  1. If Peyton is healthy and not with this team next year, I will have to turn in my fan card. If it's between Peyton 2 more years OR drafting his replacement, I take Peyton for 2 good years every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Him not playing this year made me realize, even though I did appreciate him, I didn't appreciate him enough.

well put! i gotta say i feel the same way bro.
  2. What Polian actually said a couple of weeks back was:

"I guess it’s from people in the media more than fans, the bottom line is if the right person is there, and it has to be the right person, now is the time to consider that. Peyton and I have spoken about that, and he’s fine with it."

But he didn't say when that conversation took place.

Today the media rephrased that to Peyton under the assumption that he was specifically talking about a recent conversation related to his injury and Andrew Luck. Peyton in denying it sounded like he was more concerned with deflecting stories that make it sound like he is running the entire organization than with having a public dispute with Polian. He then said:

“Maybe a couple years ago, he would say, ‘Eventually we’re going to draft your replacement.’”

I would put this together and assume that Polian was referring to the acknowledged previous conversations in that Peyton has understood for at least the two prior drafts that the Colts will draft a "replacement" if they spot "the right person". This is nothing new. Yes, it's perhaps a little disingenuous to allow people to conclude that he sat down recently with Peyton and said "would you mind terribly if we drafted this Luck fellow, please", but he didn't lie, he's just letting people hear what they want to hear. The fact is that it isn't any of Peyton's business who or when the Colts draft anybody. The suggestions to the contrary seemed to make Peyton very uncomfortable - he's just a player. Polian is just letting those of us who have Peyton on a pedestal feel a little better. He could just as easily have said something completely different and dismissed Peyton's concerns from the equation, which would have fed into the "Polian is an egomaniac" theme much better, but perhaps angered those who think that Peyton should be consulted. In other words, he's doing his job. He patted his superstar on the back while deflecting a substantive answer to the future where it belongs. Not a big deal.

agreed! thats what i got out of it after watching it for myself. kravitz made it sound completely different on his twitter. but definitely after i watched it, i took it that peyton was just making the point that his opinion isnt obtained in deciding who the colts draft....and never has. again, i just think its a case where bob is trying to make bill polian look as bad as he can, because of his disliking of him. thats my take on it anyway.
  3. Well, age catches up to everyone eventually. Manning is no different. As to playing till he's 40, has he actually said anything about that or are you just trying to read the tea leaves? (Which I admit is all I'm doing)

Agree 100% with you on just being happy seeing him play next year.

i believe in the past age has caught up to alot of famous quarterbacks...montana, marino, elway, etc. but there has been huge advancements in knowledge of the body, medicines, and fitness since those guys played. besides that, i dont think the nfl has ever known a qb as driven as manning. i believe peyton could play at a high level longer than we have been accustomed to seeing quarterbacks play in the past. of course, this is only if his injury totally heals and he becomes healthy. but if it does (imo) i think his motivation and drive will keep him playing as long as HE wants to play. (atleast into his early 40's)
  4. great video, thanks for posting bayone! man, with all the rumors out there, its hard to know what to believe anymore. i read once where some kids from a school were asking peyton questions. one kid asked peyton....if you had to play for another team besides the colts, what team would it be? he answered.... that if he couldnt play for the colts, he would probably retire! i thought that was cool that he said that. i just hope with all the luck publicity and all the negative crap being said about him staying in indy, that he still feels like that! i can only imagine what all of the stuff he has heard has made him think. one day he is the biggest thing this city has ever known...the next , there are people dying to dump or trade him to make room for a some rookie. im sure that has to hurt a little. all i want to see is #18 back out there in a colts uniform for as long as he can physically play football!!

  5. All of these Colts are going to trade Peyton speculations are nonsence. There's no way in H.E.L.L. the Irsay is going to trade Peyton for a unproven player thats never even took a snap in the NFL! Peyton at 50% is better then Luck at 100%.. So if the front office be dumb and trade the GREATEST QB to ever play the game, they will really know the meaning of #SuckForLuck

    hahahaha!!! Perfect post. I agree!
  6. It would only be as such if, after evaluating Manning, he plays line he's 36. He certainly played younger than 35 WITH the pain. That pain will now be gone.

It's cute to repeat what the radio mouth-breathers are spouting, but that doesn't make it a relevant argument. Dan Patrick and Colin Cowherd said the same thing, word for word, because that's their job. They stir the pot to create conversation.

The fact is, this surgery alleviated exactly what was holding him back. The facts show that he was playing better than any 35 year old player in NFL history, despite the discomfort. The facts show that nearly every athlete makes a full recovery from this procedure, DB's excepting, for whatever reason.

