  1. I think it’s time we start to consider the possibility of trading the 15th overall pick to the commanders for Terry Mclaurin. Stay with me but: 1) why it makes sense for the colts: Michael Pittman has been great for the colts this year, and is a great possession reciever who wins doing the dirty work. He has strong hands and is good over the middle, but he isn’t a true separator. Alec pierce is a promising yet unproven deep threat, and Josh downs has been a great slot addition this year, but struggles to maintain consistency across games. Mclaurin is a true separator and is a true alpha dog on the outside. Adding him into our offense would immediately put us up there with the 49ers and Dolphins in terms of offensive weaponry. They can also afford him realistically. The colts enter this offseason with 78 million in cap space, and have some aging players that they can cut or move on from. Pittman is going to warrant around 20 million a year, which is probably going to be done by the colts. Mclaurin’s base salary next season is 17 million, which is a great value for the type of player that he is. This would allow us to add all pro talent while leaving cap space to add depth to the rest of our team. Another angle of this is Shane Steichen. He was in Philly for 2 years. First year, first year starter at quarterback and had modest weapons, had talent on the ground game but passing game was inconsistent. Going into year two, they trade for an alpha dog in Aj brown and it completely changes the offense. It gives the growing qb a security blanket. It’s hard to imagine that Steichen isn’t thinking about that right now. The idea of all those weapons and all those athletes with a brain like that is amazing. 2) why this makes sense for Terry Mclaurin Terry is an Indianapolis native, who grew up a colts fan. He has been in the embodiment of quarterback purgatory for his entire career. While the commanders organization is looking up, it sure is looking like a full rebuild is about to happen. I doubt he wants to spend his prime waiting on a team to gather draft talent. Mclaurin was linked to the colts the last time he was a free agent as well. 3). Why this makes sense for the Commanders It’s always hard to justify your best player leaving your squad, but I think it’s worth a thought. Terry has a big contract, and they have been unloading players all year. While Mclaurin is an amazing player, the rest of the commanders receivers aren’t too bad either, so it wouldn’t be all their talent walking out the door. You are also in perfect position to take a top pass catcher at the 15th pick, which would allow you to grow a cheaper reciever with a young qb that you will take at #2. While I know this is a far fetched idea, but I think it’s a fun idea and would really increase the ceiling of our team
