  1. That is really solid, w/ trades and those selections, for your 2nd mock. Maybe you should keep this mock till draft and hope it works out that way.

My only critique is the concept that in your mock draft we'd make a trade to acquire 1 more pick in the 2nd, but then we don't use one of our first few picks on a Corner, with a DB Class like this. I bring that point up because we could get a 1st round talent Corner in the 2nd, with one of those 3 picks. But if we drafted the DBs you mocked, then it would be ok cause I like Douglas & Stribling, but it's hard to imagine one of our first 3 picks not being a DB.

I'm left to reading WalterFootball only because they change their mocks every three days for no reason that I can figure.  At least its an update.

I've passed some time drafting on Fanspeak with various boards, being AMAZED at where they have prospects going, then I seek out those websites to see why? or what made them rate their grades.

Some of it looks like it's done without reason. But everybody has an opinion... until they get hit in between the white stripes.

The original Godfather and Patton are two very good movies.  They are from back in the 70s.

Haha, what a coincidence! I'm watching The Godfather on AMC. Because things have slowwwwwed to a crawl on the board, I've not been as active, so I was just catching up on some posts and read your post as I'm watching Don Corleone survive five.

For real, this time before the Draft (after pro days) is like this hazed-filled purgatory where no one knows where they'll go and the information stream just cease, except for mock drafts. Without Draft prospect activities (Senior Bowl, the Combine, Pro Day, visits, etc.), there is only speculation left to entertain the waiting minds and posters have to get creative to fill the time.

What gets me laughing during this purgatory are all the Mock Drafts posted by professionals during this time, cause they seem to get more varied as they collect more information on prospects. So it goes to show that NO ONE knows whats going to happen on that weekend since there are at least 32 opinions that matter and NO ONE person understands them all. -One would have a better chance winning the Powerball & picking a flawless NCAA Bracket vs. predicting the NFL Draft with all it trades and pontification.

  4. Bold Prediction: The Colts draft a player with "character concern(s)".

It could be... T. Williams, J. Lewis, R. Foster, etc. and that would be fine.

JUST NOT M. McDowell (Don't need destructive players in our locker room)

    If we draft...

EDGE T. Williams - Give him a Ty Mathieu Rookie Contract

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/cardinals/2013/05/23/tyrann-mathieu-arizona-cardinals/2356079/

Make it a Zero-Sum Contract where he receives full payment for not failing any drug tests.

CB J. Lewis - Make sure he attends the Rookie Meeting about "certain distractions"

Hopefully his problems were due to his "significant other's" problem, and not his own doing.

ILB R. Foster - Let him be the young, fast, and hard-hitting player he is

So, word is that Foster is a Leader and has no character concern; the Combine incident was an aberration.

I like your thinking. So the plot thickens.

    Tampa Bay offers 19, 84, and 237.

    Atlanta offers 31, 63, and 95.

San Francisco offers 34, 66, and and 109.

You have heard (from a very reliable source) there is no chance of Reddick making it past Washington at 17.

    What do you do?

Great question! I love a tricky predicament... when I can find its solution :td:

What I'd do here is simple: "Sit back and smile." Not being too cocksure here, but I'd grab a cigar. I wouldn't light it yet (haven't won the Super Bowl), but I'd bite down and enjoy the notion that I'm not "STUCK", with my First Pick as a GM. I'm relishing the fact that my guy H. Reddick is available when I'm on the Clock so my situation is Win WIn.

-My definition of Stuck is being on the clock, with the time ticking and the guy you want is not there nor are any decent trade offers. [Another example is BPA doesn't fit you team or scheme, and you have no one to trade with... do you go Minnesota and forfeit the pick haha, NO, but do you reach for need or draft a project with potential???] Tough situation being Stuck.

But HERE, I'm in a Win-WIn cause I have ALL THE LEVERAGE, even with Washington breathing down my neck at #17, cause I'm in total control of what plays out. One option is to take my Guy at #15 and set my sight to our next pick or see if someone is worth trading back into the 1st Round for -OR- I can try and convince Baltimore why they NEED to trade for #15 to get "their next Ed Reed" or whomever, cause someone else is going to make the trade with me.

