Only Jets can keep Colts out of playoffs if they win out and finish with same record as Colts but Tennessee can put an end to all that foolishness if they beat them tomorrow.
With the Steelers, Bengals and Ravens all playing one another, I suppose that's right, isn't it? In playing with the playoff generator, that appears to be the case. Apparently, the ESPN clinching scenarios weren't quite as extensive as they should have been. A Pittsburgh loss wasn't mentioned. Apparently, all the Colts need is a Jets loss.
-
With Pittsburgh losing, a win by the Colts in KC practically guarantees the Colts will face the AFC North winner, not Denver(or New England should they lose tonight).
One win by the Colts, one by Baltimore, and they are practically guaranteed to play Baltimore, I believe.

The Texans have infinitely more talent and experience. We're doing pretty well, everything considered. Extremely well. Give it a year or two.

I missed the first 3quarters as I was out watching The Hobbit (couldn't hold a candle to a Colts game, win or loss).
Can anyone help me out by summing up and naming names? Heroes and villains of the game??
The game turned on a handful of plays:
- Moore fumbled at the 1.
- The Texans blocked a punt and returned it for a TD.
- A TD to Reggie was called back for holding.
I could name a few more, but that was the difference in the game, really.
-
Ahhh good point.
Still Brady Quinn I assume too?
I hope.

As of now, it looks like the weather shouldn't be a factor - mid 40's.

If I were forced to place a bet on it, I would bet on the Jets and Bengals both losing one anyway, but I would rather wrap it up in KC and hopefully head to Baltimore.
Despite their road record, it might be better that this game is being played on the road. At home, as favorites, there would be a ton of pressure. They might be better off going into this with a bit of an underdog/road warrior mentality.

The bright side is the Ravens are the #4 seed and if we are the #5 seed, I feel good about going there to Baltimore (unless Ravens choke vs the Giants at home next week).
If the Colts make it, I'm worried Pittsburgh will pass us, sending us to Denver anyway. Or, as you alluded to, Pittsburgh could win the division.
Hopefully, the Colts at least make it.
-
Numbers don't lie. There wasn't much bright side when the Colts won it either, the last decade.
As opposed to all the happy Patriot playoff memories since 2004?

It's not just the sacks, he's hit on practically every pass. Also, seemingly a majortity of his big throws this season were made on the run. Even on the TD to Hilton, his arm was hit and he had to readjust and throw on the run. Luck wouldn't know what to do if he could stand in the pocket and survey the defense.

Again, I don't see how that's relevant.
We're talking about their offensive gameplan and play calling, in comparison with ours.
You based your analysis on offensive success. I'm sure you don't believe talent(on both sides of the ball) to be irrelevent to the success of your offense, or the opposition's.
-
They did.
They moved the ball better, they had more first downs, they converted on third down (we didn't convert a third down until halfway through the fourth quarter), they completed more passes, they had more yards, they had more points, they gave up fewer sacks, they ran the ball better... There really is no way to argue that our offensive coordinator did a better job than theirs did.
I wouldn't argue that, but they also have significantly more talent and experience.
-
They would still need a win or a Jets loss.

Given the uncertainty of the situation, with Chuck's health moving forward, I'm guessing Irsay will do what Dallas did with Garrett and pay him like a head coach to stick around. He'll be made assistant head coach and will be treated as somewhat of a co-head coach, as he should be. At this point, he has more head coaching experience than Chuck does.
-
Let's face it, how well does a team in rebuilding mode with a rookie QB, poor pass protection, below average running game and bottom end defense match up with anyone? Yet, here they are.
Given what has transpired to date, somehow I think they will make it a game.
-
It doesn't really matter how they have gotten to this point. They're here. If they make the leap and begin playing clean football, anything is possible.

In his press conference today, Arians said he wants Luck to take more checkdowns to the backs and TEs. Plus, you've seen a shift in the past few weeks to more quick hitting routes. So, they are moving somewhat in that direction. Hopefully, at some point they strike the right balance.
I'd also like to see Luck run more. The pass off Avery's face mask was fine and all, but given the game situation, I would rather have seen him run for the 1st. A FG puts you ahead, and a 53 yarder is no gimme.
-
I had been thinking that playing Baltimore might be preferable, but seeing the photo of Lloyd Christmas has inspired me.
To paraphrase Arians at the end of the Buffalo game: **** that, we're gonna try to win this thing.

I dont know, the first game on a short week will be tougher to handle if it comes down to the 4th qtr.
The Colts have to make it a 4th qtr. game in order to stand a chance. If we can do that, we might be able to squeak one.
If we let it get away in the 2nd and 3rd qtr. and it becomes a 20 pt. lead or something before the 4th qtr. starts, forget about it.
They only have to get this one, though. Keep it close, win it in the end, then all the pressure is on the Texans coming to Indy for the finale.

Familiarity is a dangerous thing, especially in division games.
That's the interesting thing about this game, though - there is no familiarity. This is a new Colts team with a new coaching staff, new offensive system, new defensive system. I'm not saying it helps either team; just pointing out the fact.
-
Get this one and the pressure builds.
-
if both the Colts and the Texans are 12-4, assuming the Colts win out what seed do we get and do we get a tie breaker. And i am rooting for the Pats right now despite me and my hatred for Brady.
Depending upon what Denver and Baltimore do, anywhere from 2nd to 4th. New England would have to lose two, and Denver lose one for us to get the #1 seed.
-
As long as you have a coach willing to tell it like it is, it's no problem, and Arians and Chuck are willing. Now, with Dungy and Caldwell, it fell on Manning to be the bad guy.
A Steelers loss increases our chances. [Merge]

I think that is true. The Colts only need a Jets loss. Nowhere did I read Baltimore loss + Steeler loss + Jets loss clinches, but correct us if we're wrong, I think it does.
