  1. His answer would be quite disappointing and political. It's like when they asked him and Tebow about their new roles "I'm just here to do my best and fill whatever role.....blah blah blah". lol.......

    Here.....I'll answer it for Peyton;

"Peyton, who do you think the Colts should take with the #1 overall pick"?

"Well I think it's an exciting opportunity for the Colts as well as Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin. The Redskins and the Colts would both be very fortunate to have either of these guys as their QB."

Inside his head Peyton's thinking "Are you kidding me? Luck or bust".

I don't think your far wrong there if the media was to ask. We'll never know what went on behind closed doors during the whole saga but I do wonder if he had any input to offer the FO on the his replacement once it was decided he was leaving.

It's getting to the point now like with Manning where you wish the Draft was done and dusted so we could stop the endless media speculation and non stories. So far this one is winning for me as the most inane article on Mr Luck

  2. Do you think RG3 would prefer the Colts over the 'Skins? I know you can't say for sure but the impression that you get from Luck is he genuinely wants to play for us, though he would be stupid of course to say anything different. Just seems a very neat fit given the type of player/personality he's appears to be, his interaction with Peyton previously at the Manning camps etc etc.

Actually I'm suprised that no-one has asked #18 who HE thinks the Colts should take.

  3. As stated by many above I can't see it not being Luck that they take but it's not 100% confirmed and nor will it be till draft day I don't think. That can be put down to due diligence as a lot can happen between now and the big day. Even if they do strike a deal in the background I can't see it being made public knowledge.

My preference is for Luck, but if they were to take RG3 that I'd still give my full backing to the man under centre, even if I was somewhat grinding my teeth!

  4. Seems like a no lose gamble as I can't see there being much cap hit for this guy, if he works out great move, if he doesn't we're no worse off. I'd still like to take a WR in the 2nd or 3rd though depending on whose on the board.

His website seems a bit OTT when you've not had a steller career so far, though I'll offer him a deal right now, 1000 yard season and I'll buy a t-shirt!

  5. lol....classic. "Pass Brush". I'm out of 'likes'....someone do him up with a few for that remark.

    Why thank you.

After reading all the comments made… Including the actual commentary from the NFL on his pro day. I think Luck is going to be the right fit, for a Manning type of team. I don’t know if that’s what they are building though.

This is the part that scares me, are they building a Vick type ball team or a Manning type?? With the Center they just chose (giaganto islander with speed) and the keeping the short pass Reggie Wayne receiver… I’m thinking they are going with a speed run Vick type offense. Which means they are going to have to build back up the Dungy defense for all the missed rush plays they are going to try to pull off. If they are building this team RGIII is the guy.

I don’t think they are going to have the same team play as before at all. With Garcon, Gonzalez, and Pollak Gone (big guard) this is going to be a fast paced team not looking for a 40 yard pass.

So, then it comes down to the fans twittering to an owner all day who actually reads this stuff and sometimes listens to his coaching staff. Which is why we wound up with 3 Quarterbacks last year. I say we should have kept the one that started winning games from last year (but we didn’t) and use them in tangent with whichever 1st rounder they pick.

The team is certainly heading in a different direction but from what I can gather Stanford was quite a run orientated offense so might be not a bad thing. Manning's college days were well before my time, so I can't comment with any certainty, but I get the impression he was a mostly a pocket passer whereas Luck has shown he has the mobility aspect to his game in addition to the pre-snap smarts. Think he'll certainly need it with some of the pressure the OL will bleed next year!

Although I think both Luck and RG3 are good prospects I'm a firm believer that a lot of the debate of Luck vs RGIII has been stirred up by media sources to keep interest in the draft. Takes away some of the suspense when the top 3 picks have been nailed on for a while now.... even pre Redskins trade (on the basis that whoever traded up was trading up to take RG).

  6. Don't forget even though pro-day doesn't mean much Luck was playing in the elements (wind) and being chased around by a broom and other objects you wouldn't want to be chased around by. Sheesh I would rather be chased around by Mario Willams than.......................

Excuse my ignorance but I thought the term was Pass Rush not Pass Brush!

Seen highlights of both Pro Days, nothing unexpected really. Though I do think Luck was making a point about his arm strength by throwing into the wind etc. Felt that RG's day was a bit more gaudy(?). I was more impressed with Luck's interview afterwards, I know these days they're coached on the media stuff too but seemed to come across as a having a genuine love of what he was doing and the desire to make it at the next level.

I'd say he's the best fit all round to be the next Franchise QB for the Colts not just for his potential ability. Quietly looking forward to next season, I don't expect a winning one ,but certainly can't be as bad as last time around!

  7. It's a coordinated dog and pony show.

Amen to that judging by what I've seen of RG3's. I suppose though there still is the element of the pressure of the scouts watching and you still have to deliver even under helpful conditions. I read somewhere that the Pro Days were meant to be a chance for players to take the feedback from the teams at the combine and show they are willing to work at any issue that were brought up.

Either way the old cliché of form is temporary and class is permanent is going to get trotted our here. 1 good season does not a summer make, and even though a good college career is no guarantee of NFL success, Luck's numbers deserve some respect certainly given they were over multiple seasons.

  8. Welcome. I've been a fan of Sheffield Wednesday since my sister married a man from the city almost 40 years ago. Of course they've been divorced for nearly 20 years now, but I'm still a fan. :P I doubt, however, that I could make any kind of cogent comment on any aspect of the team. It can't be easy from that side.

I'm impressed that you recognised the Steel City reference! Not to be confused with Pittsburgh even if we do have our own Steelers here. I'm not from Sheffield myself so not a Wednesday or Sheffield United fan (now that's a rivalry!). Both are currently fighting in the 3rd tier of our football leagues for promotion after being relegated from the top division.

  9. Greetings all from across the pond, I've read these forums for a while without ever signing up but given the portent times in Indy seemed like a good time to get involved.

As a UK NFL fan the whole reason I got into the game was after being talked into watching some late night coverage over here by my 49ers supporting flatmate and I happened to come across a certain Mr Manning and even then you could tell you were watching a guy who was a "bit special." Thus began my life as a Colts fan! Given how good Peyton was and how he was the heart and soul and a franchise it's no surprise how fierce some of the debate has been, at least it shows people care I'd say.

My thoughts are that this situation was always going to occur at some point, certainly when Peyton retired but was sped up by his injury leading to a very bad season and the availability of Luck (and now RG3 you could argue) in the draft. The Colts success over the last few years was based on a unsustainable set up of a few genuine stud players (who were paid like studs), not a great deal of depth, some misses on draftees, and arguably some mediocre talent getting overpaid. Either the Cap room or injuries were going to catch up eventually and here we are, can't change the situation, just work on rebuildng/reloading, a process that will go a heck of a lot better with support from the fans. My main worry is that Luck (or whoever they bring at QB), will be unfairly judged against a Peyton at his prime. There some pretty big shoes to fill, being a NFL rookie is daunting enough prospect let alone without that millstone round your neck.