Point is I'm taking Reddick @16 from a Trade w/ ONLY Baltimore, or I happily select him @15, after I've exhausted all my time on the Clock, like Minnesota has, trying to get said deal done.

    Win: Draft Reddick @ 15

Win: Draft Reddick @ 16 plus additional pick(s)

  6. As a GM, sitting there with my guy on the Board, H. Reddick, I'm ready to turn in my card to have a potential Pro Bowl Defender for years... But I know I've got to make the Best choice for whatever situation is presented.

Having to do my due diligence, and with M. Hooker, both WRs WIlliams and Ross, Njoku, and Watson still available, I'm thinking I can MAXIMIZE my leveraged situation and move back a few picks to still get my guy or take one of two CBs Conley or Wilson later in the 1st, while acquiring more players in this Deep Class!

I go for the Trade! Take the risk because the rewards far outweigh the risk AND I have Sheard & Simon too.

-Best Case: I get an extra pick + Draft H. Reddick

-Worst Case:( Reddick is picked so) I take a Top CB and then get an EDGE/ NT in the 2nd.

  7. Select: TE D. Njoku - From The 'U" and he will help you!

    1) This pick gives A. Luck an athletic, mis-match creating PHENOM in the middle of the field that relieves pressure off of "Mr. Reliable" Doyle to perform, and contribute the best way he knows how, by being there when need. - Beast athlete

    2) expands on the Offense's attack packages (like when Luck had two talented rookie TEs but BETTER) and his ability to beat a defender 1-on-1 consistently would allow for more 1st Downs and coverages to be shaded differently; opening up for T.Y. underneath and over the top! - Creates nightmare for LBs and Safetys.

    3) Having another viable TE option on the pitch means less of a need to go 3 and 4 WR packages, providing more receiver depth in case a Moncrief goes down for an extended amount of time, we'll still roll on Offense. -

Mo Weapons for Luck means Mo problems for the D

    Build the Monster

Overall, a versatile weapon that creates mismatches for the Defense, that's a Beast Athlete that I believe can go Deep better than Dorsett with size & Speed is the best option to BTM and help Luck & Co get Better.

-A RB won't do that yet, until the OLine is set!

    @HolderStephen

I might have mischaracterized Irsay in an earlier tweet. He mentioned RBs repeatedly. But he did throw in "later draft pick" later on.

DANG IT!! I was hoping the "RB early tweet comments" was a SMOKE SCREEN from Irsay to lure in other teams about one of the Top Backs potentially available @ Pick #15 leading to a possible TRADE. It seems that more than 1 of the TOP TIER RBs in this class will be there at #15 and I was hoping that Irsay said the words "early" and "rb" often to illustrate Desire to select one.

-Normally, I don't trust a word NFL teams says before the Draft, their brain trust collects in the "War Room" and they conduct operations to throw off "the enemy" with smoke screens and false bombs of information.

                                                           Image result

    Honest statement:

Instead of saying multiple Super Bowls, Irsay said we need multiple picks to build this team into a club that can compete for that kind of success. So drafting a rb/ single player picked @15, will not get us there yet, but more picks can.

    SO, not a smoke screen!

Image result for smoke screen magician gif Good try.

Image result for smoke screen magician gif Maybe others will still fall for it in the end.

We're not taking a RB in Round 1, this Draft, but we may make a Trade because another team will.

Done more in his career? Rookie of the year. lead the league in rushing a couple of years if I am not mistaken. Pro bowl player and MVP of a pro bowl. He is the leading RB in just about every category for a RB to have for the Colts. It was not his fault that injury shortened his career.

IMO he will be in the HOF, if not he should be.

Edge is a HOFamer, just needs the votes and then it'll be official. I believe it was his 1st two seasons he lead the League rushing. Wish he had more.

    Great All-Time Colt!

