Got to admit the scouting report from 2016, is exactly what we are seeing this season.  We have a good defense, great oline, decent receivers, although currently depleted by injuries, suspect special teams, but soon to improve dramatically.  My fear is we spend another season evaluating JB, or draft a wonder boy who doesn't work out, and waste another season with the team we already have.

My hope is we sign a PROVEN, NFL QB, which it seems several will be available in the offseason, and take a shot at the ring.  This fanbase needs it.

Any idea who we would sign? I would like a better QB than JB but who do you think would fill that?

He actually did pretty well vs Seattle, and had a really good game vs GB. He's been very capable at times, more than I thought to be honest. IMO he has improved over the season coming back from injury, so that's a positive.

Well that’s good for them. I never thought much of him but I really don’t watch the 49ers so take my opinion with a grain of salt

I'm thinking about pulling together a go fund me to take out a full page want ad in the Indianapolis Star (in the off-season) asking Andrew to unretire and give us 5 more years...bad idea?  Who's with me? Could be fun, make up for some boo's!!!

May be best to leave the caveman alone, I hear they’re dangerous when disturbed

I agree 100% on SF needing the 1 seed. Running and D does travel though, so I guess nothing would surprise me. Biggest question is simply can their QB win a big game if their D and running game can't do it on the road.

I think both the NFC and AFC race will be interesting.

I would say the answer to that is no. I don’t watch Jimmy G a whole lot, but from what I’ve seen he’s not a “carry the team” type of guy. I don’t think he’s bad, but he’s not gonna be tossing out any Aaron Rodgers Hail Marys

...... but seriously, i'm glad we locked up Doyle for a few more years, he's a serviceable player. (wait, that sounds like he's in jail)

Damn, Bleacher Report found out Jack Doyle’s secret: that he’s already washed up.

Looks like old CB has been tricked again!

Why not watch other games?  It is more enjoyable than watching Brissett running the Colts.  I have been watching the games featuring the top teams and it is far more enjoyable then the Brissett/Colts games.

Other than my two teams, I couldn’t give a rats * about the NFL. If the Colts and Bengals didn’t play in the NFL I wouldn’t watch it. I’m sure this is just my perspective, but I get no enjoyment out of watching other teams do well. It does nothing for me. If my teams aren’t winning, then I don’t care. I barely even watch the SB at this point

Sorry if that seems mean, just trying to explain my own thought process

I respect watching the other games for the fun of it and I hope you enjoy it, it’s just not for me

Yeah, the hooded evil genius just needs to retire and go away lol. It's just unfair to the rest of the league.

Shan gets it now, but I think they'll have a little late fall from grace and end up a 5 in the NFC. The way the schedule plays out, I can see Seattle taking their division.

Normally I’d be enraptured by the NFC playoff race, but this year I can’t seem to care. Sports have become such a drain on my life that I’m becoming apathetic, and I have a lot of others things that are way more important. I guess I’ll say that whoever wins that division is my pick to make the SB. 49ers really need the one seed, they need to stay warm and cozy in SF, a trip to Seattle, Minnesota, or Green Bay in December would kill them

On second thought I guess Minnesota doesn’t matter since they have a roof now. You get my point though

How do you figure? I guarantee M. Ryan will be in the HOF and it wouldn’t be a stretch for Stafford.

Easy. Unless you’re Phillip Rivers, you need to win a SB to get into the Hall. That’s just the name of the game. Also, as good as Ryan and Stafford have been, there are always lots of guys who deserve it more. Maybe someday they’ll get in, but not soon.

Whether we think Stafford or Ryan will be HOF isn’t really relevant anyways

    Bobby Okereke

    352 total snaps

30 solo tackles 13 assist total of 43 tackles

2 Tackle for Loss 1 sack 2 forced fumbles 1 fumble recoveries

    2 Pass deflections 0 int

    Devin Bush

    697 snaps

54 solo 32 assists total of 86 tackles

6 tackle for loss 1 sack 1 forced fumbles 4 fumble recoveries

    4 Pass Reflections 2 ints

Ballard ended up getting yet another steal in the 3rd round. Okereke has been playing really well of late and it's showing. Bush is this year's top LB by the media and Okereke just has about the same stats wise because Okereke has played half the total snaps as Bush. I hope come next year Okerek gets the starting Mike. I like Walker dont get me wrong but Okereke is looking really good.

No offense, but this is slightly wrong. Okereke had an INT in the KC game, but a herd of zebras stole it from him.

Also Okereke being so good is great for us because it allows us to rotate Leonard, Okereke and Walker in and out and have two solid/great LBs in at all times.

AV was bad in the Tenn game. IMO one of the blocks was a poor kick the first one. AV has not been good this year and when he does go out to kick even an extra point I don't have any confidence in him! Did he lose the Tenn game for the Colts, no but certainly if he had made just one of those kicks it would have helped. I do think he AV lost the Colts 3 games this year, the SD, Pitt, and Mia were games the Colts could of won, and his play hurt the chances in all.

Vinny lost us the SD and Pitt games, but the Miami loss belongs squarely on the shoulders of one Brian Hoyer and Frank Reich for not even trying Chad Kelley.

The Raiders will have 2 first round picks, (Mack trade with Chicago) and I am hearing rumblings that they may move on from Derek Carr. They really like Carr, but are not in love with Carr and if there's a QB that they like better in the draft....

I think D. Carr would be a good option, if he becomes available.

Personally I think Carr is way too Jekyl and Hyde, but I don't extensively watch the Raiders. It just seems to me like sometimes he plays well and other times he plays poorly, like JB. I do think he would work well in our locker room though, seems like a good guy and a good leader.

