Bob is one of my all time favorite Colts.. but he will never be able to play an entire season because his knee is beyond repair. I only wish we could inject every defensive player on the roster with the heart and intensity that Bob has. We would be very hard to beat. I still miss #55 Clint Session. To me he was very similar to Sanders.. only with a bigger frame.

I doubt it.. The rivalry was all about Peyton and the rest of the old cast members. If Andrew lives up to the hype.. maybe the fires will be reignited.

You got me all wrong. No Peyton didn't do it all by himself and there's a few stars on defense, all I'm saying is the team was built around Manning with a simple team concept, score fast and often then pressure the QB. Without a very good QB , the strategy fell apart quickly.

It's only true because the offensive and even defensive systems were built around him. Our Colts needed a good QB at least.
I understand how much Peyton played a role in our success over the years... but.. he didn't do it all by himself. If that was the case.. we would have more Superbowl wins under our belt. We have had more than one star player on the roster. This writer and other people who take credit away from the rest of the players and staff need to go through some sort of Peyton Manning detoxification and rehab program.
I think Peyton is the greatest Qb of all time.. but he didn't carry the entire team like everybody would like to believe. He was one of the biggest guns in our arsenal.. no doubt.. but we also used our other weapons when we went to battle.

Ok.. I get it now.. Peyton played all the defensive positions... he played on special teams... he was the entire offense... he even coached the team too right?

It would be nice to go to playoffs.. but I don't see that happening anytime soon. There have been many players throughout history that was suppose to be great.. but turned out bust. Besides all that.. Luck is just one piece to the puzzle. It takes alot more than one good Qb to be playoff bound.

Everybody on the teams roster has to prove their worth.. including the entire coaching staff. Anytime you take the caulk board and erase everything on it and start over from scratch... you better make sure it works.

I can't see how you can possibly forget a guy who got us to a Superbowl in his first season as a head coach(14-2). Then turn around and get us back to the playoffs the following season(10-6).. even with over 20 guys on injured reserve( if that's not coaching.. what is?).
Anybody who knows football.. understands you can't put all the blame for last season on Jim. We had sooooo!!!! many problems with our players and depth. We had a bunch of injuries and players with NO!! talent. Anybody esle remember the sorry Qb's we had?? We couldn't score to save our life.
The colts fans who disliked Caldwell.. where hurt about the season and needed someone to blame. They didn't like Jim Caldwell personally because he didn't shout.. scream and spit like a mad man every 5 seconds. For some strange reason some people feel you need to act this way to be an inspirational football coach. Dungy conducted himslef with the same class and demeanor and we backed him up.. Why??.. because we was a winning franchise. We have one bad season and everybody say's.. We have a bad head coach because "Jim Caldwell " is emotionless. Stop it... Fans where in the stands and at home screaming at thier tv beacuse we looked so bad on the field and where mad becuase Jim wasn't throwing a hissy fit on the sidelines.
Caldwell will be a Colt forever...

I will say that since i joined this fan forum I have read numerous threads about how the new regime and Luck will make such a big impact. In my opinion.. your statement is the most realistic post i have seen thus far. It makes more sense to me.. and is how I pretty much view the whole situation. I have seen some amazing things from this team in the past.. and hope to see the same in the future. While it's always good to be optimistic about our chances.. we also have to be realistic and truthful.

The thread was about Lucks shorts and somehow people can't get Robert Griffin the third off their mind. I will just assume you talk like that in real life and are not trying to knock RG3's vocabulary skills. You do understand the difference between someone using a different vernacular to express themselves and poor speech & grammar..... Right?
One is a product of your up bringing and your own personal style thrown in..(which is normal and makes us different)
The other is just plain ignorance.. (which is very offensive to most people to be tagged with)

