  1. I believe one factor that has fans bringing pitchforks after Pagano is that his public statements, full of cliches, don't give the outward impression of a coach who understands the nuts and bolts of football. (No Spider Y Banana) Perception is reality in fans' minds perhaps. Not the most important factor by far, but it's part of his image.

I'm with a lot of folks in that I see ample evidence of poor game planning.

I'm also concerned that every season we seem to start 0-2. It makes me wonder about Pagano''s preseason prep program/strategy.

  2. With all of our defensive needs l would make RB to groom behind Gore a lower priority for this year and try to get lucky with a later round RB pick. We can make do with Gore and Tobin if the draftee doesn't work out. I wanted to see more use of Todman too. I thought he was getting to the 2nd level better than the other 2. And forget Ferguson!

We sorely need all the young defenders we can get.

I believe they made strides throughout the season, which is all I really expected from such a young unit.  definitely excited to see what they can do next year.  I do have some reservations if any of them will ever become "elite" but I certainly think Kelly has that potential down the road.  Not sure about the others.  But if they can just play well "as a unit" then I think their individual performances won't be as much of an issue.

I think the addition of a vet or two via FA would help as well if for nothing else than to keep these young guys growing and learning.

In  free agency I would focus our limited resources on defense. I don't believe there is a proven edge rusher in the FA pool. A quality ILB and or CB would be my next preference.

Yes, they did show promise. No offense to them but this is the type of promise we needed in year one and not in year five.

Grigs and company blew the entire 2013 draft. Holmes and Thornton weren't NFL capable. We are still suffering the consequences of that blown draft and not only on the OL.

Exactly..as krunk also stayed a couple posts up, they play like this when it isn't as important. Season on the line???Dud, Jets on the road destroyed them...

    They just have zero consistency.

Like some have joked about here I would not be surprised one bit if all they need is a win in Jacksonville to get in and they freaking lose.

The talking head announcer on CBS was wrong. The game was not IN Jacksonville. It was in the freak London environment. Jet lag can bedevil you for days. I know from personal experience. If the NFL wants level competition they will eliminate the stupid international games. No, the NFL wants to expand the marketplace for its licensed merchandise.

Despite what the scoreboard says I thought they played alot better than what I had imagined. Especially considering the past 2 times we've played them we got utterly killed. With luck we would have won that game. Heck I still think Morris could have atleast got one of those goal line touchdowns. Maybe I'm a Homer but I'm just impressed that with a back up qb that if they could have scored on the goal line they would have been in it and who knows how it would have gone from there if they had a little streak inside them. Just thought a non negative thread not declaring fire everone would be a change of pace.

I like your point about Morris. I know it's not the norm in football but situational use of qbs might be a good innovation.

When we were down on the 2 yardline, we tried the wildcat. So we are willing to try special plays. Down near the goal line why not go with Morris at qb with his dual threat running ability. Tolzein tried to run it in once on both occasions. He failed both times. Morris might well have succeeded. Just a thought.

It's a milestone here. almost a decade and we haven't had one

Gore's 967 was only 33 yards away. Realistically what difference does 33 yards over 16 games make? 2 yds per game. Come on. It's arbitrary.

Sounds like Marvin Lewis might be ready to walk away from the game.  I think he's a solid head coach and he's contributed to building a great roster in Cincy.  Their success was their own downfall, as Hue Jackson, Jay Gruden, and Mike Zimmer are all head coaches.

If the Packers fire McCarthy, we should be all over him, in my opinion.  Ted Thompson is the reason the Packers aren't where they should be right now.  Like Polian, he refuses to make any sort of effort in free agency.  The struggles of the Packers are not on Mike McCarthy.  If he is scapegoated and fired, we should look to bring him in right away.

I doubt that Marin Lewis is at risk. if Mike Brown has shown anything it is that he is loyal to a fault. He stuck with Dave Sula well beyond what was reasonable.

  9. I don't believe 1000 yards is at all important. It''s just because 1000 is an even number. Team wins and losses are the only important stats. 1000 yds is just personal vanity. Cleveland may go winless yet there some players may have some nice individual stats that don't matter a hill of beans.

I don't believe its a done deal until I hear it from the organization and that is pretty much plastered all over the sports sites. I keep checking and have not seen anything. If it was a done deal I think they would have said so by now. They are holding out hope for something.

Here is one sports site for your enjoyment (a bit of sarcasm):

Asked on a conference call when the Colts found out Andrew Luck wasn't playing, T.Y. Hilton said, "we found out in the team meeting room when he wasn't there. Coach brought it to our attention." Talked about wanting to "win for him."

  12. Grigson seems to be too enamored with physical traits as opposed to football skills. Philip Dorsett has great straight line speed yet I don't see much of a route tree from him and this is his second year. TJ Green has great speed yet he was rated near the bottom in coverage in college by PFF. Le'Raven Clark was apparently drafted for his length and extremely long arms yet playing out of a 3-point stance is foreign to him.