  10. At Pick #15

    1. Hasson Reddick - Inside/ EDGE Backer   -    High-motor, scheme versatile Defender

    2. Reuban Foster - Inside Backer                 -    Big thumper, that quarterbacks the Defense and has +Speed

    3. Gareon Conley - Cornerback                    -    Great technique, play man-to-man. May be better > Lattimore

    4. Charles Harris - Edge Backer                    -   BIG, Spin-cycle like a washing machine that gets after the QB.

    5. Quincy Wilson - Cornerback                      -   Big-bodied frame, w/ athleticism & feisty Defender that COVERS

All LBs and CBs, since players have been targeted this offseason at RB, WR, TE, G-C, NT, OLB, and DE but not CB; the need and holes at the position are GLARING. After signing D. Butler, with the caveat of moving him to Safety, I imagine this Pick @ 15 will most likely be a CB, or premier Edge rusher than a CB in round 2 due to the 17' class' being top-heavy with Edge players & has good depth of Corners to be had in the first 3 rounds.

I could also see DL J. Allen being the Selection, IF he falls due to his Arthritic shoulders.

A back up player on the Colts roster for one year at the end of his career IMO is not what this thread had in mind.

You stack his numbers against James and it kinda proves my point.

NO disagreement, about Timmy not getting to play enough/ start with the Baltimore Colts, but he was one of the Best to play in the Game and wear a Colts uniform.

As for BEST Colts career at running back, got to go with ED & theGoggles!!

http://www.profootballhof.com/players/eric-dickerson/highlights/ - See which Team is was Enshrined in the HOF as. Really love Edge, but he could have done more in his career playing with Peyton & Marv in that record-setting offense to be better than ED and he didn't.

  12. #22 Timmy Brown, may have been the BEST!

Like Jim Brown, Thomas Allen Brown had a shortened career that end with his departure in Acting, but while he played he was DOMINANT!!!! and not just a RB, Timmy was a Kick and Punt-Returner.

BETTER THAN Tyreek Hill, Timmy B. was considered the One of the BEST PLAYERS IN ALL OF FOOTBALL! Most of his short career has its success as an Eagle, but he may have been the Best RB/ Offensive Players to Ever wear a Colts uniform.

He modeled his feet after Clyde 'the Glide" Drexler in order to get a leg up on the Defenses he faced.

Because Balance is so important to Throwing the ball, Quarterbacks must have good feet to set a proper throwing platform. GREAT OBSERVATION!!

Another thing here: one of the toughest routes to throw well, and it's a distance throw, even if it's just ten yards downfield. Mess up, and it's six the other way. If a QB can nail this throw consistently, you know he has timing, enough arm strength (maybe not a rocket, but you can't be a noodle arm and throw this route well), good footwork and setup (you have to open your hips, turn your feet, and transfer weight, all while keeping your arm slot tight).... and CONFIDENCE. Again, mess up, and it's a disaster. A QB who frequently puts the ball out of bounds isn't confident in his ability to make this throw, and maybe lacks mental toughness.

Another thing is just the fundamentals of setting up in the pocket, staying light on your feet, and transferring weight back to front when delivering the ball. "I've noticed that a high percentage of inaccurate throws -- especially high or low balls -- are the result of QBs planting their feet rather than staying light and transferring weight." When Cam Newton misses a throw, it's most likely that his feet weren't right.

Yeah I think guys will stop working out at pro-days. If you kill it at the combine then just do interviews at your pro-day. This is ridiculous. This is like the 3rd injury to a some what high profile draft pick this offseason after the combine. Imagine putting out great tape, killing it at the combine, and then getting injured at a non-mandatory work out right before you're supposed to get drafted.

Hope some of them won't in the future. Agree.

For real, the "Pro day" is a wash for the majority of top-rated players who've attended the Combine and completely useless or a formality for others. It's "purpose", like the combine, is to have college prospects meet with NFL organizations, interview with them, and display their tangible traits on the field. But nothing good comes from the Pro Day, just like the wonderlic test!

