  1. Gotta say it... I LOVE IT! Although Pittsburgh seemed to have an unexciting offense.. they have consistently ranked in the top 10 or so in total offense. I want a tougher team. Pags will bring it to the D, I'm hoping Arians brings it to the O. With or without Manning we simply weren't a 'tough" team to play against. The culture is changing...

  2. he's banked some cash...

he wont get paid here what he got paid in Canada.....

..and he has made good cash.....he may not be motivated by money.

What's the arguement for a head coach to come to Indy to be an assistant...

Work with Andrew Luck. A franchise dedicated to winning. He has to think if he works with Luck and Pags fixes the D then it'll be a winning franchise. Winning leads to job opportunities. If he wants to be a head coach in the NFL he'll likely have to go this route. Plus, with a D-minded coach it seems like the offense would be all his!!

  3. Trestman spends most of his time during the offseason working with young quarterbacks, developing them. IF and WHEN Luck is the pick he would be the best bet as our Head Coach. His specialty is working with QB's! He's won two championships in 4 years!

I'm a huge Perry Fewell fan, but Trestman is a very smart choice!

  4. Zimmer isn't going to make a move to take the same job he has now with another team. If he leaves the Bengals he's leaving for a head coaching job (hopefully ours but that's besides the point right now).

Also why are people so high on Fewell up to a month ago most people thought the Giants were going to fire him at season's end? That team has won most of the season because of Eli's right arm. It's been a good defense in the past month and it might be enough to win a Super Bowl but it's not the same defense that won a Super Bowl in 2007.

Fewell's the guy that lead a BAD Buffalo team to a 3-4 record. He's had an ok year even with some tough injuries. He would be an excellent HC.

  5. It's actually not that easy. 28 Million to be paid. A high salary player we're stuck with for more than 1 season in the midst of drafting Luck who should be on the field in no more than 1 season. They cannot cut Manning after they pay out that 28. The only other option is to find a trading partner who would pick up a big chunk of that, if that is even possible.

So no, this is no easy decision. All the more reason for Grigson to be uncomfortable with the changes that will be coming. To be the guy that cut Peyton Manning? To be the guy that passed on Luck? To be the guy that committed $30+ million to the QB position? These are all poor choices, but one will have to be made.

Also, he commented on insisting upon creating a balanced roster. I don't know how you do that with $30+ million going to the QB position.

In any case, not an easy decision, and not an enviable one. If we had Sanchez on the roster, this'd be a no brainer. But it ain't Sanchez... it's Peyton Freaking Manning. A sure HOF player that is not only the face of his franchise, but also one of the biggest faces in the league.

I believe Irsay. He's always been a man with integrity and respect for the fans. SO.. when he says if Manning is healthy he is a Colt then I believe him!

  6. Totally agreed. I don't see better option among available HC candidates...unfortunately.

    And this is a rumor.

John Gruden, Brian Billick, Steve Mariucci, Bill Cowher, Herm Edwards, Jay Gruden, Perry Fewell, MIke Zimmer, Rob Ryan, Steve Spagnuolo, Mike Sherman, Les Miles, Chuck Pagano, Clarence Shelmon, Tony Dungy!! ... to name a few.

Some have questionable records, but I would take any of them over JC...

  7. All I can say is watch the games again. Wayne especially got open a lot more in the 2nd half, Painter was not able to get him the ball. Many times they had Garcon running 12-15 yard routes in the 1st half and then shortened them to 6-9 yards in the 2nd half so they would not take as long to develop. Sometimes it was just the opposite if the line was playing well. Working with more 3 WRs sets and less 2 TE sets, sometimes going to fewer 3 WRs to 2/1/2 sets. Blocking assignments changed, many times they started using more cutbacks runs. The list goes on.

Now give me an example when they didn't make adjustments.

Wayne and the rest of the gang were more wide open because the Colts were trailing and the defense was playing a prevent.

Arguing that Caldwell is a good coach is almost laughable. He blew the Super Bowl. He called one of the worst timeouts in the history of playoff football. He went 2-14 with a talented group of guys.

Who cares about adjustments. His adjusments led to a 2-14 record. He took over an all-star filled team and coasted to a loss in the Super Bowl. As soon as it was time to coach and not ride the greatest Qb of all time - boom - 2-14!! Grigson's tenure will be tainted if he doesn't fire Caldwell, it's now his team, let him pick his coach!
