The rules were in place.  Refs were allowing Dbs to get away with a lot of contact, but the Pats ratcheted it up to a point that even the ESPN commentators were showing the worst cases and saying they got away with murder in that game.

The result was the officials were instructed to call PI instead of letting them play, a year too late for Indy though.

Mmmm, l believe tugging at Jerseys and grabbing were specifically introduced in that off season.

What if the refs whistled half of the pass interference that the Pats committed in the 2003 AFC championship?

Maybe I should phrase it what if we had any other crew officiating than Walt "tuck rule" Coleman's?

Well, at least they changed some rules.🥱

Ever notice, it seems to be after the Colts get violated in a game, they modify or create a new rule in the off season so it doesn't happen again without a penalty?

Now, THAT l'm getting sick of.

That play was an incredible play, but you could be right on the "what-if?" If Harper hits the sideline and takes the house, it would be one of the all-time greatest defensive plays in the history of the game, given the circumstances.

Roth made a great play. He didn't know which way Harper was going and turned just in time to trip him up on his way down.

I still don't know how he was so upfield after his handoff....

  4. I'm gonna state the obvious with a psychological twist l haven't read.

Houston missing the point after, the thought "we've got thing" began creeping into my frontal lobe. Then, to see how we were driving, it really felt like we were destined to win. As that last pass was in the air, l sat up in bed with "YES!" on the tip of my tongue.

    And then, 🤮

  5. Wow, another feel good topic... 😁

Ok, '95 AFCCG, Lamont Warren getting barely tripped up in the backfield on 3rd down with daylight in front of him, forcing the Colts to punt instead of running the clock down further.

We could do a whole topic of what ifs with that game. I chose to pick a more obscure play.

Baltimore- Oakland '77 playoffs. 3rd down in over time, Jones misses Chester on a deep route that would have put the Colts in FG range.

    Ahhh, Good times... 😡

Did I unintentionally make a pun or a joke?

I ment what I said. I just want the media to actually ask the tough questions for a change and hold him accountable.

I agree, but unfortunately there's a balance act that always leaves us fans scratching our heads. It's that way everywhere.

I like what he has done this season on a in the big picture and he was in a very difficult position to be the starter for like 13 games. What I don’t understand is how he was just so off target in the biggest game of the year. I know this has been discussed, but I just don’t see the Colts resigning him. Thoughts??

Big picture, Shane brought Minshew to Indy to help teach AR the offense, not to start 10+ games. That plan fell apart with AR's injuries.

My bottom line is this season could have been MUCH worse if not for imagination and the will to win. (In most games, anyway).

Its not that, we finished 5th in sacks.   The secondary is young and doesnt have a play maker in the group.

We will be in the market for line backer with Shaq gone too

I don't have particulars, is there a way to see how many sacks came from blitzes?

I don't think it has much to do with the lack of experience. Bradley ran the same defense last year with experienced DBs and Eberflus ran a similar style defense as well for many years before that. This is just what Ballard looks for when hiring defensive coordinators. He believes in this philosophy. The problem is that you need guys like Mathis and Freeney to have an excellent defense. We don't have those guys. No where close to it.

Right, l think we agree on priorities. Playing zone requires QB pressure and since blitzing is minimal in Gus' defense they need to upgrade the line.

  10. Even though I'm a little disappointed, both buy into the "keep the play in front of you" zone. I can't blame them, with the lack of experience there is in the secondary.

We'll see the same scheme next year which puts a stud DE either through the draft or FA a huge priority.

  11. I'll give Ballard another year (l called him and told him so).

We may have been Division Champs if it weren't for terrible officiating (Cleveland) and gambling addicts in the secondary.

I think we're back on track from Luck's untimely retirement and we gained tremendous depth this year.

AR had most of the season to get familiar SS's offense and hopefully no surgeries for JT.

Plus l don't think we're going to lose much to FA.

So in summary: l can't believe he dropped the @&+$?$  ball!!!!