["Wonderlic" sounds like this Mystical Lolipop Willy Wonka invented that turns your tongue different colors and renders you to ruminate the finer details of life with each lick, dumb. The only thing more asinine is this crazy test. IT SAYS NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL INTELLIGENCE yet it gets used as an evaluation tool, but many NFL officiais know the test SAYS NOTHING about a potential career.]

    Understatement of the year

PEYTON "P-Money" MANNING had one of the worst pro day's and I think his football career didn't suffer too much despite it. Speaking of money & the Bottom Line, one of the biggest rewards of a pro-day, like John Ross at combine, is that a prospect can greatly IMPROVE their draft stock = money, by blazing their 40-time (separating themselves from their classmates) or "answering a question", i.e. does "Luck have enough Arm Strength?" then he throws a ball +60 yards in the air going against the wind. -Pssh, such a waste of time for some top guys. What does M. Garrett have to prove/gain from his pro day???

Honestly the pro-day means the most to: players who aren't on a team's radar, did not receive an invite to the combine, or need to display some trait that will get them noticed, drafted, or signed later as an UDFA. That's it! Anything else is superfluous and too much of a formality for me. I think people are starting to realize there are glaring flaws in the Scouting Process, *ESPECIALLY* with Quarterback evaluations. What gets me tripped up is that people think a "40-time" equates = a good football player. ^Check^, Jerry Rice, Larry Fitzgerald 40 times. The overall idea is that a combine, 40 time, and pro day are great to get exposure & higher draft stock = more money$ but this Process is just a game that scouts, agents, and players play to figure out "stock" for a prospect in the draft. But honestly a CB that can COVER receivers and has enough  functional speed -"Polian quote" a la D. King should be drafted higher than a CB who runs 4.3 yet has horrendous technique. What people are missing is that DBs usually don't get burned due to lack of speed; it's lack of technique. Fast corners get burned, see Jason David, and those with proper technique tend to cover receivers. My point is that unless you're making hay and raising your draft stock, = money, sit out and let your tape speak for yourself. I like John Ross' 40 time, but for WRs this year, I think Fred Ross has the best hands in the class and I'd rather have a receiver with Hands than with record-breaking speed.

'When it's 4th and 3, give me the receiver who makes a 1st Down!'

  16. GRASS TIME!!!                           I'm Signing with the Colts

Players know, it's all about Playing Time not Paying Time. If you don't see a blade of grass what's the point of calling yourself a player?!? Even the Practice Squad players get a Super Bowl ring when their team wins, but I'm sure it doesn't feel the same to them as it feels to their teammates with PT, who got to contribute! (same could be said for Bench players) I don't get Paid to WATCH the Game.

-Indy is offering me an opportunity to not only Play, but START right away! Doing my HW, I see that the new Colts FO is beginning an endeavor of bringing in players to compete, not only that but they have an open starting position at Middle Linebacker where I play, so I will sign! Build The Monster with Me and my Speed.

Coach Pagano & CB are looking to get "Younger, Faster" and that starts with me, Starting at MLB.

    Also...

(Money is not the incentive until I've established my Earned Spot on a Team; since Rookie contracts are no longer JACKED, I've got to earn that BIG 2nd Contract and the only way to earn it... Exceptional play time)

Reasons to not sign with other teams:

-Seattle is just stacked on Defense and have re-signed players on that side of the ball to large contracts, including MLB, so I pass on an opportunity to WATCH a good team from the bench/practice squad.

-Cleveland has got organizational problems throughout their ownership, front office, and it CLEARLY reflects itself on the field and with their record. The Colts, 2012, turned two wins, a season earlier, to eleven a year later because Andrew Luck took helm of the Team. & Cleveland doesn't have LUCK (not the good kind).

-San Francisco is another "rebuilding" organization without a franchise QB nor experienced FO. Looking like a franchise without a direction causes me to Direct my eyes elsewhere. Too many holes & none at MLB.

