil?" He'd say sure. He's already said he want to stay! The money isn't the issue. IF we cut him and he's healthy he'll take whatever money the team with the best shot at a Super Bowl will give him. If it's 15 mil, great, if it's 1.5 mil I think he'd still take it. He wants to play. He wants to play. He wants to play! And "fair" really doesn't come into play with all he's done for this sport. Everything he's done for this city surely hasn't been in his contract, has it? He's gone above and beyond and so should we to keep him.

  14. Why would I root against my team just because Peyton is going against them? Man I can't stand Peyton fans first, Colts fans second.

WOW, self-righteous much? I don't want Peyton to go, Peyton doesn't want to go. The owner shows him the door. Why wouldn't I be a little upset about that and feel like if he kicks our arses he deserved a little payback for not having more faith in him given everything he's already done? I'll still be a Colts fan, I'd propbably just be miserable that whole game no matter who wins!

I knew I'd get a lot of the "not a true fan" mob, Here it comes.....

  15. This question is going to attract a lot of "true fan" preaching but I don't think it is as clear cut as some will try to make it.

Personally, I think the answer will depend on how the man is treated for the next month.

If he is given a fair shot and it just doesn't work out then that is one thing.

If he gets completely jerked around then that is another.

THANK YOU - somebody actually gets my dilemna. It's not that I'm not a colts fan, its just that after all he's done for our city and the game, to see him not given a fair shot is really saddening.

  16. Assuming that Manning is cut and goes to another team, will you root for the Colts or Manning? On the one hand, I'm a die-hard colts fan. BUt there's a little part of me that thinks that if Irsay is dumb enough to cut him and not restructure his contract then we deserve to get killed every time we play him! I understand that we need to rebuild the team and that we can't pay his rediculous contract. But if he'd go to the Jets for say, 6 mil one year contract, why wouldn't he stay here for that? And if the Colts can't figure out how to keep their GOAT that has done SOOOOO much for this city then I hope he rubs their nose in it and goes to win the 2 more rings he deserves. I'll still show up every week and root for my boys in blue. But if we play against Manning, I don't know. That's a hard one.

He built this team and this city into what it is. SO many people wouldn't even be colts fans if he hadn't come. I'll still be a Colts fan when he's gone. But given what he's done for our town and for the game, I don't think I could ever root against him!

  17. Please forgive me if this topic has already been discussed adnauseum! I've been so depressed over the Manning situation that I've been avoiding the forum for a few weeks. I know that his current contract makes it almost rediculous to consider keeping him and paying his bonus in March, even if he's healthy. It just doesn't leave enough room in the cap to rebuild the team in all the other ways that are needed. As a logical person, I understand that.

But can Manning restructure his contract to give him a few more years without hurting the team's bottom line so much? It seems to me that it would be in his best interest! He clearly doesn't want to go anywhere, and I sure as **** think most of us fans don't want him to go anywhere! It's not like we're going to be real contenders for the next year or two even if we draft Luck and try to revamp our defense. So the emotional fan in me says why wouldn't he just take less money and come back for another two years? Other than Luck, who'd have a problem with that?

    Just asking!

  18. Im talking about those who wish failure on Luck because he may take over for their beloved Manning. I've said before that I love Manning too and everything he's done for the team and the city, but if Irsay decides that it would be better for the org. to release Manning and look to the future then I will support him fully.

It is immature to wish failure on anybody and I've seen a lot of it here. Just like your sick of seeing "Manning will never be the same" there are also some that are sick of hearing that Manning will be back and play 5 or 6 more yrs.. I've even seen up to 10 more yrs. Either of those assumptions are flat ridiculous. Even Manning said after he signed his new contract, that it would be his last. That is 4 yrs. tops and no matter whether you like it or not, he very well might not make that.

Also, have you even considered releasing Manning may be in Mannings best interest too. Maybe he don't want to be part of a rebuilding process which the Colts are in the midst of. New GM and probably new coach, plus there is no way they can afford to keep some FA's they have even if they didn't draft Luck.

Agreed that those that think Manning will play another 5-10 years aren't being realistic. But Manning has already said that he wants to retire a Colt, that's what he thinks is in his best interest. Irsay has said multiple times that Manning will retire a Colt. So for Irsay to go back on his word, on a healthy Manning, that I cannot abide. Yes, I'm a colts fan. But I'm most of all a fan of the game. And Manning has done more for this game than anyone in recent (30+ years) history!

In my opinion the most "mature" perspective would be that if you have one of the greatest of all time healthy, you ride the train til the end. Of course we want a backup. The hard part comes in this day in age, when you it isn't realistic to draft a #1 pick as a backup. Especially for more than a year. It's almost impossible to have your cake and eat it too. If it works out, I'd be thrilled. I just don't want to throw Manning under the bus for the possibility of another great QB til we're done with the first one. Seems like a little bit of premature ejac..... to me! :)

But we'll have SOOOO much time to discuss this ad nauseum hopefully with a little more info in a few weeks. My guess is that before the cut date, Manning himself will let us know if he's able to return. Until we know that one way or the other, we're just wildly speculating on the "what ifs."
