And to all of you wanting us to draft a qb with our 1st pick.  I am far more concerned about our defensive scheme/philosophy/talent then I am about our starting qb. I believe the coaching , scheme and talent need to evaluated at the end of the season on the defensive side of the ball

I know ... crazy how everyone is concerned about the single most important position on the team.

JB's play is giving them no reason not to look for an upgrade.  His play these last two games will probably seal it for them.

Oops, I misread and missed the "not" ... read it as "no reason to look for an upgrade". :headspin:  I am in agreement.

I've pretty much ruled out any of the top 3 QB's now.

It does give us additional options now though.

Can take BPA with 1st, or trade back and take a QB and accumulate more picks.

Or we can trade up in the 20's and draft QB, or stay put at Washington's spot.

If we like one of the QBs I think you pay the price to move up regardless of price (unless it was just really ridiculous).

It isn't but lets be real, it is not like if we lose Andrew Luck would be there for us to draft. I mean people are in love with Jordan Love for cry and out loud and he is far from a sure thing. This isn't 2011 where we were 0-10 and winning made no sense when Andrew was waiting to be drafted at #1.

Doesn't matter if there is a Luck caliber QB available or not ... we need a QB, and there is a good chance we will likely to take a shot at one in the draft regardless.  So winning this meaningless game could mean either the QB that would have dropped now doesn't and now we either don't get him or we have to pay more to move up.  I just don't see the upside to winning meaningless games when having a higher draft pick is more valuable especially with our needs and where we could have been picking.  And as a bonus we sent another QB needy team higher as we went lower.  But we won against a team that just fired it's coach, is using it's 3rd string QB,  and has nothing to play for ... yay!

Of course we desperately needed to lose.
But it is a very good thing to win at home to sooth the people that have paid the outrageous prices to attend.

Even if I had paid to go to this game I would still want a loss ... a good game that ended in a loss would have been fine ... If I had had tickets for this game I would have rather watched Chad Kelly.

Some people are so anti-JB they would rather have Fat Albert as QB. They can't even enjoy a team blowout win without bashing JB. We could win 55-0 and JB would still suck in their minds.

    38-6 Indy.

Hard to get excited about beating a team that has already checked out, in a meaningless game, where we are risking injuries, and losing draft position... yippee

Who is we? I don't see a franchise in the draft other than the likely #1 pick.

Colts ... I don't know if there is a Qb they have their eye on or not, but it would suck to miss out on him (or any other top player they may want) because we won a meaningless game.  We are beating up on a team that has already checked out ... big deal.

Irsay does not meddle with the GM till it's time to fire them.

He won't change with his history.

I think Irsay is a good owner who stays out of most things.  But I believe that he is involved with decisions of this magnitude that potentially change the course of the franchise.  I think if you believe he didn't make it known who he wanted when we chose Luck you are kidding yourself.  I would say he made the Manning decisions as well.  He may not come out and dictate who Ballard chooses in the 1st round this coming draft, but I would bet a large sum of money his opinion on the matter is known and weighs heavy in the decision process.

There were a few in the media saying it but I can't recall anyone in here saying it. If there was it may have been a couple of people. If you look at the poll nobody is saying it.

Well definitely not saying it now ... even some of his biggest cheerleaders are realizing the painful truth and turning down the level support.

Also, it is because many fans see the writing on the wall.  It feels like Brissett will be the starter for next season too.  It doesn't leave much to be excited about.  He can't make the reads to suddenly change into something else.

I agree ... I will have a hard time getting excited for next season if JB is the QB.  I am not going to stop watching or anything drastic,  but how I prioritize watching/going to games against other weekend activities may take a dip.

Thing of it is I don't think 1 person has ever went as far as saying he is a franchise QB in here. I do not recall it. I have stuck to my same opinion all year. Even when we were 5-2 I was calling JB above average. I was saying he isn't bad and we can games with this guy. I defend him mainly when someone says he sucks and blames everything on him. That just isn't right IMO when you have had the injuries we have had. Like I have always said though the QB and coach gets most of the blame. It has always been like that with fans as most just see it that way and do not look at other factors.

I am not going to go through and search through all the posts.  But, I know I read several comments earlier in the season along the lines of JB being a franchise QB (a top QB, Colts future QB, no need to look for another QB, as good or better than X or Y franchise QBs, etc ...) especially after Houston, KC, and the Denver endzone pass.

  12. I'm not even mad at him. Why risk your career for a team going nowhere this season and who is likely not re-signing you; and even if they did they are going to try to give you  low contract based on the numbers you put up with the back up QB.  I think what Luck did is worse than Ebron.

In the 5 years I have been here I think JB has got more criticism in here than any other player or coach. I thought Grigson and Pagano got a lot but JB has them blown away. JB even blows away Trent Richardson lmao .  What is funny is JB isn't even that bad, he may not be a franchise QB but is average at worse.

I think one reason JB takes so much heat is that the organization whether intentional or just coach speak gave fans the impression he was fully capable of stepping in and being the franchise QB.  A lot of fans fully bought into the hype and pushed that narrative as well.  Then when it became obvious to many he was not franchise level and his flaws were obvious many posters insisted on continuing to push the narrative that JB is the man. I believe the JB defenders digging their heels in with constant excuses even as more flaws were discovered and proven caused him to take more heat than he he would have taken otherwise.

I still think is an above average QB.

I think average-below average starter is more accurate ... above average means he is 16th or better.  I think at this point there are about 16 other QBs I believe are better and several more who are probably better or will end up being better.

Yeah. Cause this has worked out great for the teams always drafting at the top.
    Browns

    Bears

Vikings- Had to sign couldn’t hit in draft

    Broncos

Titans- had to trade for one

    Redskins

    Jets

    Dolphins

    Bills

But your right I would rather stink it up and keep drafting then have a team that gets in the playoffs at 9-7 or 10-6 and have a chance to get on a run. eyeroll GIF

This list does not fit the narrative you are trying to put forward.  Only 2 would even be close and even they had chances.

Browns and Redskins don't even count; they are dysfunctional franchises who had plenty of chances but couldn’t get out of their own way.

Dolphins, Titans, and Bears all could have had good QBs if not for trying for retreads, sticking with a player too long (Mariota, Tannehill), and/or missing when they had good players available to draft (Ryan, Mahomes, Watson). Also jury still out on Trubisky.

Vikings and Broncos have not had the best luck with QBs lately, but they have also lingered in the mediocre to good record zone a lot which doesn't help them getting a high draft pick for QB . They also got a few good seasons out of retreads which helped them in the short term, but not the long term. Although in the Broncos case I am sure they will take their SB with PM.

I will give you the Jets, they have had some bad luck. When they did have good picks there wasn’t much available; although jury still out on Darnold (also they could have taken Lamar Jackson). Buffalo also had some bad luck for a few years, but they also blew their chance to draft Mahomes (though Allen may still turn into something).

During the last few years all these teams have had periods where they had a player/or players  as good or better than JB and it didn't amount to much other than keeping them from a top draft pick. If you don't have an very good - elite QB you are just playing the lottery hoping for one of those all the stars perfectly aligned runs that rarely happen.

61 people voted #3 = a landslide, sorry haters you lose. People with sense know JB is probably not a franchise QB but also know he is above average and doesn't suck.

Sorry, must not have scrolled up enough and accidentally grabbed it from where you quoted 2006bestcoltsever.
