I think it's probably a bit disrespectful to want someone who has revitalised a franchise, a city and a state almost single handedly. No matter what, Peyton is the symbol of the Colts.
-
That is assuming that Andrew Luck will be of Dan Orlovsky/Kerry Collins/Curtis Painter standard.
We relied so heavily on Manning that is has shown up deficiencies in our offensive line. If anything, this has proven that we need to get better as a team as opposed to relying on one player.
-
I definitely like Streeter, very big threat, can go up and challenge for the ball - just the sort of receiver we need.
-
This has been my first season in NFL. I picked the Colts after the 2011 Super Bowl, because I knew Peyton Manning. I almost changed the Green Bay over the summer and I'm so glad I didn't. I love this franchise now.

Thanks for commenting on the site SuperbowlorBust85, replied to you there.

Gotta think cap-wise though; plus Landry is gonna be more injury prone.
-
Wrote an article for my UK based NFL site about some of the off-season targets for us this summer, give it a read and tell me what you agree/disagree with?

Freeney for Buffalo 2nd rounder would make sense; #1 Luck, #34 Minnifield, #41 Fleener?
-
Apparently he is weighing 261 lbs and has run a 4.88 40-yard dash.
Add that to his poor separation and average route running, I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.
-
But Calvin is far more fit. The reason Jeffrey isn't a first round lock is because of his fitness.
I doubt Barron will be there but if he is we have to take him - Kirkpatrick maybe, I don't know how much people are put off by his arrest. Minnifield and Brown will both probably be there and I'd be happy with either of them.
He's Mike Williams Mark II. Can't keep himself in good shape, poor attitude etc.
-
I plan to see Chase Minnifield there.... a great cornerback who the Colts should draft.
I agree. Dwight Jones in Rd. 3, maybe Derek Wolfe in Rd.4, Egnew as compensation pick?
-
Convinced we'll get UNC's Dwight Jones in Rd. 3 after hiring the North Carolina Wide Receiver coach; at 6ft 4in, 225 lbs, he's a good size. Questionable hands but can coach him...Julio Jones has poor hands but has been relatively effective for Atlanta.
-
Hines Ward in a Colts uniform to join Bruce Arians? Possibly.. but the man should retire. He had a legendary career.
Apparently Arians didn't use Ward often so Ward was disgruntled. Can't see itl
-
Interesting; could we see Dwight Jones taken at the top of the 2nd round? Has previous with Williams, worked at North Carolina for a while.

Stafford leads Detroit to a Super Bowl win.
Steelers fail to make post-season in 2012.
Jets end up with a Top 10 2013 draft pick.
-
Ok I've made some modifications to my Draft making this version a little more realistic since we are probably taking Luck 1st overall and letting Peyton go.
-Indy resigns Mathis, Pierre Garcon
-Indy cuts Bullitt, Addai, and gets Brackett and Clark to take a pay cut, Saturday retires
-Indy signs OG Carl Nicks, CB Tracy Porter
2012 Draft...
1st- QB Andrew Luck (Peyton is likely gone, so Im getting more confident this is the pick and it wont be traded.)
-Indy trades DE Dwight Freeney to Buffalo for 2012, 2013 2nd round picks. (Buffalo is switching to the 4-3, so they need a dominant DE who is familiar with terrorizing Tom Brady.)
2nd- WR Mohamed Sanu (We get our WR to replace Wayne. Just imagine Luck with actual weapons at WR to throw to in Sanu, Garcon, and Collie.)
2nd(via trade)- NT Alameda Ta'amu (Pagano gets his NT to work with and develop. Ta'amu has only had a problem with being consistent with his play, so hopefully Pagano can get the best out of him.)
3rd- DT/DE Jared Crick (He is a pretty good value at the top of the 3rd, and would have been a 1st rounder had he not been injured this year. He could end up having a JJ Watt type of impact sharing time with Moala and Nevis at DE in the 3-4 and DT in the 4-3.)
4th- CB Casey Hayward (Falls a bit but is good value here. We need all the DB help we can get.)
4th(comp for Session)- TE Ladarius Green (We take a project here at TE but could end up being a Jermichael Finley with some work.I made this pick because I have us letting Tamme go.)
5th- SS Tavon Wilson (We get a sleeper safety here, and Im not sure he is the long term answer, but if not next year's safety class is looking good.)
Rest of draft - BPA
This looks good to me, but would Buffalo give that up for Freeney? He's on a big contract and is 31 years old now...would be interesting.
-
Really not a good blocker at all, very much a receiving tight end. Doesn't seem to know where to go on blocking, footwork is poor, seems indecisive. Would need huge coaching from that aspect.
Receiving wise, it's impressive; he's got pretty safe hands, good over the middle. Pretty athletic guy, could be a good choice in Rd. 4 or 5 - as would Ladarius Green from Louisiana-Lafayette.
I'd love to have Coby Fleener on the roster but I don't think we'll end up with him. Decent options late in the draft, including Brian Linthicum too.
-
What about Eagles WR Steve Smith? Grigson had a part to play in him going to Philly didn't he?
-
I'd quite like Soliai/Garay, Carriker, Zbikowski and a WR but I can't place one that we could get.
-
Well if the Colts move to a 3-4 (they could with all the new coaches previously being in a 3-4 defense), I would really like to target Antonio Garay, he would be a great NT.
Targeting a SS would be good too. It's not a must though. Melvin Bullit is a competant starter, but if they want to take it to the next level, they should target Grant, or Decoud.
The Draft should help us, so free agency should be for immediate impacts and for depth.
Garay will have worked with Manusky at Chargers no?
Think SS will be Zbikowski, he's a free agent too I think.
-
Interesting, but not surpised. I dont think they go after Lloyd, I think Rams wont let him go.
He's a free agent no? Lloyd follows McDaniels everywhere, I'm sure we will see him in a Patriots uniform soon.
-
Well Tamme is a free agent...and if we do cut Clark, then Eldridge is our only remaining TE
Possibly; some half decent free agents knocking about in John Carlson, Joel Dreessen...I think Tamme stays to be honest, but it would be good to have a really athletic Tight End.
-
Kawann Short is returning to Purdue for his senior season. I'm very high on Fleener. 6'6 and very fast, may not be as physical as Gronkowski but the kid has definite ability. He may be the first TE off the board. If he or Kendall Wright fall to 34 I would seriously consider taking them if Barron/Poe are off the board.
Ah I didn't realise that, sorry man! I'm a huge Fleener fan, I'd love him but like I say, not sure he's our biggest need.
3-4 Defense: A Chance For Jerry Hughes?

He will be more valuable to the roster in a 3-4 than 4-3; but much depends on Freeney's situation and our interest in Jarret Johnson.
