  1. I believe Ballard used that to his advantage. Just like he did with waiting all those years to draft a QB. Just like he did with letting Reich make roster decisions at QB and just like he's gonna do when he scapegoats gus for this upcoming mediocre season when hes fired. Then the convos will be about Shane not having his DC. The pattern is so obvious it's blatant at this point.
  2. I agree with that I do see a world where if AR plays a majority of games, and can carry us slightly, Ballard would be safe off of that alone. But if we get similar results as last year, and AR misses significant time, or we can't win because of our secondary, I see him getting fired. Ballards draft is always my favorite part of the off-season, and I almost always feel better about the team after the draft, but for the last 5 years or so it's only gotten us to .500 so it's growing a bit old.
  3. Idk I think the roster he built from 2018 that peaked could've completed with any roster. At that point and even a couple years following I heavily supported Ballard but I too believe he should've been fired with Reich and co
  4. Quality response and I agree with everything you said. It's crazy to think that AR couldn't finish a single game last year. So if he ends up injured and flacco gets us another 9-8 type season he definitely should be fired imo
  5. I don't mind flacco. I just think it will be absolutely hilarious if we end up with another old bridge QB taking significant snaps under Ballard. It would basically be his trademark of colts gm reign
  6. https://www.stampedeblue.com/2024/3/19/24106304/can-the-colts-possibly-have-success-with-chris-ballards-conservative-approach Article from yesterday discussing the same topic Here's an excerpt from the article " During his tenure there have been two playoff appearances with zero division titles. He normally gets a pass for two things: Andrew Luck retiring and his drafting ability. The statute for Luck retiring has expired, and his ability to draft has been good but not incredible"
  7. NFL.com ranks Ballard as the 18th best gm. What do you think of that, and do you think he should be fired
  8. Yeah that's what I mean. Traded. Not resigned. Either one. He was due for a contract that year if I'm not mistaken, or was coming up on it.
  9. There's nothing extreme about stating facts. There's nothing extreme about the fact Ballard does the same thing and has only had the same result. Nothing extreme about posting a list of the division winners of his entire tenure and our team not being a winner. The fact of the matter is this forum is incredibly sensitive to any anti Ballard banter
  10. so now its inappropriate to debate about ballard in the ballard thread. don't read it if you don't want to.
  11. probably just a bit irritated due to the censorship regarding ballard comments, I apologize if it came off that way
  12. not trying to bait, you seemed bothered that I provided you a list of division losses. if you weren't bothered, then okay, next. but quite a few people on here are bothered when the facts are mentioned, that Ballard has accomplished nothing employing the same routine.
  13. im not saying the AFC south has dominated the NFL playoff scene, my point is that every other AFC south team has accomplished more in the last decade by definition because they all have a division win and we do not.
  14. it is relevant because you mentioned almost winning the division by a razor's edge. so then I just felt like reminding everyone that what you said we almost did, we haven't done in a decade. does it bother you more that I quoted you or does it bother you more than we haven't won our division in 10 years just in terms of roster right now, I think that's why I picked them , I guess that includes CJ, but I do like AR, also I think irsay is worried about it, that's why everybody got fired. the next guy is ballard.
  15. right now, if i had to bet everything I own on a team beating KC today, it would be HOU
  16. this is what im saying, every team's goal is the SB, and you have to make the playoffs, most teams do that via the division win because there the limited WC spots. so diviosn wins are a fair indicator of success for any GM. let me put it this way, had we won a year or two in the last decade, people would definitely use it as a point of success. so why are we not using it as a point of failure that we haven't hung a banner in a decade? lots of fans on here living in the 2000s
  17. i feel like you're just comparing bad to bad. honestly. you would take less wins, less QB stability, less division titles to sit with ballard ? wow, the jags, who woullda thought, have accomplished more than the Indianapolis colts.
  18. winning the division does matter, and teams are very vocal about it. it's the only way to guarantee a ticket to the dance. and the whole point of football is getting into the dance.
  19. Honestly, every team in the AFC south has accomplished more than us in the last decade.
  20. that the indianapolis colts have accomplished absolutely nothing under ballard, and that the razor edge you speak of for 2023 doesn't matter, because its been a decade of trash, and that our success last season is more indicative of Shane and not ballard.
  21. 2023 — Houston Texans 2022 — Jacksonville Jaguars 2021 — Tennessee Titans 2020 — Tennessee Titans 2019 — Houston Texans 2018 — Houston Texans 2017 — Jacksonville Jaguars 2016 — Houston Texans 2015 — Houston Texans 2014 — Indianapolis Colts but yeah, the Ballard approach is fine.
  22. You love stats, don't you? We are the 2nd most injured team in the league under Ballard's tenure The Titans, Texans, and Jags have all accomplished more than us under Ballard's tenure. so let's not talk about every team, let's just talk about our division. can we get a division dub before we talk about SuperBowl? you hyperbolize me, but the reality is still the same.
  23. they typically don't do it midgame though. when Thomas was single high, he was single high. They might interchange them from game to game, but that's not any team's goal. You want the FS to be a ballhawk, and you want a solid tackling SS that can cover backs and TEs, in this system that's the goal. its been laid out and stated clearly. So again, we don't have the FS, and unless Cross pans out we also need a SS, and if you move Cross to FS we need the SS
  24. @Solid84 2021, 2nd Round Dayo Odeyingbo - rotaional piece. he is my favorite on breaking out
