I liked Grover in the 5th. Not mad about it. Jake Butt's injury must not be healing as quickly as everyone hoped. Shocked he hasnt been picked yet.
history has shown players with these kind of injuries do not recovery and statistically do well post-recovery

2017 draft for us Colts looking good so far
-
-
McNichols fumbles too much...pass
-
Colts trade 121 to 49ers for 161 round 5
-
4.1 DT Vincent Taylor
4.2 SS Lorenzo Jerome
4.3 TE Bucky Hodges
5.1 LOG Jordan Morgan
-
Congratulation Clem Dog on Round 2 pick.
Horse Shoe Heaven should of kept original round 2 selection.
-
would love to see us draft either CBs King or Awuzie but in order to do that we will have to trade with either the Rams (37) or Chargers (38) and deal our 4th round pick (121).

A: Kevin King RCB – Darius Butler replacement that can play FS as well
B: Charles Harris OLB

Round 2 - #46
A: Sidney Jones LCB – late 2017 risk/reward player taking over for Vontae Davis in his final contract year
B: Duke Riley RILB – early on my watch list and have enjoyed seeing his draft stock rise
Round 3 - #80
A: Joe Mixon RB
B: Shaquill Griffin RCB – if we pass on both Kevin King and Chidobe Awuzie can see the Colts taking the next best RCB with Shaquill here

I think it depends on who you draft and when. Everyone OL pick in the draft is going to be a wasted pick? That's not an accurate statement. The running game should not be as big a concern as pass protection. We can't let Luck keep getting beat up. Don't be surprised in we waste a pick maybe a guy like Dawkins or Moton.
You think the top S's will be gone by the 2nd? I think you will find good value on the back end in to day 3. The pass rushers are going to push other positions down.
know am a little late to respond...will not disagree that we could use an improvement on our offensive line but do not think this is the draft year to do it. Next year's draft class will have much better options in the first few rounds over this year's 2017 draft class. Main focus for our Colts and most teams will be to exploit the strength of the defensive draft class this year has to offer.
I would much rather see us select defensive backs and improve our defense this year early in the draft and next offseason and 2018 draft see about making upgrades to our offensive line.
-
I agree we could use some help on defense with adding a few Cornerbacks. We definitely could use an upgraded right cornerback. In Round 1 prefer RCB's Chidobe Awuzie or Kevin King (dual as a FS). Both of these players I have seen recently being mentioned as first round selections.
Round 2 would double up and select LCB Sidney Jones (torn Achilles) with very late expectations 2017 if not 2018 starter. Was thinking Vontae Davis' contract was up in 2018 with an average salary of 9m/year.
-
As much as our team's running game is pedestrian at times and ranks near the back end our passing defense is and has been horrid the past few years. This year's draft class compared to next year lacks the offensive line talent and would be a total waste of picks drafting an offensive lineman imho. Unless something happens during free agency we really need to upgrade and find true starters with our safeties and corners. This year is by far the best draft class for defensive backs and with other clubs expectations can see 8-10 teams needing upgrades at safeties which means by Rounds 1-2 the top safeties will be gone.
-
Round 1 - #15
A: Budda Baker FS – Bob Sanders comparison...need we say more. Longevity of safeties in the NFL playing into their mid-30s has proven return on investment thus this is our wisest selection here. Too many other teams also in dire need at FS and chances of landing either Budda Baker or Marcus Williams in Round 2 looking more like a long shot. Two years without a valid starting FS is unacceptable imo
B: Hasson Reddick OLB – With offseason movements no long a pressing need imo but definitely would be an upgrade.
C: Chidobe Awuzie RCB – imo one of the best right corners in this year’s draft and immediate defensive improvement. Experienced at playing the outside, slot and even safety.
Round 2 - #46
A: Kevin King RCB – Darius Butler replacement that can play FS as well.
B: Marcus Williams FS – At some point we need to address FS needs.
Round 3 - #80
A: Duke Riley LB – early on my watch list and have enjoyed seeing his draft stock rise. Duke should give RILB Edwin Jackson competition as a full-time starter.
B: Joe Mixon RB – Would be a draft steal to obtain a talented running back here. Although am holding any RB projections off until next year’s draft with futures on RB Saquon Barkley.
Round 4 - #122
A: Jack Butt TE – obviously a glaring need to add roster depth with a talented TE
B: Pat Elflein C/OG – offensive line depth
Round 4 - #137
A: Ryan Switzer Slot WR – Someone needs to push Phillip Dorsett as a full time starter.
B: George Kittle TE – team need to add roster depth
Round 4 - #144
A: Lorenzo Jerome SS – imo Lorenzo has been overlooked and is one of the better strong safeties with the skill set to be a Day 1 starter.
B: Matt Milano LILB – we need roster help on our left interior side. Matt has a strong chance to be a full-time starter when healthy.
Round 5 - #158
A: Josh Carraway OLB
B: Danny Isidora ROG
Free Agents: 3 choices:
James Quick Slot WR (2013 MVP U.S. Army All American Bowl)
Joey Ivie NT
Marcus Oliver ILB - multiple defensive player of the game accolades

Well since it looks like we're going to have pick up multiple DBs in this draft I actually wouldn't mind if we picked up Cordrea Tankersley with one of our picks. Had to go back and look at the tape a little more after he ran that 4.4 at the combine. Nice length and size, pretty willing tackler. Gets a little grabby at times but that's coachable to me.
Agree at this point in time we need to upgrade both safeties and acquire a CB. With multiple teams needing safeties as well I really feel we need to select a FS in Round 1 with either Budda Baker or Marcus Williams.
Round 2 take best RCB available with either Chidobe Awuzie or Kevin King. In Round 4 SS Lorenzo Jerome should still be available.
2018 draft class projects to have many solid offensive lineman projected in Rounds 1 and 2. Notre Dame's RT Mike McGlinchey being top tackle across the board. Plenty of LG to mention with Quenton Nelson, Martez Ivey. Jack Mewhort was decent at LG before getting injured in 2016. To me when Jack did return he didn't seem to do as well. Agree we need to protect Andrew Luck better and we had opportunities in FA to select quality replacements.

1) FS Budda Baker - biggest need imo. no way Matthias or Duke will be our day one starters. With around 4 other teams looking at safeties early and drafting ahead of us...have a bad feeling odds are against us taking Budda or Marcus Williams. This should still allow us to secure SS Lorenzo Jerome late in Round 4.
2) RCB Chidobe Awuzie...strong feeling will be gone so RCB Kevin King will be our next best who takes over for Darius Butler and can double back as a FS.
3) RB Joe Mixon...another player who has strong chance to go sooner. as an alternative we could go with ILB Duke Riley

There is no way we don't take a pass rusher IMO. My guess is fhe 2nd round. Unless Thomas Barnett and maybe Taco are there at 15.
agree we could use a top pass rusher. unfortunately after running fanspeak multiple scenarios would say our best odds is to select Charles Harris in Round 1.
Also agree we need to bolster our safties and hope FS Budda Baker is available in Round 2.
-
I would like to trade back as well and select Charles Harris. We really could use another 3rd round pick.

I can see us selecting FS Obi Melifonwu in Round 1 than eith RCB Kevin King who also can play FS or RCB Chidobe Awuzie in Round 2
-
not bad...imo with our 46th selection in Round 2 can see us selecting RCB Kevin King who can double down as a FS similar to Darius Bulter.

this year we did not need a starting running back. next year Saquon Barkley will be our main focus now that we have done a great job building up our defense