Think for yourself, for a change. Drafting Luck would be LESS logical than stacking in defense and picks. This is a "win now" league. Not a "maybe in five years we will have the Rodgers scenario" league.

i think you are exactly right! i traveled to a few away games last season. i stayed in a hotel once with some "family" members of a couple of players. now although they were not employees of the colts organization, they said they had heard that he had been really having problems with numbness and pain all last season. they believed (atleast i think they were told) that it may have had an effect on (not all) but SOME of the interceptions peyton threw last year. this surgery, if successful, should significally alleviate those symptoms and bring him back to his preinjury form. i really dont think his age is going to have as much of a factor as some of you are saying. its like dallas clark said... peyton doesnt rely so much on arm strength, he just knows how to lead his receivers perfectly. i think its possible he could come back and play for 4 or 5 years(if healthy) at an extemely high level! i also think that because he has had to sit out this year, you will see a "man on a mission" next season. could be really exciting! he is just that type of guy. i wouldnt underestimate what he will still be capable of doing. but...hopefully the rest of the league will!!!
  7. Well this trade thing has been discussed before and it's something in his contract about not being able to be traded and if the Colts would want to part ways with Peyton they would have to release him and he could become a FA. I for one don't see Irsay doing anything unless Peyton isn't 100% and then I think it would be taken out of the organization's hands and Peyton would retire if he can't play at 100%. That's just my opinion for what it's worth. Who's to say that Peyton may also restructure his contract because he has also done that previously. Only time will tell what is going to happen.

i totally agree. if manning is healthy...he is a colt! if he is not healthy, i think he retires! But i 100% believe he will wear the horseshoe on his helmet until he is ready to retire (and thats the way it should be) imo.
  8. The answer is so obvious I'm afraid to answer thinking this must be a trick question.....but.....Tebow?

LOL im thinkin u r correct sir! Its hard not to root for a guy like T-Bow. I hope he makes it in the nfl. I think he will.
  9. Let's get a couple of things straight. First off, Kravitz is not 'my boy'. Don't know where you get that idea. Second, I did not say I was a fan of Bob Kravitz. I'm just not going to bash the columnist, because he might write something I might not like. It's very obvious because he isn't writing what you want to see that you don't like him. Like I said before and you seem to not understand is that just because he might write something controversial doesn't make him a negative write or a "cancer" to Indianapolis. Bob doesn't write the best articles, the articles that make everyone happy, but he does give out decent articles every now and then. If he only wrote the happy crud in every article he'd be the most boring thing in this city. He is able to write what people might not want to hear, but need to hear. Is it going to draw criticism? Of course it will. Everyone on this forum probably has a few articles from him they don't like, but he brings a side we should look at if we want to try and get the whole picture. To call him a cancer, just because you don't like him is overall silly. You don't have to like the man at all, but he does give a perspective you might not ever notice if he doesn't present it in his articles. Whether you choose to continue viewing his articles is on you, but bashing him and calling him a "cancer" because you don't agree with his views is just sad.

Ahhh, im an ignorant fool! right on bro. If you think i wrote this post based on that i dont "agree" with his articles, then you have missed the entire point of what i have been saying. Im kinda tired of trying to explain what i meant. i guess if you didnt get it when you first read what i wrote, then you're not going to get it. some did, some didnt. thats why we have this forum though. To agree on or debate our opinions.
  10. That definitely means something from someone who calls a person a cancer to a city haha. Great judge of what class is by far. Bob definitely isn't the best writer out there and yes he does put up controversial material, but the controversial things he puts up is what some people need to see. Sometimes you have to see the other side to get the full picture.

Sorry if you dont like how i describe your boy. I can see your a fan of Bobs so its cool man. To me a cancer is a person that stirs up unnecessary negativity amongst people. I think Bob does that. If they makes me classless for saying that than so be it.
  11. No problem...we're good...everything is Colt-a-thestic. :D Just that when you say "take away the picks" it sounded kind of homerish in defense of Peyton. Likewise I respect your right to your opinion on that game and Kravitz in general. But not everyone is going to be all up in arms over the article he wrote.

Anyway on a different note, it must have been cool to be at that particular game and to observe two masters at work regardless of the final outcome. I am sure you will carry that experience with you for a lifetime.

thanks man, and yes that was a great game to be at. Of course if we had won it would have been mucho better! It wasnt so much the last article Bob wrote that made me decide to write the post. It is just most of his articles in general. i am all about having a guy in indy that "gets the good story." But a good sportswriter could do the same stories but in a classier and more tasteful way. Bob is like a day outta school.................No class! :)
  12. But you can't just say take away the picks though. You gotta take the good and the bad plays and assess the overall performance. Also you can't cavalierly dismis Brady as "he completed passes and had a great running game". No...he ate up the Colts defense for 3 quarters while Peyton struggled and forced Manning to have to play catch up against a Pats defense playing prevent style coverage. Which he almost did again but for the game ending pick. We all love Peyton but try to be a bit more objective. Peyton wasn't dominating that whole game. He turned it on in the 4th quarter but the defense the Pats were in played a hand in that too. The game ended on a Manning pick...great defensive play perhaps but an interception just the same...it is what it is.

