  1. I know he doesn't get much love here but he is exactly the type of receiver the colts would love. He is huge, can stretch the field, killer redzone target and he loves to block. I saw some of his blocks and they were huge hits. If teams try to double TY, they would pay for it.I know people will say WR isn't a need but its an investment. Receivers take time to get up to speed. Usually at least two years. We were spoiled with how fast TY got going. In two years, Reggie will be retired and Nicks might be long gone. Getting a potential #1 receiver now is great value at 59. Most years he would be a mid first round guy. Crazy depth at WR in this draft

  2. I have Benjamin at 35.   That's 3 spots below the first round.   And he's not a consensus first rounder.   Plenty of people have him in the 2nd round.    I'm not alone.

As for Borland,  I have him in the middle of the 2nd round.   Right in the middle.   I'm sure there are some NFL teams who have a first round grade on him.     I also think there are some who have a 3rd round grade on him.    But I suspect most have a 2nd round grade.

I'd agree,  there's little chance he gets out of the 2nd.    That's one reason I put him in the middle of the 2nd round.

Sorry man. I must have misunderstood your post. Thought you meant they were going in the third. My bad

  3.     This draft is deep at the front end at WR and CB. There is a very good possibility that the 59th pick will be one of these positions. Safety is not deep and likely the top 5 will be gone and there is a big drop off after that. There will very likely be a run on pass rushers too and likely the guys available at 59 would be reaches. Likely better value at 90 for OLB. If I were forced to put money on it, my guess is there will be a WR or CB available that would normally be a first round guy but fell due to depth. I'm leaning more to WR as it is the deepest position by far.

I know people keep saying we don't NEED a wr. We do NEED a safety. If there isn't value at 59, they wont pick a safety. Simple. Teams get very low on talent when they reach for perceived need early in draft.

Also, pass rush can be improved by more than just the rush back position. Creative blitzes using guys like landry can be effective, sending good pass rushing ILB can be effective, getting a good initial jam on receivers can be effective. Just because we didn't get sacks outside of Mathis, doesn't mean we NEED another pass rushing OLB if value isn't there

  4. I gave up on Walter Football months ago. I remember they had Adrian Hubbard mocked to us for like 4 months. I'm not sure why we would draft Brandon Coleman that early, or at all. He's like a 6th round prospect, I don't care how tall he is.

Adrian Hubbard would be a solid pick for the Sam backer position. Great length, very good at dropping back at coverage, good at setting the edge. Needs more moves in the pass rush though. He's a terrible pick for rush backer but great for sam backer.

  5. If you are drafting a pass rusher, it needs to be from a position other than rush backer. Coaches and GM have stated werner is the rush back of the future and they are happy with him. A sam backer would be a good pick up. Van Noy in the second or Hubbard in the third would be solid. Both are good in run d and cn cover well and have showed potential as a rusher. A rush from the interior would be nice too. Maybe Quarles in the third. Very disruptive. Borland can provide a pass rush when blitzing. Mc Nary also showed potential when blitzing too

  6.      If the colts do draft a safety, one the biggest things will be his tackling ability. I know people want a true center fielder type FS but so far that's not the system they want to play. They  want two safeties who can be interchangeable. Last year they were both very physical hard hitting guys. Buccanon would fit that mould very well. Bailey would be pretty good as well with linebacker background although he isn't a huge hiitter but has great coverage abilities. Loston would be great around the box and can drop into a zone but isn't great at man coverage. Joyner is a great tackler and playmaker but might get washed out in the box due to size limitations and will get eaten up by tall tight ends

  7.      I'd be very happy getting Borland in the second but it is very unlikely. Apparently many scouts have given him first round grade. He is a tackling machine, slips off blocks very well, is rarely fooled, takes great angles and drops into a zone well. He is not great at man coverage and that's why he isn't a top 15 pick along with less than ideal size. He just makes plays.

Landry is a player who I wouldnt be excited about. Id be fine with it but not stoked. He would be our #4 receiver if everybody is healthy but would give us a solid player and depth for next year when reggie and nicks are FA.

  8. I just checked out ESPN.com, NFL.com and CBSSports.com for Bailey a few weeks ago for Gavin.    He loves Bailey.

Bailey was somewhere between a 4-6 round pick on all of them.    If you have websites that are showing Bailey as a two,  I'd seriously question that website.

