  1. The reason I became a Colts fan as well.  Pretty cool story about Bert.  This was back in 1992 or so.  Long before you could just look things up on the internet.  Back in the late 70's, I had an SI poster of Bert...over the years and after I moved out of the house, my mom must have pitched it.  So I was on a vision quest to find it years later.  I was calling around to various bars in Baltimore hoping they'd have one on the wall that they'd sell to me, card shops in Baltimore, etc.  Finally, I decided to call the NFLPA to see if they could point me in some direction on memorabilia on Bert.   Well they didn't give me any intel on memorabilia but they did give me his direct phone number at this business in Louisiana!  So of course I called.  Palms sweaty, etc...a lady answers the phone (assume it was his admin) and I calming reply "Bert Jones please".  She asks who's calling and I state my name like he was expecting my call.  Next thing I know, I'm being transferred and Bert picks up the phone!!  I'm on the phone with Bert Jones trying not to sound like a complete buffoon/stalker!  So basically I told him what I was looking for and he asked me for my fax number (remember this is 1992).  So he faxes me over a handwritten list of every magazine that he appeared on the cover of along with a fax cover sheet that he signed.  I have both pages framed of course.  I asked him if does many autograph shows and he said no but he offered to sign my jersey if I shipped it to him with a return shipping envelope which of course I did.  He sent it back a few days later with an awesome personalized signature on the jersey, which is obviously framed.  Anyway, that is my brush with the greatness of Bert Jones, my idol growing up in the 70s!!!

  2. I always ask the question, if he's so great, why would the team he's on trade him? Especially not asking for much in return. The Bears aren't in dire cap hell. They have a new GM and HC who have unbiased eyes on him. The talent is tantalizing no question and he does have a history of being a good solider when he first arrives to a team but his next team will be his fourth team. That has to be at LEAST a yellow flag. Fourth team and traded 3 times. I can see a case being made for yes and no but I'm going to lean towards no.

  3. Well AM the temp in Denver on 1-12-14 is supposed to be 50 so I would say if that stands the weather won't have any baring on Peyton. :) Got my information on My Weather.com if you want to check it out. ;)

The important fact in this post is not the temp of 50 but the date being in January. Against Peyton history says the Colts would have a 50/50 chance.

  4. Amen!

Using the measure of panic and completely unrealistic expectations some folks are expressing here on this Forum....Jimmy Johnson would have been fired from the Cowboys after his 2nd season of NFL coaching. Jimmy Johnson mind you!

He was 1-15 his first season and 7-9 his second season....with full control of the draft process and NO salary cap.

The areas we can improve in are screaming loud enough, with some that can be addressed on the fly and some that have to wait for the off season....after our 2nd straight playoff appearance, by the way.

The problem is that the expectations have changed. Not just in the mind of the fans but on the minds of the front office (see the Richardson trade) and Irsay. Pagano and Grigs refused to use the word rebuild. Their words....not mine.

  5. Honestly I like Trent but I'm alarmed at the fact that our personnel evaluators believe we have the players to make the power running game work. Good coaches adjust to what the personnel can do well. Not continuously "stick to the process" and force a square peg down a round hole.

  6. If I hear "stick to the process" one more time I'm going to puke. The process isn't working bud. You have personnel that CAN'T block what the number one objective of your offensive coordinator is (power running). This is why we're falling behind early and becoming one dimensional for most of the game.

  7. Sure seems to me that he has that deer in the headlights look on the sidelines. I don't think anybody can feel that we go into any game feeling we're going to out coach anybody. Honeymoon is over bud. Fair or not, expectations have changes and YOU were the one that refused to use the word rebuild.

  8. has me really bummed out. I'm typically a "glass half-full" guy but when I think about what we gave up for Davis it really bothers me. Return has certainly not been there yet but hopefully Davis comes around. Hope the coaching staff can harness the talent this guy has to make him a major contributor to our defense. Our 2nd round pick is likely to fall somewhere in the 40th pick range. Lot of good players (with less baggage) will be available there.
