  1. No it was one of our CBs. When Stafford rolled out, that CB left Johnson to cover the TE or other WR I believe, leaving Davis to chase after Johnson from behind...Not really much of a chance there.

What was the coverage there? I went back to look and we only rushed three. There had to be a blown coverage. With eight men back, somebody had to have the high zone. Who was it?

P.S. Lefeged was...solid. No obvious flaws etc.

  2. The problem is as Indy keeps winning the pressure will mount. Even more... Some Colt fans think this is the norm. When in fact this season so far is the farthest thing from what should be expected. Expectations have went through the roof.

And Luck is the reason why. If most would understand it and keep in mind he is only a rookie. He knows he has to make things happen for this team to win. And the STAFF knows it.

They (the staff) could very easily reel him in. But they don't ... know why? He is their only chance at WINNING.

So we will all have to live with the good and the bad for the short term.

    For sure!

I just don't get that some posters think that some of the mistakes (interceptions) are alright because he is a rookie. I am sure Luck himself wouldn't think his mistakes are close to acceptable.

Just because we won the game on an amazing drive doesn't mean Luck will be okay with those mistakes.

People are just getting so emotional...

  3. A lot of people are getting really nasty about this.

    1. Luck is a rookie. FACT

    2. Luck is dealing with a complex offense. FACT

    3. Luck, at times, throws inaccurately leading to interceptions. FACT

    4. Luck throws to receivers covered by more than one defender. This leads to interceptions. FACT

You can't deny any of these. In some cases, Luck will throw an interception where he is the only one at fault. These are his mistakes, and I am sure he would admit to them himself.

The point to this thread is he is currently making some mistakes that anyone, rookie or otherwise shouldn't make. The thing is, he is working on his mistakes.

Ultimately it hasn't mattered on a lot of games. We've won games. We have a really sold record.

  4. Be careful, Aqib Talib is a very good cornerback that can hit, tackle and ball hawk. And he is by far easily the most underrated cornerback in the NFL, not marketable because he played in Tampa Bay, but made alot of plays. That move could very well solidy the NE secondary, and make life hard for Andrew Luck. Especially if they move McCourty to Safety, leaving Alphonzo Dennard to start and Kyle Arrington or Ras-I Dowling in the slot. And to note, even with Secondary struggles, this group still knows how to make key interceptions, forced fumbles and turnovers at just the right time, credit to Bill Belicheck. So he can't just air it out, still has to be decisive and judicous with the ball.

I never understood the concept of forcing turnovers at the "right time". If you are capable of forcing turnovers, why not do it all the time and not just selectively "when the moment is right!!!", like this years Chicago bears?

You might be right though, I don't really know how capable the cornerbacks are for the Pats. All they have to do is be serviceable. If they hold the Colts offense to only 20 points it sure could be a victory for the Pats. We shall see though.

  5. A 9.9 in the 100m? If my math is correct that's an average of 3.96 in the 40yds... Fast to say the least.

Important additions in red. You just made the same mistake that NASA scientists have made. Assuming a value is the same, but having it be measured in meters and yards.

Your math isn't in correct. In 1 meter there is ~1.0936 yards. Therefore he can travel ~109.36 yards in 9.9 seconds. Therefore at top speed he can run 40 yards in 3.62s. People may think that three tenths of a second isn't a big deal, but that is the difference in speed between TY and Luck.

All of this is hogwash though, because it is assuming that he is moving instantly to top speed from a dead stop. Moral of the story, he is darn fast.

  6. lol every year this board has Manning as the MVP.

...and look at what happened last year with no Peyton. I'm just saying that his absence indicated his potential Value to the team.

AP is awesome this year too. I'm just glad I'm not the one responsible for giving out a fancy meaningless award.

  7. oh sorry, i didn't know point out facts was "hating". i can't speak for all his interceptions, but both his interceptions against the panthers, which included a pick 6, were also gift wrapped for him. getting turnovers doesn't make you great...just ask cato june.

So what is in your definition a manly man's interception?

  8. The way I understand it, if the receiver is going to the ground while in the process of completing the catch, he must control the ball all the way to the ground, until his momentum stops. Doesn't matter how many steps he takes, or if he makes a "football move" or not.

They got rid of the "football move" designation in order to reduce the grey area or judgment calls in officiating.

So, for instance, if a player is making a catch and falling to the ground, but has enough control to reach the ball over the goalline, he still has to maintain control of the ball until his momentum stops. If he loses control out of bounds, its an incomplete pass. If he loses control in the field of play and regains it before the ball touches the ground, it's a catch, because the play isn't dead yet. He's still in bounds and the ball hasn't hit the ground.

It can be confusing, but I think it's pretty clear. You have to maintain control of the ball all the way to the ground until your momentum stops, regardless of how many steps you take or how many feet you get in bounds. Once you come to terms with that fundamental requirement, everything falls in line.

I agree with a couple of posters here. I think all the calls were correct except the receiver going to the ground call. At what point does it become a fumble (In general since he was out of bounds)?

Really this all started with Polamalu not possessing the interception in the 2005 playoffs.

  9. So many pundits talked about how the Colts were a two or three win team without Peyton. Many Colts fans thought otherwise and thought we could win a handful of games even without Peyton. It turned out that the "experts" were more or less correct.

This year it seems that the opposite is the case.

  10. I dont know the exact numbers this year because then I would have to go back and look at EVERY SINGLE passing play but I feel pretty confident in saying Powers is targeted plenty. While honestly he is not as bad as some would make him seem (including myself sometimes) he is not a starting Corner on many other NFL teams, he is decent but will and does get abused by bigger wide receivers do to lack of real good ball skills and inability to press

I never hold a CB down for not being able to defend a well timed and thrown slant route (Powers gave up two or three on Sunday), but Powers ideally should be able to hold hold his own on the deeper routes.

I still stand by his tackling though. Once the Titans threw a smoke route to the receiver Powers was covering, and he tackled the receiver for only a yard gained.

    Get well Davis.

  11. They're all excellent RBs, or have been excellent RBs, no one can argue that.

But how many Super Bowl rings....or even Super Bowl appearances exist from that list, even adding Shady McCoy and Jamaal Charles to it?

Indeed, we won our 2007 Super Bowl with....and it could be argued....THANKS to our own "RB-by-committee" approach. The not-so-secret ingredient was our O-line, which was pretty solid that year before Glenn retired and Scott left in free agency. We've struggled there ever since.

So as far as I can remember, we had the opportunity to draft MJD but instead we drafted Addai. Would you have rather had a couple seasons of MJD plus Rhodes instead? Its not an either or situation. It is one were some backs are universally seen as better and more talented than the rest of the league.

So would you have a handful of running backs, where one of them is in the top tier in the league or would you want a handful of average backs?

  12. Its pretty straight forward. The Allen non-fumble was stopped forward progress (he had been turned around and dragged down when the fumble occurred) . The first PI call against Britt was clearly PI. The second one didn't matter because they got a touchdown anyway. Even if the ball was placed just outside the goal line in OT it wouldn't matter, we were running all over their D at the end.