-New York is crazy if they think I'm changing positions, without quality experience nor a desire to play safety. They have a young pro bowler at one safety position, good, but I don't want to tandem with him as my teacher, I'd rather start my Career going full speed and playing with enough know how to compete on the highest level of the Sport. If I go out there and look "lost" like a FOX show that gets cancelled after 1 season THEN I'd wouldn't receive another shot in The League, ever. Good thing: it was on ABC & I only play LB.

I remember that game, he was awesome.  Played well in the Senior Bowl too.  He looks faster than his 40 time.

These guys from non power 5 conferences are tricky to predict.  Was he so good because of the poorer competition?  Are he and Marlon Mack the same type?

    Not so much really.

Nitpicking, I feel Hunt differs from Mack in that Hunt runs predominantly north-south while Mack BOUNCES (out) on so many runs I'd think he was going to the NBA. Both are gifted with their ability to SEPARATE from defenders; Hunt strings moves together and exploits angles to break away & Mack ATTACKS space so quickly and jukes defenders into taking poor tackling angles or he gashes into space and makes hard cuts to separate, plus he uses a stiff arm. Another difference is that Hunt does not shy away from contact & runs low + behind his pads.

"Homer-Back" Mack is dang good, but feels like a HS running back that runs hard like a Darren McFadden. I think he'd produce a lot of good production in a Zone scheme, where he chooses his gap and goes!!  I'm sure the Spread system Mack played in allowed him to navigate through gaping holes in the Defense, while he had a stellar line that didn't get him hit in the backfield, but the competition level seems so inferior to USF's Offense it almost looked like defenders rarely set the edge against him. With Hunt's Toledo Offense I did not get that sense of competitive disparity, but your inquiry causes me to wonder how Mack will fare against NFL Defenses. Thanks! GOOD STUFF!

  18. NOT FLOYD!!

Honestly, A-N-Y-O-N-E but Floyd. While living in AZ, I followed the Cards and knew something was up these past two season with him. Last season & the one before, he had focus issues and was said by the Coach Arians to be, "Trying too hard & just needs to let the game come to him".

Coming out of Notre Dame he had the DUI, a concern. THEN he had his DUI last season but THAT WASN'T WHY HE WAS CUT. The story goes... Floyd spoke with the AZ Front Office and showed a complete lack of care about the DUI and THEN he was cut. Later, there were reports about a drinking problem. So consider him to be more of a Johnny Manziel than a future Colt.

Hunt's running style reminded me a bit of EDGE.

    AGREE!

When I first watched Film of Hunt it was reminiscent of the Edge. Some things pop out that remind me of how Edge gains yards and is an effective runner. Hunt has "Got the MOVES like Edgerrin"

Three facets of his game are Edge-like in the respect of gaining yardage

    1) "Forward Lean" - Hunt finishes runs going forward with Edge-like agility. On the vast majority of his runs, Hunt lands going forward and gains an additional yard or more by doing so. THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE between the two in this respect is that James would end runs with a slight dive forward and eek out 3 more yards. (Adding 1-3 yards at the end of each run makes a BIG difference towards manageable 3rd downs & overall at the end of a game with +30 touches)

    2) Crafty Runs - Hunt has enough patience, very good feet, & elusive movements to avoid would-be tacklers and create something from not much. Hunt moves like Jagger; as you don't comprehend how he can string together these awesome moves though his combine results "displayed" a lesser-athlete than he is (eyeroll). Truth is he's a Smart runner who makes defenders miss and creates lots of yards making PROFESSIONAL runs. Neither runner is a speedster nor a scat back that "out-athletes" defenders, rather, they maximize each run and use their vision & feet to beat you inside or out. Oh, and won't go down with initial contact!

    3) Plays on all 3 Downs - Both RBs can impact a Team in both phases of the Offense, the biggest difference is that Edge can block and Hunt needs work, like most College backs heading to the Pros.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkTERQTq0qg#t=183.397667 - This was a great culmination of his career at Toledo, playing in a conference championship game vs. a good team. Hopefully it's a wonderful audition tape, displaying all 3 of these traits, that leads to his start as a Colt. One can Dream.

