it’s possible he was leading teams to think one way or another to remain unpredictable- but also in the Ballard sense of “I told you exactly what I was going to do.”

he said they wanted to get more explosive on offense and limit the explosive plays on defense. He’s talked about the receivers in the class, and many have taken the explosive comments to mean a receiver early. Who knows… If sneed ends up here, that would certainly fall under the limit explosive plays on defense…

i wouldn't be surprised if we took a WR in rds 1-3, I just expect it to be another 2nd or 3rd rounder

Perhaps….   But the key takeaway from Ballard’s year ender was to get more explosive.   On offense that would appear to be mostly WR.

On defense that would seem more pass rush and likely a corner, but in what round?

i think he was talking about AR, or referenced AR a lot when going on that tangent. I think he too will want to see what Pierce looks like with AR instead of Minshew missing him 1-2 times per game deep

I suppose most anything is possible, but I have to believe the Colts will either use their first or second round pick on a WR.   I don’t see them waiting until R3 to draft one.   I have to believe we will want someone in the top 50.

i doubt we use our first rounder on a WR after paying pittman and drafting downs. maybe a 2nd

When we know how the Colts and Ballard act on the market IMO it's almost certain that either the deal is done or the deal is not happening at all. I don't think I ever remember any big contract being negotiated by the Colts through the media. This just doesn't happen... like EVER. This is not Ballard's modus operandi. He does everything in the dark. When you hear about the deal it's usually already done. So... this line of thinking kind of gives credence to both versions - either the deal is done and just not announced yet(the more time passes the less likely this is BTW), or the Colts are not as close to a deal as a lot of people think and it's possible either agents or the Chiefs are using the Colts to leverage another team to give more(money and/or picks).

Honestly. I usually believe in what Destin reports, but in this case it kind of looks to me like too much time has passed without official confirmation and at this point if I had to bet my money on something it's probably that the Colts don't trade for Snead at all.

if it comes down to overpaying him, probably a good idea that we don't. I'm fine with taking a corner in the draft or signing a bridge CB to supplement the youth in the room. I don't wanna see Jones just given the outside CB spot like it's his to lose. I want him to have strong competition for his spot. If we can at least do that, there should be an improvement.

some people have said Dallis Flowers is that guy, but we still have to see how the players coming back from injury will perform, and when they will be able to perform.

If any of those top 3 OTs make it to #15, Ballard might have a hard time letting that pass?

But this is the FA thread. I'll save that

I don't see us drafting a tackle early. the only way that makes sense is if you kick Smith to RG, and if they were gonna do that they should've done it years ago

For anyone interested, I posted this in the salary cap thread as well for easy access.

    Salary Update:

These were my cap hit projections, some have come back.

Players name with cap increase from current listed Cap Hit(actual cap hit addition)

    Franklin +$3m

    Moore +$7m (-$6.1m)

    Flacco +$3.6m

    Sanchez +$1.6m

    Harrison +1m

    Sermon - minimum (+$140k)

    Avery - minimum

    Pittman -$3m (-$3.82m)

Still waiting on updates on the ones without ( )

Cap Hit includes players dropping from top 51 in correspondence to the signing.

+$9.3m in addition salaries still to be updated, by my projections.

So I will say my new salary cap projections after these updates is:

    Spotrac - **$21m

    OtC - **$20.2m

**My projection on outstanding updates to contracts, based off of current listed cap space on those sites.

so we will almost be guaranteed to do some restructuring if we do get a big name guy ?
