Nothing better than the feeling when you realise the offseason is finally almost over.

Unless you are a school teacher and the lazy summer attitude has to change.

As for the Colts, I really look forward to the ride we are about to take with Ballard at the helm. I expect a few bumps in the road, but feel Mr. Ballard has us headed in the right direction.

  2. I'm not a quarterback coach and I don't know one so I'd like to ask a question here. Why does it seem that Andrew often releases the ball so low that it hits the outstretched arm of a defender being blocked? It seems to happen 2-3 times a game. I realize his lineman are often pushed right back into him, but is there something about his release point? At 6'4'', I wouldn't think deflections would be a problem for him.

  3. Irsay has put a lot of faith into Chuck and his ability to run a first-class NFL team. I believe Mr. Irsay is being too patient. Having a heart to heart talk and then extending both HC and GM was not enough to improve our status in this league. We don't scare anybody anymore. Not that we have ever scared the Pats, Steelers or other top teams in the NFL.

We have a monkey as a coach now. Serious question who out there is better??? Gruden aint leaving, Fisher aint leaving. Harbaugh aint leaving michigan. (thank goodness) Seriously who out there looking for a job is better than Pagano????

I can't name a candidate off the top of my head, but Mr. Irsay gave Chuck Pagano his first crack at a Head Coaching position. His results as a HC are in and it's not good enough. Give somebody else with NFL pedigree a crack as a HC, Chuck is in over his head. I'm so tired of being out-coached. It has to be demoralizing for the players to know that other team's coaches can make adjustments to help them manage a game and ultimately win it. Our coaches can't.

  5. Like most people, I enjoy traveling to southern California and only can imagine living in an area as cool as San Diego. However, if this pipe dream were to come to be it would mean I would have to cheer for the local NFL team just like I did when I moved to Indiana. The problem I have is the Chargers are lead by a quarterback who, based on his body language and reading his lips, is a total jerk to his teammates and not a guy that would be easy to root for.

I am so happy to have had the opportunity to cheer for a stand-up guy like Manning, and now Luck. I know Peyton was a perfectionist and was hard on young players, but he never had that "I'm better than you" attitude Phillip Rivers seems to have. Any incite on Phillip? Seems very pompous and arrogant.

Well we would've kept running the ball in 2nd if he didn't hand the Chargers 10 points. That said, the running game was pretty solid today. Was hoping Frank would eclipse the 100, but apparently it just isn't meant to be.

I agree. The game went sideways on us after the pick and we mostly abandoned the run. Gore is ready for that elusive 100 yard game. Hopefully in London.

  7. I believe Andrew feels they won in spite of him, rather than because of him.

Just like all high-achievers, his personal expectations are way beyond what average people see as reasonable.

All he needs is a quality pint of beer and a few laughs with his buddies. His positive vibes will start taking over and he'll will cheer up.

On to London 1-2. 1 game out in the division.

  8. Aggressive defensive game planning seems like a no-brainer to win in the NFL. It just seems like when we have tried to attack defensively, we have lacked imagination, or should I say the element of surprise. Teams always seem ready for us with reinforced blocking or the quick check down pass. A little David Copperfield magic might help with disguising our illusion of aggressiveness.

  9. I think that Ray Rice has been rehabilitated from ever doing what he did again. However, I think his next chance will come with a team like the Patriots or the Cowboys. And I'm okay with that even if he turns out to be a 1200 yd performer again.

  10. As a coach, I think there are players you see as "real close" to getting the job done the way you want it done. The tendency is to give that player extra chances to overcome those one or two obstacles that are keeping them from top level performance. The player competing against that player appears to be getting shafted out of playing time, but in reality the coaches are working just as hard with player two to overcome those one or two obstacles that he is experiencing. The coaches working with them day to day know which player is closer to overcoming his weaknesses and evolving into the productive player we all want to see game in game out. All that said, I believe higher draft choices do get more rope before they hang themselves and slip out of the line-up.

  11. I'm not a movie guy so I'll stick to musical inspiration .....

The Colts season will need these songs by the band Queen .....

1st - Crazy Little Thing Called Love (how we feel as Colts fans)
    2nd - Under Pressure (Ryan/Chuck/Andrew)

3rd - We Will Rock You (consider yourselves warned NFL)

4th - Another One Bites the Dust (one win at a time)

5th - We Are the Champions (after dusting the Packers in the SB)

6th - Fat Bottomed Girls (just because they "make the rockin' world go round")

  12. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but could he be hiding something in the way of injury? It seems very obvious that a rookie needs all the time he can get in learning how to be a pro and adjusting to the level of competition he will see every game in the NFL. Nothing to go on here. Just wondering

Wow, once again Goodell killing special teams. Pretty soon there won't be kickoffs at all. Every offense will just start at the 20 or 25.

I also enjoy the thrill of the all-out chase and massive collision on a kickoff play, but I do see the point about head trauma. That said, the economics of football says they will never take it out all together because TV still has to play all those commercials after each score and again after the kickoff. And again when someone is injured. And again when a ref reviews a play.... etc, etc....

  14. Peyton has a real talent for comedic acting. His southern accent and his subtle body language make it even funnier to me. I think Peyton becoming a talking head analyst would be a mistake. He probably would get panned by the haters no matter what opinions he offered. Stick to the commercial stuff Peyton - it's pure magic at this point. Wearing his bathrobe in the supermarket - hilarious!!

  15. For a topic titled "Calm before the storm", things are a little testy on this thread. Maybe "Storm before the Calm" would be more fitting. Either way fellow Colts fans, I am going with the glass half full point of view and Believe the small changes made will make huge improvements to the performance of the OL in particular and the team overall.
