  1. I'm interested in how many times he didnt pick up the 1st when he ran it on 3rd down and just how far were those touchdown runs.

We have Luck, he can throw it in from the 2 yard line or run it in himself. Ypc is what keeps the opposing offense sitting on the bench.

11 touchdowns would be awesome, but I would rather have 5 or 6 touchdowns and 4+ ypc. Maybe even break a big run for 20+ sometimes.

The guy is putting up 6th round talent numbers, 3rd string type numbers, not first round numbers.

I have a feeling his numbers aren't going to improve even slightly but actually go down again.

  2. There is always a chance, but I dont think we had a very good chance.

We still have a ways to go I think.

We are missing a lot of pieces.

Need to get some consistent defensive play. Improve the line. Get a running back who is a threat to break one open.

Considering what we had this year I would say we did pretty good.

I'm kinda worried that we will fall back into the making the playoffs every year but never going past the 1st or second round. Being good but just not good enough is a tough pill to swallow season after season because of the draft selection order.

Then again you have teams that usually are selecting early to middle in the draft and can't seem to get it together. Pick your posion I guess.

Better to make the playoffs and possibly get hot at the right time then to keep picking early amd still never get anywhere.

  3. I had hoped we would have taken a safety in the 1st round last year. I thought it was a more pressing need then linebacker since we already had Mathis resigned and had picked up Walden. Bethea's contract was coming up due and picking up a younger cheaper safety in the draft would have made sense.

  4. I would say its the worst trade of the season. Harvin has produced before, drafting a player who becomes a bust is somewhat justified because of the unknown factors.

In Richardson's case I would say he Is a double bust. He was a bust in Cleveland, otherwise why would they have gave up so much for him and got back only a portion of it in one season. They recognized what they had and wanted out. Grigson had numbers, tape, people he could call and ask what they thought, and he still traded a first for him.

He was a bust for their first rounder and has been a bust for ours. He is a double bust if there ever was a double bust. He won't make it to a triple bust because nobody would even consider giving another first for him.

He is bustarific, the bustiest, a double bust with cheese and ketchup. The glass bottle kinda ketchup that comes out real slow.

  5. all you care about is ypc. Other than that trich was good last year. And ypc can be deceiving

Other then the most important stat he was good .....

So as long as we get him the ball at the one yard line every game he is gonna be awesome.

1st and 10 you hand him the ball. Now its second and 8, you give him the ball again, now its 3rd and 5. Defense knows its gonna be a pass, forget about play action, they know you ain't gonna hand him the ball. Drop everyone back in coverage, oh no they handed him the ball, he waits, does the cabbage patch, then finally runs, 4th and 1, bring out McAfee.

    Ypc is huge.

He poses zero threat to anything longer then 3 yards. He can't find a hole, he waits, he dances, and he is tackled.

If you are not picking up ypc then your running game is a liability and not an asset. The defense will be able to predict your plays much easier because they know you can't pick up yards on the ground.

You have a small lead, you wanna kill the clock, Trent is no help because he can't run and pick up yardage consistently.

Ypc is huge, ypc is the main thing you want from your running back.

  6. Yes my point was that Richardson didnt have a pro day or something that made Grigson pull the trigger. He had a whole season to show what he could do, and he didnt do too well, certainly not first round worthy.

I think he was reaching trying to get a franchise back and blew it big time. He ignored the numbers from the NFL and went with the college numbers I guess, which was the dumbest thing to do.

This is way worse then a first round bust, this was a double bust.

  7. Yes but Dan Snyder wasn't the Foreman on that job.

Grigson hasn't made ruined this team, T-Rich ( when we get decent linemen) will be our Marshawn Lynch- I gentleman wager that.

And for those people who say "how come Brown,Choice and Bradshaw can run behind this line?" Same way those running backs don't have someone immediately meet them in the backfield in a lot of plays.

I'm all for wagers. Wanna bet avatars for a year ? I win I pick yours, you win you pick mine. Just set some reasonable goals for good old Richardson and I'm all for it.
  8. I still think he'll become an NFL star. Did you see him play in college? Very strong runner. Bama had a very good o-line, but he was a great college player. He's going to be a pro bowl player.

The pro bowl would be perfect for him, nobody tries there.
  9. Alright Modern. We get it. Trent Richardson sucks in your eyes.

There is STILL a reason this guy was picked top 3. I think its a confidence thing. If he gets into shape over the offseason and becomes familiar with the offence and the playbook, i think he can still be a solid RB in the NFL.

