  1. In terms of rank taking into consideration talent and depth

    1.Quarterback

2.ILB (We appear good top to bottom here)

3.WR (we have speed, veteran leadership, athleticism and a little size with many of our receivers having decent to good hands)

4.Tight Ends (We have depth and plenty of untapped talent in our young Tight Ends Fleener and Allen

5.OLB's (I see alot of potential here as well it just has to come together, if it does then lookout)

6.Running Backs (We have depth here and all have shown flashes of very good)

7.Defensive Tackles (I like how Mookie has played well but we dont know what we will get out of Tevaseu and we have a lack of depth there (currently 2) I think when and if we get Chapman back that will potentially improve the rotation

    8. Defensive Ends(I like how Moala has played so far and with Redding back I think we will get better but I am hoping Nevis and Matthews step up)

9.Corner (We added Vontae which on the surface and paper is a drastic improvement but if he was to go down with an injury then we would be right back to square 1

10.Safeties (We have Bethea an excellent safety also Tom Z is a decent not great. We have a lack of quality depth at the position)

Good assessment. I might flip DT and DE, but both are rough. Safety has no depth, but at least the starters are good. I feel better about that than either of the DL.

  2. I agree 1st unit didn't look great. The D had a hard time stopping the run when Jackson was in, he was picking up 6yds a carry. They second unit looked much better with Hughs, Nevis and Co.

I totally agree. If you think our defense looked good, you need to rewatch the first series. We were saved by a false start penalty. Bradford and Sjax were practically moving the ball at will.

  3. What's everyone thoughts on the TE position? Where would you take Gronk/Graham? What about the next tier of guys? It's even feasible to wait until the end of your draft and roll with upside guys like Gresham or Cook.

Personally, if I miss on the top 2, I'll be waiting. Fred Davis is a favorite of mine who tends to fall later, and I really like Olsen even later.

  4. My biggest tip would be learn your league settings inside out. There is a big variance from league to league on scoring settings that can drastically change the value of players. What positions (DT specific? CB specific?) and how many of each you start also affect value. That being said...

You can wait on DBs. Even if they score relatively high points per season, the turnover from year to year is insanely high. Last year, guys like Kam Chancellor and Darian Stewart were drafted really late and ended as solid starters. Find some sleepers you like and target them later while prioritizing DE and LB.

You'll probably want to get an elite DE. JPP will be one of if not the first IDP off the board, sometimes as early as round 3/4. You can get other guys a bit cheaper, but in my mind it's the most shallow position.

You're correct in assuming LB is the bread and butter of IDP. The problem is, the production doesn't decline nearly as sharply as the DE position. I like to get an elite guy anyway for the security of production.

Though some elite guys might come off the board sooner, I'd say rounds 8-9 are when guys really start going. It really depends on your offensive draft strategy and how comfortable you are with your starters (or lack of depth behind them). 5. What's yours? Lots of talk by "experts" saying to avoid the RB early plan and take a safer route, usually QB. Then again, there's quite a bit of depth at QB and not so much at RB. And of course there's the studs at WR and TE...

Let's say we're looking at a "standard" league that starts 1QB/2RB/3WR/TE, non-PPR. If you play in a different style league, feel free to post those strategies as well.

I'm going to be targeting a RB in round 1. I also want one of Gronk or Graham; I might reach at the back-end of round 1 to get them if I don't like the RBs. I'll be waiting on a QB. I'm planning to go QBBC with two of Big Ben, Cutler, RGIII, Schaub, Freeman, and Flacco.

  6. If you want to talk IDP, Bethea and Angerer are both worth monitoring. There's a good chance they'll be overvalued after strong seasons last year though.

Zbikowski could be a decent late option (and will at least eat into Bethea's production). Conner also will be a nice depth value with his shift inside. Keep an eye on Powers in CB-specific leagues, though I don't think he'll be worth a roster spot.

Mathis loses what value he had with the switch to LB. Same with Freeney.

  7. Not sure I'm buying Bradshaw with his injury history and David Wilson in the mix. He has the same risk/reward as Beanie, but is more expensive.

Even though he's a rookie, it's hard to dislike Trent Richardson. He'll be a 3-down workhorse from the onset and even if he struggles shear volume should keep him productive.

How about Darren McFadden? If you're willing to roll the dice, it's not hard to imagine him being a Top 5 guy. In the back-end of 12 team drafts, I'd be happy with a pair of Richardson/McFadden.

Reggie Bush is another option in the middle rounds. He had a career year last year and most anticipate him to regress, especially if Daniel Thomas can improve this offseason. But, Bush might be the best receiver on the Dolphins now. Word is Philbin will return him to his "hybrid" RB/WR role. I don't think 150/700 rushing and 60/500 receiving with 6-7 TD's is out of the question which would make him a borderline RB1/2 yet again.