As far as Kravitz, meh...he is a columnist...paid to stir up controversy and generate website hits. You probably helped him achieve the later by reading his column.

Be more objective? I already stated that i was at the game and my analysis was that i thought peyton looked more aggressive and much more exciting than tom looked. I didnt say tom looked bad, i said i know who i would want on my team if i had to pick between the two. That wasnt from a fans perspective that was from my perspective. Your right, it is what it is...and thats how i saw it from the stands at gillette stadium. But i respect your opinion too man. AND the reason I wrote this post was to stir up a little controversy on krappitz. i can tell it ruffled some feathers so it must of worked :)
  13. So Kravitz has done "more harm than good for Indianapolis" because Pats fans gave you a hard time after one of his articles. Forgive me if I find that just a touch hysterical. Maybe he has done more harm than good for you but to throw the city or team in there is just about the funniest thing I had read on here in a long time.

Glad you thought it was funny. i didnt write the post to disect every article written by bob and how i think alot of times he is unnecessarily negative towards people. i was stating my thoughts on him as a writer. i personally am not a big fan of people who are like that.
  14. Still waiting to hear from you on the great harm he has brought Indianapolis.

im still waiting for you to show me where in my post did i say he had brought great harm! i said i think he has done more bad than good for indianapolis. when i was sitting in the stands in new england, getting heckled by their fans about an article that a hometown writer wrote.... that wasnt good for me.... but it was GREAT for the patriot fans! You would think that the day we were gonna play New England, that he might be writing an article about how good peyton is. Not that brady is superior to him. From a national writer...i could totally see it. But from an indy guy?? Cmon. wrong time to write that article. like i said... i think he thrives on being negative.
  15. This is what I do not get about people who get upset about Kravitz's article. He is not a reporter. The guy is a columnists so most of what he writes is just his opinion.

Obviously you do not like Kravitz so why continue to read his article?

Look trading Manning is a real option and it is something I am sure the Polians will look at. I do not see what the big deal is about Kravitz saying that is what he thinks we should do.

Look dude, i was just stating MY opinion on kravitz as a negative sports writer. If you dont like what i have to say ,then dont read MY posts and move on!
  16. Re the Pats game last year. Was the best QB the one that threw the game losing INT, or am I thinking of another game?

If i remember right his arm was bumped as he threw that last pick. Besides that, it was a team loss. i was just stating my opinion on what i saw that night. The comeback that he led us on was amazing. Tom did a good job. they had a great running game and he completed passes. but like i said...take away the picks and peyton made some unreal throws and plays! He was exciting to watch. Brady just looked ok, nothin fancy. To you the winner may be the best. But i was sittin in the 10th row and i know who i would rather have on my team. Again we both have our opinions and thats cool bro.

  17. Ok, so i open up todays paper and see an article by Bob that reads....Best options don't include Manning! well already i dont like the article before i even read it, but i read anyway. Let me say that i have followed Bob and his articles for many years. I have read some really good ones. He has made me laugh numerous times with his use of funny words. You can also tell he is pretty knowledgeable about sports. But to me, the bad he has done for indianapolis has outweighed the good. Todays article states how there is almost no way peyton and luck can exist on the same team....And i agree thats a possibility. But, its also possible that they can. I just get the feeling that Bob ALWAYS wants to be negative. I would bet while talking to Oliver Luck ,Bob was probably saying "you dont want your son to come to Indy , do ya...And have to sit behind Manning for years?" You can tell by his articles that he doesnt WANT good things to happen or workout! His article last week about the polians to me was a retaliation article or something. He didnt list any names of anyone that told him his info. Just that the Polians have ran all the good people out of town. It sounded to me like an article written about someone that he has disliking towards, rather than a factual article. Again, an article full of negativity. I remember going to New England last year for the pats/ colts game. Bob that day had written an article about how much better Brady was than Manning. I didnt agree with the article but whatever. That night in the stands, i had some patriots fans taunting me. The taunt that made me the maddest???.... "Even your Indianapolis sports writer says Brady kills Manning!" That didnt set well with me. I will never forget that. I thought brady looked pretty good that night. Nothing special. Just played it safe and made safe throws. Manning looked like a MACHINE that night! He made some unbelievable throws and was playing with a decimated team and inexperienced receivers. Take away the picks and it wasnt even close! I remember thinking...kravitz, your an *! Even though they picked us at the end and won the game, there was no question in my mind who the best QB on that field was! But im sure Kravitz loved that we lost to vindicate his article. so after again today reading his negative article about how there is no way Manning and Luck can exist together, Im tired of it! im tired of Bob's negativity. I think the "SEWER RAT" fits perfectly! Look, there is nothing wrong with writing factual articles that make people look bad or that are not always positive. But Bob has an agenda towards people! You can tell by reading his stuff that he likes to stick the knife in and rotate the blade. I dont know if he has "little man's" syndrome or what, but i wish he would go write somewhere else. To me he is a cancer for Indianapolis. This is just my opinion and im sure some people will disagree, but i felt like writing down what i have been feeling for a while.