"The way we used to win" put us in position last year to where our roster was so devoid of talent, that when you took away our best player, we went 2-14 and were the worst NFL team on the planet.
Bill Polian obviously couldn't be trusted to infuse this team with talent because he's the one who put us in this position, by f'ing up the past 5 drafts & refusing to sign any impact free agents. Tony Dungy retired 4 years ago, in case you missed that.....thus, a new regime is running the show.
One bad season vs multiple years of success??.. I think we where doing something right considering no other NFL team was able to do it. Bill polian made some bad choices no doubt.. but you can't just throw away all the things he did for the team. The positives out weigh the negatives. We made the playoffs every year after we got Tony Dungy as head coach. That speaks for itself. Tony Dungy got us our first Superbowl win in Indianapolis and left on his own free will to be with his family and pursue something else. He was not fired.. in case you missed that.
The fact that the anchor on the team (Peyton) was missing and the team was riddled with injuries had alot to do with our poor season. Everybody knows that the man under center has atleast 60% to do with a team winning or losing. Our offensive line was shot!!.. We had three terrible Qb's on the team. That's why we sucked.
Fans in Indianapolis got soooo spoiled off our success over the past decade.. that we forgot what it felt like to lose that bad. That's the reason everybody was screaming for change. We all freaked out and turned on the team we claimed to love so much. Now we are in the "rebuilding".. stage.
I'm not saying that we are gonna suck now because of all the changes.. All i said was "It will be a very interesting 5 years"

I agree 100%.. I have been saying this to my family and friends since they started cutting players and coaches at the end of the season. Some moves where right on.. some plain stupid to me.
The Colts made it to the playoffs for so many years because of the team Tony Dungy.. Bill Polian.. and Peyton Manning help build and groom. Everything about the way we use to win has been thrown away(Stupid). We will have a bunch of untested rookies and coaches.
The next 5 years will be very interesting.

What is the point of all this hate for (Heisman Trophy Winner) Robert Griffin 3rd??...... Luck and Griffin are just two talented Men playing a sport that they both love. Anybody who wants to criticize and try to analyze them before they step foot on an actual NFL playing field on game day.. is ignorant. It's nothing wrong with rooting for who you like and want under a Colts helmet.. but it's another to call somebody a bust or arrogant just because you like the other guy. You are just letting everyone see whats trully behind your hate... I will leave that part alone.
What happend to bleeding blue and just wanting good players on the team so the Colts can win on game day.. no matter who is under center?

After all the twist and turns Irsay has done to the Colts by eliminating everybody except the mascot (Blue.. better find some wood to knock on).. nothing he does now will surprise me. I'm just gonna wait until the first regular season game and see who's all on the field.. then go from there.

Anybody who's been paying attention to the NFL knows who Irsay's boy is ..."Luck"... He never even showed any real interest publicly about Robert Griffgin 3rd. What's the point of putting on a song and dance for the Colts when you and the free world knows who Irsay wants? Just so Irsay can lie and say he gave both of them a fair look?.. Please. RG3's agent is looking for the best fit for him. Possibly injuring himself by tap dancing for a team that's rebuilding from ground zero.. and is already set on another guy is not in his best interest.
Will Luck or Griffin be bust or will one stand out?... We will all just have to wait and see. Both are very talented.

(QB) Peyton Manning: Best we have ever had under center.
(WR) Marvin Harrison: In my opinion.. The next best thing to Jerry Rice.
(RB) Edgerrin James: Strongest running back the Colts had.
(LT) Tarik Glen: The man was a beast!!..
(SS) Bob Sanders: The heart of the defense.. he played at 100mph.. just too bad he broke down alot.
(DE) Dwight Freeny: Two words.. spin move..
(DE) Robert Mathis: Fast.. Freeny's twin.. and he kinda looks like Kratos from God Of War..lol
(WR) Clarence Verdin: Not one of the best WR.. but was one of the best punt returners we ever had.
(RB) Eric Dickerson: Up there with Edge.. but was more finesse than power.. I couldn't get down with the goggles though..lol

I agree with you on this one. Orlovsky was just one of the three bad quarterbacks we had... nothing more.
