  1. I would say 98% of his plays are predetermined. He gets to choose from among which plays to call at the LOS. Only if the pocket breaks down does he improvise.

I watched one Stanford game this past year. You seem to have seen as many as anyone I can identify on this forum. Luck's positive attributes have been expounded by many in print and video and are well documented. Knowing that no one is perfect and all have weaknesses. Do you have any insight and are you able to indentify and detail the areas that Andrew will struggle with the most or have to spend the most effort in which to improve?

BTW you are getting older. One day at a time.

  2. I've never felt that Irsay lied about what was happening with Peyton. Likewise, it is not true that losing Peyton was necessary or inevitable in 2012.

It's equally as likely that once Jim told Peyton they weren't trying to get the pieces for a SB run in 2012 and would be clearing the roster to be filled over the next few years, Peyton simply said he didn't want to be here.

Jim and Peyton called that "circumstances". No more explanations are necessary. What is done is done.

For me personally, it's very disappointing to hear the Broncos talking about winning now and the Colts talking about winning somewhere down the road.

    Winning cures everything.

Time will tell how it works out.

  3. I certainly hope every single owner, coach, and player with the Colts when they kick off the 2012 season believes to every ounce of his being that they will win each and every game including the Super Bowl. I know that's the way I've pulled for the Colts in every game since I became a fan.

If it's so accepted that the Colts have no chance, then what's the point? All the changes are for the purpose of not having a chance? Don't sell me that bunk about there being a time table to win, there isn't. When it comes to winning and losing there is only the now. The next game.

  4. It really makes no difference, but I was hoping he would change numbers. New chapter in career, a new number thing that's all.

I must be frank, it's frustrating and irritating to hear the talk of winning "now" versus the talk of winning in the "future".

  5. Gosh. The Manning pitchfork brigade were out there quick on Frog. Everyone new what I meant, but the sniper rifles were just waiting........

Do not take everything so anti-Peyton. I LIKE Manning. A lot. I'm just focusing on the future. Let it be.....

"pitchfork brigage", "sniper rifles", ....you may like Manning, but these incendiary words would seem to indicate you don't have much respect for fellow Colts fans simply posting an opinionated repsonse to someone denigrating the number 18 for whatever purpose it was done.

Why the need to stir these issues when the OP was simply catching up on the sweepstakes? Why does it seem like that certain posters have such a strong desire to belittle anyone that uses the word Manning? Do as you will, but it isn't informative, helpful, or necessary.

  6. Precisely.

Irsay and Manning both see it.

    Most fans see it.

However, some fans are too emotional to see it, or maybe they just don't want to see it.

It's out of the question today but back on March 7th it wasn't. At that time there were two viable directions. 1)Manage the cap, strengthen the weaknesses, and continue to win now. or 2) Start with all young players and possibly sacrifice a few years but develop a team to compete for another decade.

It's true some people are emotional because of the individual Peyton Manning.

I contend that many more are disturbed by the trade "now" for the "future". Too often the best laid plans just fail to develop and the future never arrives. In any case, those choices are now long gone. The die is cast.

All a Colts fan can do now, be he old Colt, new Colt, true Colt, or bandwagon Colt is hope he has someone to root for come January.

I maintain the math still holds for whatever team. PM + mediocre defense/run game = SB

  7. Out of the question. That would only be a setback for both Jim and Peyton.

Peyton's about winning now out 3-5 years.

Jim is about establishing a competitive team years into the future.

That's two entirely different sets of goals.

  8. no not at all. if peyton is doing so well right now then why were the colts so eager to get rid of him? the seems this is just a front to get teams to bite

The most we know of why he's not a Colt is what both Peyton and Jim said in the press conference. Circumstances. They each referred to the third person in the room as "circumstances".

There has been lots of speculation about what those were: Cap situations, new QB playing time, health, etc.

Personally, my take (speculation as well), Jim told Peyton that the Colts were going to go young at all positions. A total new beginning. It would sacrifice the present for the future. Jim may have went as far as to say that he'd work a new contract that would keep Peyton for a year maybe two, but that he'd have to let the new Qb take over. Under those circumstances I'm sure Peyton would not want to remain a Colt.

So, both men had their vision of the future and the "circumstances" wouldn't let either of those visions co-exist.

That certainly doesn't make either a "bad guy" as so many wish to characterize it. Neither does it show an "eagerness" to leave or to be gotten rid of.

  9. I won't even begin to speculate on what it means to others, but I can for sure tell you what it means to me because I've been through this way too many times with the Colts since becoming a fan in 1963.

It means that most likely at best we're are not going to be into the playoffs for several years. It further means that if circumstances change or don't develop as planned then that time can be extended into several more years.

I truly hope the Colts turn it around quickly, but it's very risky.

  10. Actually, Washington only gave up or lost 2 future 1st rounders and a current year 2nd round pick. They didn't lose this years 1st round pick they simply swapped it. For RG3, that's pretty good. Had they waited till Manning signed next week, it would have cost a lot more.

There is no longer any choice to be made with the #1 overall pick. That debate is over.

  11. Miami, KC, & Denver makes the most sense from strengths such as O-line, WR, running game, and defense. Arizona's O-line gave up a lot of sacks last year and their cap situation with Kolb would be tenuous. KC & Miami would be a good fit for Wayne also, he works best opposite someone like Marshal or Bowe. Miami is in a desireable location for Peyton.

Garcon seems to be at a point where he's more interested in the money. I don't think he follows Peyton. Actually, I don't think anyone will pay what he expects and he will eventually re-sign with the Colts because they are soooo thin at WR.

    But, who knows.

  12. nothing is guaranteed. deal with it.

I'm sorry. You misunderstood me. I wasn't referring to the "guaranteed" statement. I was referring to your confrontational, abusive, and bullying response.

Saying "nothing is guaranteed" would've have been appropriate and correct btw. But, "garbage". That's just disrespectful.

"Deal with it", in your response to me is nothing more than confrontational and challenging. It doesn't bother me, and I've nothing to get over. However, I am going to call your rudeness to attention.

I understand there is an "ignore" option on this forum. I will be using it and I invite you to do the same.