I don't think you'll get Reddick if you trade down. He's that good of a prospect. I wouldn't call him a fast riser. His stock as steadily grown since the Senior Bowl where he showcased not only his athleticism, but also his ability to play ILB on the fly and do well at the position. He was always thought of as a solid prospect, but until the Senior Bowl, he was thought of as an edge guy and his size/strength kept him out of the top edge rusher discussion. The Senior Bowl showed us he can play the position we all though he should move to in the NFL and the combine confirmed everything we saw on tape. The dude is an athletic freak, but also has a very high football IQ, versatility, and play ability. There's a chance I may want Reddick over Foster if they're both there and for that, I may be crazy... I just love his work ethic and lunch-pail mentality as a walk-on that converted from DB to DE.

Looks like we're both crazy together. <3

I'll join this  "crazy" Train, at the caboose, or anywhere really. I don't care where on the train just like I don't care where We'd Draft Reddick. My concern with Foster was about something I read with his having multiple concussions in College, coupled with his playing style and my concerns grow further. I'd be happy to have him selected to Indy, but I think Reddick exemplifies what it means to be a Blue-collar, Indiana, Indianapolis Colt!

Foster feels like "The Monster" in Our building the Monster mantra, but Reddick brings versatility that I imagine will make this Team BETTER, make his teammates BETTER and thus BTM in terms of being a more efficient Force to deal with, whether it's a running or passing down.

EDGE is so Important for Us this offseason, I believe that Foster is a SPECIAL Interior Linebacker that might be generational, but Reddick is a SPECIAL competitor that brings excellent versatility inside and out for a Defense. With Reddick We can add an Inside Backer Duke Riley, later in the Draft, and getting "younger, faster" and BETTER in both phases! After round 2, the drop off of Edge players is enough to reconsider Foster, if he's even there at #15. Now the Hope is that Reddick will still be available for Us at #15

  22. With this Draft Class's immense depth and potential impact starters from Day 1, I'm not as concerned with who is selected at #15; I'm in support of taking Reddick or Foster, a CB or EDGE or NT being the first two picks, I feel the top of Our Draft will have depth at positions of need and trust that CB will draft players of special qualities there.

It's the bottom of Our picks that have me more concerned, in terms of having a quality Draft. The one player this year that I believe with a "special trait" that separates themselves from their position group is George Kittle, TE of Iowa. He's the best blocker in the class and should be available LATE! (I usually don't care about Draft Value, so much, but when you can select quality players late in the draft, then the potential of drafting a very good class overall INCREASES, as does the prospect of creating a better team) "Build The Monster"

For many reasons, that I previously posted on the forum, Kittle would be an instant impact player blocking in-line on Our OLine and can contribute size, athleticism, and speed to our receiving corps in the middle of the field. If I can affect the outcome of the Draft this year, I'd make sure We add Kittle from Iowa, with one of Our 4th Round picks.

  23. That "trade" is unbelievably imbalanced and potentially Franchise-changing! Hell yeah, I make that trade now, especially with CB at the helm (known as an Excellent player evaluator).

Due to recent changes in players' stock, after the Indy combine, there are prospects that could "fall" to the 2nd round that are 1st Round talent. That idea alone could be enough to take this deal, but the HEAVY concentration of Top-tier talent on Offense & Defense in this class is a wonderful motivator for a GM to accept this deal. Let's be real here and call it like it is; this is not a trade... it's a STEAL.

Since one of the EDGE players, like Harris or Willis, could be available at 33, or in the later 2nd Round then I'd take this "Steal of a Deal" to select an EDGE and then draft a Corner and a DL, like Adams in the 2nd or go BPA. OF COURSE this is a "Madden" trade but these kinds of Drafts change Franchises, like the ones that Seattle had from 2010-2012 with their excellent draft picks after the 1st Round. With 3-2nd picks this year, a Team can add 3 key starters/ contributors and improve any side of the ball, especially the Defense! This "trade" sounds insane but really it's Video Game.
