You know. Grigson is responsible for the 53 who were on the field tonight. They should have closed out a 14 point lead. They didn't. Put that squarely on Chuck Pagano's shoulders. He is a wonderful motivator. The players love him. But he can't win games. Period. End of story.
-
After all he was only elevated to a defensive coordinator for one season. On the heels of a very successful coordinator. Before that a position coach. We all know coach Pag's is a motivator. Beyond that?
-
By now I would think that coach Pagano sees that he cannot keep up with his peers. So replacing him might be a big relief to him.
-
I saw him frantically marching the sidelines during the 14 point meltdown. Was that due to the play of the Colts or their lack of coaching? I am done blaming the players.
-
Look. I know that Chuck is a motivator. I know that his players love him. But does he game plan? Why the heck can't he hold a 14 point lead? I have never said one negative thing about Chuck on these boards but now I have just said my first. Get rid of him.

I am about to put my head into the oven and turn on the gas. Unfortunately I have an electric stove.
-
Let's all get together with our pitch forks and torches and storm 56th street.
-
How can you not hold on to a 14 point lead against the hapless Texans?
-
This is the very first time I have said anything negative about coach Pagano. And I have been on this board several years. But now I say he has to go!
-
100 yards or 98 yards. One is an even number. The other isn't quite as even. Who cares but Frank Gore? So he got his 100 yds. but the Colts season is lost. I doubt that he is so very happy.
-
That is certainly a blessing for us

Bad and Old players. I wouldn't blame the coaching yet since our LB coach and DC (formerly a LB coach) are in their first year and have nothing to work with.
Lets just hope In 2017 the Colts hit the reset button and move on from every LB not named Morrison and draft LBs like they did OL in the last draft.
I wouldn't leave Morrison out of the jettison category. He is a thumper but can't cover at all.

Plays like this, to me anyways, are a sign that the o-line is indeed improving. The initial pocket is flawless, and when Luck starts to scramble, there aren't any holding calls. That in itself is a small miracle. And what Luck did in that play is straight up magic.
There is an active thread comparing Manning to Luck. This video is a reminder to me that in one area they aren't the same at all. Luck is so much more mobile than Peyton. It's day and night. Luck had a dozen plays in the Bears game where his pocket awareness and scrambles were keys to important completions.

Huh. Some of those losses were big blowouts too. Maybe the Colts have trouble winning away games when outside the AFC South division?

I like Rogers and Bray, especially as 4 and 5 WRs. I still think Dorsett is more talented than both.
One area where we still seem to be struggling, and I don't understand it, is with screen passes that turn into positive yards.
You'd think with Dorsett and Hilton both sub 4.4 guys (same with Moncrief when healthy) and Bray and Rogers not being too far behind (4.4-4.5 guys) that we'd have some success in this area... but it just doesn't seem to be happening.
Quan, although I think he is our 5th most talented WR (in terms of pure WR), does seem to be the best in space. I wonder if he could excel if we built a few screen packages for him.
I don't think the reason for opposing teams success on screen passes is any mystery. Poor tackling and below average linebackers.

LOS isn't as loud as the RCA Dome was I will give you that but I have been to some games like when we played the Pats in 2009 where it got real loud. I actually miss the RCA Dome.
Weren't we accused of pumping noise onto the speaker system at RCA? It was that loud.

OP...what is the source for the ratings you shared? Curious is all.

I just read an article on espn. Where they claim the following:
" Osweiler has all but crumpled against opposing pass rushes this season. He has completed only 33 percent of his passes when facing pressure and has a 4.6 QBR in those situations this season."
Now of course the problem we have is finding a way to apply pressure.
Brock Osweiler Under Pressure
How Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler has fared under pressure the last two seasons:
CATEGORY 2015 2016 Source: ESPN Stats & Information Comp Pct 45.6% 33.3% TD-INT 2-2 0-2 Yards/att 5.0 3.5 Total QBR 13.5 4.6 -
One of the raps against him out of Miami his final year was his lack of catches. Sure he had a great ypc average, but relatively few catches for a wr of his talent. He blamed it on Miami having a freshman qb. I certainly don't know the answer. Maybe he isn't zig zaggy enough as a previous poster suggested

That is pathetic.

The irony is they're not using anyone correctly. Reitz at starting ROT?... Nope, especially if he's not healthy. Mathis in a 3-4?... Clearly not working if his pass rush is nonexistent. Luck as a pocket passer?... Apparently they don't know Luck has the mobility to run bootlegs. Pat McAfee as a punter?... Clearly he should be a linebacker. I could go on forever.
I don't know about McAfee as a linebacker. Maybe on kickoff returns. That is about all....lol

Good is playing fine, just hurt now. Joe Haeg has played okay at guard. And only two guards play at a time.
I'm not really worried about the OL, personally. I know they haven't played well, but I like the young players, and I think AC is better than he's playing. Mewhort is playing great. Kelly looks good.
I think Mewhort is a very good pass blocker more than a run blocker. He isn't very athletic and seems to trip himself up getting to the second level when run blocking.

On a side note regarding the Jags - I'm sick and tired of people saying this was a good 0-3 team. nonsense. In the words of Bill Parcells, "You are what your record says you are". Stop with the excuses and nonsense when you lose games.
If we were a three and one team, we would be a three and one team. The talking heads have our roster ranked anywhere from 24th to 29th in the league. Out of 32. I'm begining to think they are right.

Colts are throwing in the towel.
I thought there was some hope for Sio. Not so much for Cromartie.
Gore - Finally a 100 yard rusher in the Luck era!

To put it in Hillary Cinton terms... at this point who the he'll cares. 98 or 100 yards who the hell cares? 2 stinking yards. The Colts lost the damned game. That is what matters.