Does anybody think that either the Falcons or Lions are getting tired enough of their QBs that simply one second round pick would do it, including us taking on their contract?

How would Ryan or Stafford perform with our oline and running game?

I'd trade our Skins second for Ryan or Stafford. Neither are future HOF, but they are absolutely good enough to win Super Bowls with a better WR corp from us and our OL, D, and RBs. I'd prefer Stafford because he has a stronger arm and is less injury prone, but I'd take Ryan too.

Im in that boat with you draft a mid round sleeper QB to develop with kelly. And trade for a QB capable of playing elite behind our line. Foles, Stafford, Rivers. Someone to transition to the next.

Foles is done. Rivers is not leaving the Chargers unless he retires (he has nine kids and commutes from San Diego every day, he's not packing up and coming here). The Lions would be stupid to get rid of Stafford but if they did I would love to have him. I am convinced he would solve our troubles at QB very easily. He's a veteran, he's smart, he has possibly the strongest arm in the league, and he's tough as nails injury-wise. With a better WR corp Stafford could win us a lot of games.

We would have to trade for Stafford though and I would expect the Lions to want at least a second for him. If we were to finish worse than the Lions, it would be awesome if we could give them the Skins second and move back to their spot in the first in exchange for Stafford; but that isn't going to happen.

So I wanted to lay this out for the forum in regards to drafting a QB and moving forward from Brissett. I think we can all agree that Brissett is not elite but he could be a very good starter in the NFL. I know we argue that trying to find the next franchise QB is very difficult so should we not try. I am a known Brissett fan but that aside, look at some the teams trying to find their next great quarterback and how long it can take to even find one that could go to the playoffs.

Below is the team and their last great quarterback (in parentheses next to the last great QB is the year they retired. The next number is the year the next somewhat okay QB was drafted or acquired)

    49ers- Young (99)- Garcia (99)- Garapollo(17)

Broncos- Elway (98)- Manning(12)- still looking

    Redskins-Theismann (85)- RG3(12)- still looking

    Bears-McMahon (88)- Grossman(03)- Trubisky(17)

    Browns-Kosar (93)- Mayfield(18)

    Steelers-Bradshaw (83)- O’Donnell(90)- Roethlisberger(04)

    Cowboys-Aikmen (00)- Romo (03)- Prescott(16)

    Giants-Simms (93)- Manning(04)- Jones(19)

    Buffalo-Kelly (96)- Bledsoe(02)- Allen(18)

    Miami-Marino (99)- Tannehill(12)- still looking

    Tennessee-McNair (05)- Young (06)- Mariota(15)- still looking

Also just look at the list of QB drafted that were bust recently

Ponder, Locker,Manuel, Russell, Losman, Couch, Manziel, Quinn, Boller, Leftwich, Leinart, Beck, Frye, Harrington, Kizer, Rosen, Mariota, Winston, Lynch

This is all to saw, we as Colts fan were blessed to go from Manning to Luck but that very rarely happens. We might want to consider we have a good QB and could have a great team around him. We are currently 19th in offense (with a huge lack of player makers on offense) and 13th in defense. If we aren’t careful, we could end up in the QB wasteland.

    Just saying.

We're actually fortunate that we have JB under a decently cheap deal. We could draft a Jordan Love and if he turns out to be the next Kizer, we have a mediocre backup plan to keep us afloat. Although if Ballard doesn't hit on a good QB this year, I wouldn't be against trying again in 2021 since that draft is supposed to be even more QB heavy.

Yeah, most mocks I've seen have Herbert going around 8-10, so if that holds we would have to trade up but Love or Eason should fall to us. It's gonna be interesting to see it play out, see if Ballard gets spooked and trades up, or has the nuts to wait and see if they fall...or even ballsier to wait and see if someone falls to the Redskins 2nd.

Hell, he may not go QB in the 1st, if they don't I'm really hoping they get a guy like Lamb, Higgins, or Shenault, a big bodied X receiver to compliment the speed of TY and Campbell.

I don't pay attention to the Redskins, so maybe Haskins is the worst QB of all time, but I think they'll at least give him another year to develop. I completely expect Bengals to take Burrow at one, Redskins take Young at two, and then Dolphins take either Tua or maybe Herbert at three. Dolphins can easily trade up for the guy they want if they aren't number three, considering the bumblebees and cows gave them two more first rounders this year. I don't see the Jets wanting a QB, but the Bears will be chomping at the bit. We're lucky that most crap teams this year are seemingly ok with their QB situations

CoY is always a wildcard. Part popularity, part luck, part XX...

I'd probably go with Shanahan at this point, but I could make a case for several.

BB is Coach of All Time... They should just give him that trophy and disqualify him from the yearlies.

Lol agree, as much as I can't stand the hoodie, he's the greatest football coach of all time, no question. I could definitely see Shanahan for CoY if the 49ers continue to make noise and make the NFCCG

ballard traded for jb, kept walker around a long time, signed kelly, i hope he can do better picking our next qb

To Ballard’s credit, the JB trade was very good. We got one of the best backup QBs in the league, and the deflators got Dorsett. Say what you will about JB now, but he was a good backup and has still gotten us six wins. He’s definitely worth the price of Dorsett.

Also, on the Walker point, he looked very good the last two preseasons but was just bad this preseason. Really wasn't much harm in keeping him around for a couple of years.

Belichick actually had little to do with Tom getting drafted.

Outside of Burrow and Tua if he makes a full recovery, I just see a bunch of project guys. I wouldn't mind landing Herbert, Love, or Eason if they can do it without selling the farm, preferably in the 2and round.

I’d use our first on any of those three, but I wouldn’t want to trade up for Eason or Love at all really.