Wasnt the man who drafted him 3rd overall fired ? There was a reason for that too. Take a look at who else the Browns took in the 1st, Brandon Weeden .... Yeah they were awesome at talent evaluation that year.
  10. I dont hate Trent, I hate that Trent is on the Colts and cost us a 1st round draft pick.

Richardson didnt ask to come here and fail, Grigson was responsible for that.

Maybe after a few years, when they finally give up on Richardson Grigson will admit he made a monumental bad call by trading for the guy.

We are starting to look like the Redskins, trading picks for bad players and overpaying for free agents.

  11. Drafting a bust in the first round happens, but trading your first rounder for a player who stinks, that's a different ballgame.

Grigson had stats, video, all kinds of info on Richardson from his time in the NFL. This wasn't a situation where it was a surprise the guy didnt do well. He had all the numbers from last year and the numbers from a couple of games this year in front of him and he went for it.

That looks way worse then drafting a guy who doesnt work out. He had proof in front of him that so far the guy wasnt living anywhere near his first round status and he went for it anyways.

Thats inexcusable. This was a first round pick, the most coveted way to build a team and he traded his for a guy that had so far shown no flashes yet. 2 runs for over 20 yards and less then 4 yards a carry behind a good offensive line.

Pretty much everyone knows that these days you dont take a runningback in the 1st amd you surely dont trade away your first for a runningback who has yet to show anything beyond average numbers. I dont see how this trade can be justified unless Grigson used Madden ratings or just went entirely off name recognition.

I dont think many of any GM's would have made the trade.

  12. And you are basing this prediction on what ? Has to be college because the guy so far has done nothing as a pro.

He can pound it in from one yard out ...... Dang. We should call the Browns and give them our second rounder also, its only fair, considering all that we got.

  13. So we should all stick our heads in the sand and pretend everything is fine ?

He hurts the team, especially if they name him the starter. If Grigson actually thinks Richardson helped win games then we are in real trouble.

We have the best young QB in the league and it would be a shame to even waste one season that we have him by having a GM who will not admit he got bamboozled by the Browns. Like it or not we are rebuilding and Richardson costing us a first has hampered that.. What's done is done, he wasted a pick on a bust, it happens, but dont throw in a season for good measure. Richardson should be given a shot to prove he isnt a bust, and once he fails to do that we need someone who can come in and run for us.

  14. Trent Richardson was all anyone could talk about for weeks after this trade. I was told by a coworker and couldn't believe how lucky the Colts were. I find it hard to blame the gm when our rb just went down with an injury and someone as good as Trent popped up.

Making these kinds of deals are what separates Grigson from the rest of the pack.

Not nessicarily in a good way.
  15. Richardson ain't gonna turn it around.

Sure he can score from the 1 yard line, but unless you are in that position at least once a game then he is useless.

If he doesnt know the playbook then he will never know it.

He can block, sometimes pick up a first down in short yardage situations, and sometimes make a passing play, sounds like a fullback not a halfback. Nobody takes a fullback in the first round.

If we hand him the ball 300+ times he might have a 1000 yard season, so he will need probably at least 25 carries a game.

If the Colts want a power running offense then Richardson needs to stay on the bench.

You dont have to stack the box to defend Richardson. At most leave your middle linebacker or a safety on him, he will dance until they get there. Even if they dont get him he won't go far.

  16. I dont think Caldwell will do much in Detroit.

I dont think he is the worst coach in the world, but I think he is more suited to be a OC or a QB coach. That's not a bad thing to be though.

If I was the Lions I would have went all out for Lovey just to tick off the Bears. Plus Lovey has done more with less then Caldwell.

If I was Lovey I would have wanted the Detroit job to rub it in the Bears face that they fired me. Plus the Lions have the players in place to win now, Tampa is gonna need a lot of work.

That ain't how it worked out though so ...

I have a soft spot for Detroit fans. They have never won a Superbowl, so I consider them a true fan base with no bandwagon jumpers.

Where I am from originally, Fort Wayne, you have a lot of Bears fans, half my family are Bears fans, they hated when Lovey was let go. Not many Colts fans were upset when Caldwell was let go.

  17. I would judge Luck the same way I would judge Richardson. If you put a for sale sign around his neck at the end of the season would other teams come knocking at your door.

Texans got the first overall, I am sure we could get that and whatever other picks they have this year and probably a bunch next year for Luck.

Look at Peyton's performance in the 2003 AFC title game ...... Nobody is questioning him now.