Sure, everyone has opinions.....     but most aren't worth the internet paper they're written on.

Only a small number are worth anything.

    Just checked now:

    cbs - 3-4

    draftek 3-4

    walter football - 2-3

    espn 5-6

    nfl 5-6

  9. When you get a chance, take a look at this write-up on Vereen.     This write-up struck me as worthy of the 90th pick in the draft.

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/brock-vereen?id=2543820

For what it's worth,  ESPN's Scouts Inc has Vereen with a mid-4th round grade.

They also have Bailey with a 5th round grade, and so does NFL.com

NFL.com hasnt updated their board in forever. They still have Donald going in mid rounds and dee ford in the fourth. I think bailey is higher on espn board now two. Bailey is a late second or third pick on most sites I look at anyway. Everybody has their opinions

  10. You have to take the systems into account when comparing the two. Last year with philly running that crazy high tempo offense, they were able to set up a lot of deep passes to DJax  when teams were caught off guard. He was also very dangerous with dump off passes. with that offense, DJax is the better choice. If you are looking at a power running ball control type offense, that changes. Nicks runs a more complete route tree and is much better catching the ball in traffic. He is useful in blocking as well. For the colts, Nicks is the better receiver. For Eagles, DJax. Nobody knows what Redskins offense will be next year so who knows there.

  11. Seems to be a guy nobody on this forum is talking about but I think would be a great pick at 59 if he is still there. Led the nation in sacks, great against the run, great at setting edge, and can drop back into zone coverage. Not sure why so many other teams fans would love this guy but he isn't even mentioned here

  12. McGill is too much of a project to be that high or our draftboard.

Loston should turn into a good player in the right scheme.

Don`t see him at all as the Interchangeable S we would go for in the 3rd.

I think McGill could come in and play corner in our scheme right away. He is quite good in man coverage. Could also be very good as a center fielder type FS which he has already played. I think Loston is a great replacement for Bethea. Both are excellent tacklers and great around the box. Both can run down the field with tight ends but neither are great as a center fielder. The way thinks are falling in a lot of mocks I see and participate in, there arent great value picks for safeties in the second round and I think he is best available safey in third. Actually in many mocks, McGill isn't available at 59 and Loston is gone by 90

  13. 2nd Round - Keith Mc Gill DB, Utah - Big long physical DB with great movement skills. Has played corner and free safety and that versatility is key. I know some will feel that this is a reach but I would really disagree. He is a 2-3 round projection in some places and a 3rd in others. Since our pick is at the end of the second, his value is great.

3rd Round - Craig Loston, S, LSU- Very intelligent and consistent safety who compares to eric reid. Very solid in the box, great tackler and big hitter. Can also turn and run with tight ends, backs.

5th Round - Trai Turner, G, LSU - solid prospect who needs some refinement. Killer run blocker. Fits power run game perfectly. Needs to improve pass protection but fits our scheme well down the road

6th round - Max Bullough, ILB, Mich St. - very physical linebacker who led one of the countries best defenses. Very good against the run. Very smart player. Not great in coverage.

7th round. Arron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma - Nobody can really guess what will happen by this point but if he falls due to ACL tear, he would be good to stash on PUP list until next year

I know people will be wondering were the pass rushers are but I think most of the names being thrown around here will be gone by pick 59. Smith, Att, Murphy have been consistently going in early to mid 2nd on almost every mock I do. Quarles might be a good pick though if he's there. An inside pass rush is just as disruptive and an outside rush. He would be Reddings replacement down the road

  14. I'm going to throw out a different name that hasn't been mentioned at all here:  Craig Loston, S, LSU. Very Solid player. Often compared to former teamate Eric Reid. Excellent player. Big hitter and great tackler. Can turn and run with tight ends in coverage. Not great at playing center field but I dont think thats what colts are looking for. Will take over for Bethea very well. Remember the mantra "need to run and stop the run". Loston will help with that. 3rd round guy

  15. I'm totally not saying Grigson is going to go after Mack here. I really doubt he is but you do need to at least consider this. If Grigson was going to go after Mack (or any other center) do you think he would say "we are in trouble at center, we really need someone"? Nope. He is publically saying he is fine with what we have. That way if things don't work out, you have shown support for who you do have and you haven't given agents more leverage
