Chuck Pagano is a friendly, enthusiastic and firm head coach who Colts fans will enjoy leading their team. Pagano directed his team through its first on-field work in training camp on Sunday. The bright, sunny skies matched the mood and the nature of the team’s head coach.

Saturday morning and afternoon at Colts camp went smoothly for all reportees. Saturday evening, not so much. Quarterback Andrew Luck was asked to sing as part of a new camp-opening tradition. While Luck can tune an offense, he labored to carry a tune.

Sunday afternoon marks the first full training camp practice for the Colts. It is a time of anticipation for the organization and fans alike. A healthy handful of newcomers populate the playing and coaching roster, but one goal remains firm – to try to win games. Now is the time to firm the foundation and further forge an identity.

Saturday, July 28 is the first day of training camp for the Colts at Anderson University. The 2012 training camp will run in Anderson until August 17.

Andrew Luck was among the 90 players checking into Colts training camp today at Anderson University. The player who will draw a bit of attention over the next three weeks did so upon arriving. Luck is ready to start the next phase of his career.

Veteran wide receiver Reggie Wayne on the field has a flair for mastering the moment. Traditionally in training camp, he has helped frame reporting day with a visual message. Today was no different as he called in the military. What the moment represented was honoring heroes and working to the fullest as a team to serve Colts fans.

The 2012 season marks not only the 29th season for the Colts in Indianapolis, it marks the 29th year Chuck Pagano has been a coach on the collegiate or professional level. It represents his first year as a head coach, his 11th in the NFL, and he will be the 11th person to hold the reins of the Colts since 1984. It is a role that excites him and for which he is prepared and ready to attack.

Mike Gillhamer is in his first year with the Colts. Gillhamer has more than 30 years coaching experience, including 11 in the NFL. He joins the Colts after serving collegiately at Illinois in 2011. Gillhamer coached safeties with Carolina from 2004-10. His other NFL role came as an offensive assistant with the New York Giants from 1997-2000. Gillhamer also has held positions at the College of the Sequoias, Weber State, Utah, San Jose State, Nevada, Oregon and Louisville. This is the second of a two-part visit with Gillhamer.

Quarterback Andrew Luck is within hours of reporting to training camp along with his Colts teammates. It has been an eventful spring that started with the Combine and ends this week with some practice prior to reporting to Anderson University on Saturday. Luck is anticipating the next step of his career.

Goodwin served in collegiate posts at Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan before reaching the NFL. This is the second of a two-part visit with Goodwin.

Edgerrin James, the club’s all-time leading rusher, will be enshrined on September 23 in the Colts’ Ring of Honor. James is one of the most popular players in the franchise’s Indianapolis era, and he will take a place of well-deserved recognition.

Indianapolis Owner and CEO Jim Irsay has been around numerous training camps in the four decades his family has owned the Colts. Sunday he was present for the on-field opening of the 2012 training camp, and the seasoned leader of the franchise likes where his team is as the veil lifts on preparations.
