  1. Coltj82,

Alot of things need to happen for us to be a playoff team. However there is only ONE glaring weakness on our squad as we speak.... Corner... Webb would be the answer. However the cost is too much so there is NO change we land him. Hopefully some of our younger players will emerge at the position.

  2. This thread will be interesting to revisit throughout the season: Make as many bold predictions as you wish.

    1. The Colts will beat the Bears in the season opener 21-17 and the media will suggest how good they always felt the Colts could be in Luck's first year after deeming us the worst team in the league.

    2. I predict Andrew Luck will throw for over 3400 yards and will finish top 3 in the AFC just behind Manning and Brady.

  3. Disappointing that he is suppose to arrive in Indy today and we have heard NOTHING!! You would think this would be the headline story. Our media tends to cover everything else of less importance. Anyone else heard anything? Has he arrived? Is he having dinner with the Receiving core this evening and playing pitch and catch tomorrow? Help me out fellow fans!!

  4. Agreed....5-7 yards is generally standard alignment. However 7-10 is not, especially on 3rd and 3. I guess that was my point of reference. I also agree with the fact that we aren't satisfied totally with our secondary. However I am just optimistic that we are sold on a few of our young ones but looking to add depth and potentially a solid veteren.

It is hard to gauge our Corners based on past games because we typically where in zone coverages.

  5. Why the lack of confidence in the defense? The way I view it us, we cannot be any worse than we have been the last 9 out of 10 years defensively. Our talent pool is pretty much the same as it has been for years. The difference is we will actually put our players in a position to make plays. It is very easy to slow Mathis and Freeney when you know exactly where they are coming from each play. We have had 4 secondary blitzes in 6 years. We have allowed three step quick passes to be thrown as a result of us lining up 10 inches off the ball and working a bail technique for years. Now we will be a little unpredictable, which should create the oppportunity for other players to make plays besides Freeney and Mathis. The 3-4 should also allow them to make more plays from different spots on the field. Im excited about all three phases of the game. We will actually practice special teams now. Click on the link and here our Special Teams Coach talk. There has never been an interview with our Special Teams Coach. Quite honestly, I didn't know we had one.

Anyone else excited about the OTA session at Lucas Oil????????

  6. As a former corner I agree the cushion we have given receivers over the last few years has been way pass ridiculous. I know many fans are skeptical about our secondary play as we approach this season. However one thing we need to consider is that Pagano has been a DB coach for a very long time, dating back to his college stint. I am confident that he has seen something in our core group of players that are on the roster. Now I understand us going after a proven commodity in Jenkins, but if the coaches were as worried as many of us were, we would hear more talk about us going after DB's.

  7. I think it is pretty safe to say that Luck will be just fine this year. Despite what some people say, he has weapons at his disposal. You have a top 10 receiver in Reggie Wayne. You have the top 2 tight ends in college football. One who can split out and take advantage of small corners who we face weekly. The other is as solid as they come at blocking and route running. He has a speedy receiver in Hilton, who is a crease from going to the house every time he touches the football. There is the reliable Austin Collie, who in the slot is as good as gets. Not to mention Donnie Avery!!!

Some may want to argue that some of his targets aren't proven commodities. However anyone who follows football knows that if you have two viable threats on the field that demand attention; the others will simply have to catch the ball because there will be open space on the field to do so.

I am excited about the creativity we will see on the offensive side of the ball. The last 4 years, I have found us to be pretty stale in regards to our play selection. Other defenses caught up with us due to lack of creativity. Areans will create mismatches and allow Luck to be a top 10 quarterback this year!

  8. The excitement around here is simply insane when you look at the changes we have made.....However with that being said, I almost feel like I am in the midst of something special. Many people outside of Indy will say we are simply being unrealistic but minus Manning everyone else was replaceable and have been pretty much replaced.

A buddy of mine on the team pointed out an interesting point to me. Before Grigson and Coach P, there were very limited squat racks and bench machines in the weightroom. He said guys traditionally would hit the weightroom ofcourse, but it was far from the level in which guys are expected to workout now. He mentioned the intensity in which our players are lifting and the cuss words and motivational tactics used in the weightroom that would have never been used before.

So if are wondering if I am excited about the use of cuss words in our weightroom, the answer is YES... I am looking forward to some coaches fired up on the sidelines. I am looking forward to our players playing with a little more emotion. Besides our #12 will have a firey on the field demeanor that I am looking forward to see.

  9. lol.. I would have to say Conner is my 5th... I would also argue Powers is a close 6. He will be much improved this year given some added pressure to the quarterback. Many of the top corners are top corners because they have some sort of pass rush. We allowed quarterbacks last year to step in the pocket for hours last year and played with a cushion the length of my backyard. We will see improved play in our defensive backfield even without the notable names. Also consider our defense has been so predictable for years. This year teams will have to do alot more to prepare for the multiple looks and disguises.

  10. I struggle at times as to whether my loyalty to the team blinds me from reality. However it baffles me that people could suggest this year's team performing as we did last year.

    1. Rookie or not.. Luck is extremely better than all QB's on our roster last year combined.

    2. There will be no shock factor by players as a result of losing Manning.

    3. We have coaches who are firey guys who will demand intensity and execution constantly

    4. We have a defensive system that our players believe in

    5. We will be better at stopping the run

    6. We will get pressure on the quarteback

    7. We will have a returner capable advancing the ball pass the 20 yd line.

    8. We replaced our players who have lingering injuries with players who have something to prove

    9. We return our top 5 defenders and and beef up the middle

    10. We will have a rocking stadium full of real fans who didnt jump off the bandwagon.

    4,

  11. I believe Avery will surprise this year. I think he will really thrive if our system mirrors the one in which the Steelers ran last season. Given I had Antonio Brown on my fantasy squad, I watched the Steelers play quite a bit. Areans does an excellent job of bunching receivers and creating mismatches for defenses. Though our WR's are relatively young, their speed with pose a ton of problems given Fleenor and Allen are capable of spreading the field. While I agree with the statement above stating Avery will produce numbers comparable to Garcon; I think Hilton will be our homeroom hitter.

  12. Why not embrace a coach trying to come in and create some excitement? I like the theme for the offseason. It's refreshing to see 100% participation this week and guys excited about getting after it. I am growing more and more optimistic about the possibilities this year. We are probably a couple playmakers on both sides of the ball from being pretty good. If we can accomplish to add a few in the draft, we will surprise some folks this year.
