  1. I personally don't mind if we begin to establish a better running attack, if that is indeed on the horizon for this offense.

Obviously we need to improve the O-line personnel to do this.

But there is nothing I love more than when a team has the ability (Especially in another team's house) to cram the ball down the opponents throat with a good running game and it shuts their crowd up.

That may not be exciting, or even light up the highlight reel, but it usually translates into wins.

  2. Seriously. I thought of the teams remaining, Philly would be the likely place, but you can cross that team off the list now, with Chip Kelly headed there.

Oregon must be getting ready for sanctions or something.

  3. Harbaugh: Jim, we just had a three and out after attempting three runs in a row. Mix it up a bit.

    Caldwell: (Blinks)

Harbaugh: Okay, you just got another three and out, but I like that you had a pass play in there. Keep mixing it up.

    Caldwell: (Blinks)

Harbaugh: Hey Jim, we're down two scores now. We need to open up the offense a bit and get back in this game.

    Caldwell: (Blinks)

Harbaugh: We're getting blown out here. Do you have anything in that playbook to get the offense going?

    Caldwell: (Opens mouth... Blinks again)

    Harbaugh: Oh ****.

  4. I like Luck but from what I can see, RG3 is the more accurate passer...

I disagree with this. Luck is constantly making throws while running for his life because our offensive line is fairly bad. You're not going to be very accurate under those circumstances. Hopefully the O-line will be addressed this off-season and once we get that solidified, I believe Luck's accuracy will get a lot better, and subsequently, so will his numbers, which are already pretty good all things considered.

  5. And if RG3 wins the rookie award over Luck by years end let him have it. It's just an award....

And RGIII can polish his award while he's sitting on his couch watching Luck and the Colts in the playoffs.

  6. Yeah, other teams misfortunes can obviously work to the Colts favor, but I'm kinda of the mindset that if the Colts keep taking care of their own business, it doesn't really matter what the other teams do.

Hopefully the Colts veterans are telling their teamates, that are first-year Colts, the same thing.

I admittedly only hoped for the Colts to just be competitive this season, but I never imagined being able to talk about them controlling their own destiny in the playoff race.

  7. Yep, he'll never live up to the daunting 9-10 playoff record. Stop with comparisons people and admit that its OK to see something different.

    This.

All those playoff appearances in row and only one champioship to show for it. It's kinda like the NFL's version of the 1990's Atlanta Braves.

Had a guy at work today say that Luck won't fill Peyton's shoes - in light of yesterday's game. Good. I hope Luck doesn't. I hope he brings his own pair of shoes. And that isn't a knock on Peyton. I truly appreciate all those years he played for Indy, especially in light of those previous "glory" years, such as, when Mike Pagel's go-to guy was Pat Beach, lol.

If Luck is the QB for a team that only makes 5 playoff appearances over the next 10 seasons yet has more than one championship to show for it, then he would already surpass Peyton in my book.

It's only one game. Nothing to fret over.

  8. I hate to say it, but I feel like our Patriots rivalry is all but done for now. We played a surprisingly tight game against them last year, but the rivalry was birthed from several Peyton vs. Brady conference championship battles. Now we're going to be a whole new team.

Gotta agree here. I think the Patriots were our only 'real' rival and that was due in large part to the 'Manning vs Brady' aspect of it and now Manning is gone.

And that brings me back to 2002 when the NFL realigned into the eight divisions and placed Indy in the AFC South. I Remember watching WTHR that day at that owners meeting and Irsay saying the big reason the Colts were placed in the South was so that Manning could go to Tennessee once a year and 'create' some kind rivalry there, obviously because of his college ties to the state. I remember being ticked about the Colts being put in that division because I thought for sure we'd be in the North with Cincy just up the interstate, and with Cleveland and Pittsburgh also being so close. I think there's a lot to be said for geographically close rivals because they outlast specific players, like the teams in the NFC North, which brought me to a question on that day - What happens when Manning is gone, either retired, traded, etc...? Then that 'rivalry's' reason for exisiting in the first place is gone and then you're left with what?

I'm sorry, but I just have never gotten the true 'rival' feeling between Indy and far away cities like Jacksonville and Houston and I don't think things ever really got heated between a somewhat closer Tennessee and Indy.

I always have felt that Indy got the shaft when they were put in the South when they should have been in the North.

I'm not saying that long distance rivalries don't happen. All you have to do is look at some like Washington/Dallas and Oakland/Kansas City for example, but I just don't see this happening yet within our own division.

Who knows, maybe when L.A. gets a team (Either through relocation, or expansion) the NFL will feel the need for another realignment. Maybe then the Colts will get put in a division with cities that are close.