  18. This dislike of Caldwell I can understand, but have yet to see anything in the overall track record of Bill Polian and even his son that doesn't lead me to think they can fix what is at issue and get this franchise back into the playoff hunt within a season or two.

yeah im not a caldwell fan. i would personally love to see jeff fisher come to indy next year. but all this polian bashing thats goin on is nonsense imo. he is a top 5 exec or better , (maybe the best). yeah he has had some 1st round misses lately, but NO ONE gets them ALL right. i see why he drafted hughes. during our sb loss, we would have benefited having another DE to help an injured freeney! hughes looked good! he was trying to help the team... he took a chance on hughes...it didnt work out. you show me an exec that has got EVERY pick right??? there isnt any! gonzo could be good but he is injured too much. i still think brown can be an excellent duo or trio with addai and carter.... the kids got wheels. yeah we missed on ugo and some others BUT we have found some diamonds in later rounds! the list is long so i wont go into it. i was a fan before polian so i know the heartache of drafting crap every year. bill came to town and the colts have the best regular season record in the last decade! but some people want him gone?? tell me...who are you gonna bring in if he is fired? is there some magic talent evaluator out there that i dont know about? bill polian is 1 of the best in the business and i wish people would cut the guy some slack over a few misses. it happens and nobody hits them all! but he has hit some outta the ball park during his time in indy! im thankful to have him on our team and working for indianapolis.
  19. APPLAUSE you are so right and people here are sooooooooooooooooooooo naive... Team is more important than player, any player

naive??? Anndrew Luck couldnt hold peytons sack......of groceries! yes, he is a fine young talent and may or may not eventually be a great nfl qb. peyton manning will go down as one of the greatest IF not the greatest qb of all time! BUT, you are ready to trade him off for a rookie that everyone says is "gonna be great!" If and thats "If" peyton becomes healthy, he will and deserves to wear the horseshoe on his helmet until he doesnt want to anymore! do you know the kinda drive for perfection peyton is known for having? how many hours upon hours he has spent watching and dissecting film? i have heard and read from MANY sources that he is unmatched in those areas! Luck may be more interested in cooking than football for all we know! when you look back at the history of football, its all the greats that are most frequently talked about. We have one of the GOATs on are team and you would get rid of him for some rookie kid that has NO nfl experience. Peyton (if he becomes healthy) could play 4 or 5 more years at a level that luck will probably never reach!! you guys that think the grass is greener over at stanford university are the ones that are naive imo. if peyton says he cant play....fine, draft luck. if peyton says he will stay a colt if we draft luck.....fine, draft luck. Otherwise trade the pick for a bunch of fresh new talent and lets let our boy (the guy that put indianapolis ON THE FREAKIN MAP) take us back to a couple more superbowls!! we will draft a qb in four years that they may say is a BETTER prospect than andrew luck.
  20. See, no one stops to think about these things. This is a great series of comments and I'd love for moderators to stop a thread once a piece of reasoning like this surfaces.

People just say what works as water cooler speech. They regurgitate the norm because it makes them feel as though they've won something - like voting for a guy because it's the cool thing to do instead of doing so because you've researched his political stance, worldview, etc.

I dont know man. maybe what your saying sounds intelligent to you....But to me, you dont really know what an individual is thinking when he or she makes a post. To say that is very narcissistic. I'm not tryin to be mean or put you or your post down by any means. i just think that you see every person but yourself as an *. I myself think Caldwell is a good coach.... Not a great coach, but a good one. I personally think Jeff Fisher would be an upgrade to Caldwell. Thats just my opinion, but i dont think ive "won" anything by saying that. Thats how i feel, by what i have seen from both coaches. So, if you want to state your opinion on why you disagree with my opinion...great! So be it. But to think that you know why me or anyone else has come up with our view is absurd. If it makes you feel better to slam me now bro, go ahead. Thats just how i see it man.

  21. what is wrong with getting the future of our franchise in luck? you want to suck when peyton is gone? atleast if we do pick luck if we are in that position we have our qb for the future and we can continue to dominant for the next 15 years. the guy is considered the surest pick since peyton and he backs that up with his play and film study. how are you not sold on the guy?

Actually peyton wasnt the surest pick. Alot of people thought ryan leaf was the surest pick. Look what happened to him. There just isnt really a sure pick for a quarterback entering the nfl imo. You just cant tell who is gonna be "good" or who is gonna be "great"
