People are still arguing over this? Not sure why. Maybe to put some blame on the coach?
The reality is that a backup QB threw a bad pass to a running back with only 6 catches on the year.
If you wanna blame anyone for goodson being in the game it should be Ballard. If you wanna blame someone for minshew inaccurate pass you blame minshew.
But to blame our coach of the year candidate for calling a pass to a wide open running back is mind boggling.
What coach would you rather have? This is silly. We over achieved and came up short one play. Welcome to football.

You just said it. Bad execution by a practice squad running back when the best player on the roster (who had 188 yards rushing tonight) is watching from the sideline. You can try to justify that all you want, but it cannot be justified.I'm not defending anything I just said it wasn't a bad call. Not sure why goodson was in over Taylor

I feel like the people comparing Reich to steichen are really just doing it out of spite.
I'm not sure where the motivation comes from but I saw considerable differences in the team and the management of players.
Reich is the first head coach to be fired in back to back seasons. Steichen Inherited a 4 win team and just almost took them to the playoffs. They're not the same.

Now we can start talking about if Pittman is a number one receiver again.
Fun

I don't understand why people are blaming steichen. The only mistake I see is wasting a timeout at the end.
Play call was fine. Bad execution by a backup QB and a practice squad running back.

Let's be honest we over achieved anyways. Roster needs more talent.
7th rounders starting all over the place.

Season on the line and we throw it to a practice squad running back.

Let's hope we find out.
I think this is more of a Gus Bradley shortcoming. Stubbornness. Thomas has needed replaced for a couple months now.
Yeah most likely. Usually pretty easy to fill the vet role through cheap FA.
Thought they brought Cross in for the SS spot in the first place? Then moved Blackmon over to SS and I guess, had Cross practicing FS more to take over for Thomas?
Wouldn't mind resigning both.
They're on record saying they kind of view the spots as somewhat interchangeable.
From what I seen he was at FS mostly against Oakland with Harrison in the box.
But to me he fits more of a ss or dime backer role than FS but he does have the speed to play free safety

IDK? I'm starting to lean towards the team potentially letting Blackmon walk. Wouldn't mind if we re-sign him though. Guess will depend on contract demands.
I like Blackmon, I think he is solid, but we still have Cross, Thomas, Scott(IR) under rookie deals. Then add to that, the fact that Blackmon has had a hard time staying healthy.(missed games every season because of injuries)
He graded out as the 36th best safety this season.
Yeah, I stick by statement, that "I can't wait till he isn't our starting QB anymore", while also acknowledging, that I'm glad we have him and the roller coaster has been a blast, hopefully there's still a few more peaks on this ride.
In terms of blackmon I mainly meant when healthy this season he'd probably start opposite cross.
I haven't put a lot of thought into resigning him but I don't think his replacement is already on the roster.
Look how long they made cross sit. Maybe if Blackmon leaves you slide Cross over to strong safety, but then you would need to unbench Thomas, who is a smart player but also seems to be a poor tackler, and often doesn't recognize the corner getting beat in time.
So we would probably need another safety in that scenario. Either way we probably need another safety, I wouldn't count on Scott either personally.
I'd like Kenny and Blackmon back on 2 year deals.

I think the colts should use Mallory more!
Dude is a playmaker.
Yeah same. I think they could put him out wide too if they wanted tbh

Cross and Blackmon are probably the safeties going forward
Thomas missed a lot of tackles in his last games, and he also consistently was not covering when Jones got beat.
Yesterday we saw Jones get beat on a double move that Cross sprinted to save. Without that save we probably lose the game tbh.
Also for the negative people in here it really is mind boggling. What more could you want from a team that won 4 games last year.
Without being robbed we would be 10-6 right now.
Minshew ain't my favorite but at least he can win some games. Maybe even Matt Ryan would've done decent under Shane. Anyways playoff football basically starts versus the Texans.
I thought we would see Watson and Luck for 10-15 years. We didn't get that clearly.
But the future looks bright in our division. Like some predicted here the afc south has 3 teams vying for spots in the playoffs in a loaded conference.
We no longer are the worst division in football which people clowned for a decade or so. Discounting our wins.

He is a free agent at years end. There is no promise he will be back. Also, even with Grove they need depth. With that said I be very leery of this guy because of the reasons he was released.
im sure he will be back. pillar colt

I think everyone understands the description differently.
This whole forum is for Colts fans. I don't think categories are separated based on whether a topic is related to Colts fans or not.
Categories are differentiated based on whether the topic is Colts related or not.
The topic definition of "NFL General" says
If it's NFL and it's NOT COLTS, it goes here
As this topic is about NFL and "Non-Colts Players", it has to be in NFL General, by definition.
but its not., because im talking to colts fans, which is colts related.

I'd have listed Gilmore but didnt quite like how he exited.
agreed, for how he is playing, wish we got more. oddly enough, if he was on this defense we'd probably be an even higher seed.

It's this exact mindset that is counterintuitive to being a fan. I watch the colts to see them win as many games as possible not to see them tank Everytime a fan like you thinks we should.
