I don't think it's cheesy or a troll job, honestly. A lot of teams put some additional symbolism in their championship rings...many times it has to do with diamond count. The Patriots' 2004 rings have 21 diamonds around the logo to represent their winning streak that season, I think one of their others had a certain number of diamonds representing their home win streak at the time...stuff like that.

If I remember correctly, I think the Colts ring had a red rivet or something on the horse shoe to represent blood and leaving it all out on the field.

It's a nice way to add a bit of a personal touch to the bond of a championship team and what it means.

    Boston's little brother syndrome.

I bet the Pats  fans trashed their team after that Superbowl win. They were probably saying, "Why didn't we win by more than 40 points?"

Nah, they aren't that dumb. They only trash their long time kicker after he misses an extra point in the AFC championship game. They also love trashing black athletes like Joel Ward, Adam Jones, CC Sabathia, and love throwing trash on the ice when they get eliminated.

I have no idea?  I played when I was 13 for the first time in 8th grade.  It was a prerequisite that you had be 13 back then.

Ah ok, I'm a bit younger, I had no interest until I got to high school, I just remember my friend who was our QB and who went through puberty much younger was a big guy who had to sit out a couple years of middle school because of it.

My Daughter will never play football as basketball and volleyball seem to be her strengths...could change though as she just turned 9...lol.  If I had a Son, then I would hope he would want to play but would want to wait until he was at least 13/14.

I think most kids just play in high school. Don't you have to make weight when you're younger?

Last time we played the not very good Rams, they spanked us.

That was Luck's worst game of his career, also right after he lost Reggie. The bottom fell out of the entire team after that happened. We would have been better off losing to Denver in Peyton's homecoming and keeping Reggie healthy. Kills me the way he tore his acl.

Yeah, people want to talk about how the AFC South is a weak division, but they always conveniently forget how awful the AFC East is aside from the Pats.  The last time the Jets won a playoff game was 2010.  The last time the Bills won a playoff game was 1995 and they haven't even made the playoffs this millennium.  And the last time the Dolphins won a playoff game was 2000.  Furthermore, the AFC East has had the Pats win the division in 14 of the last 16 years, including the last 8 straight.  The Pats are certainly a dominant football team, but their division is awful.

Yup, the only reason it's not 15 out of 16 is because of a fluke year where Brady tore his ACL and they still went 11-5, Favre balled out on the Jets, but it was Pennington's Dolphins that won the division. The Pats deserve their 1st round bye and home field advantage every year because they win the games they need to win, but the other AFC East teams do everybody else no favors most of the time.

I've heard rumblings that Jets fans are getting tired of him.  He went 5-11 last year and they're pretty much setting up him for failure this year with that roster.  Back to back sub .500 seasons could be enough to get him fired.

At that point I'd never take a job in the AFC East, maybe a decade after Brady and Belichek retire. Talk about setting yourself up for failure.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bowles is fired after next season.  They should be/are going into a full rebuild.

Bowles had one good year and blew their playoff shot against Rex Ryan twice, then a horrible year with a horrible roster. I wouldn't be so sure if he gets canned after this clear tank of a season but we'll see.

My fantasy-football-self is nervous because I want to draft him.  :beg:   (Although if he isn't going to start the season, then I should be able to pick him up in later rounds... )

But my Colt-fan-self would be fine with him missing the first month of the season.  His health in November-February is paramount.  We have the Rams and Browns in the first month, so Luck would probably be riding the bench for the 2nd half of both those games anyway... haha  I'd be OK with 2-2 after the first four games, whether Luck plays or not.

Besides, the starting QB missing the 1st month seemed to work out for the SB winner from last year...  :hide:

If you wanna win your league, don't draft him. Get Kirk Cousins in the 10th or Stafford in the 14th and you'll win.

I was not aware Piper died. Are you sure? The recent deaths are more attributed to steroids abuse.

He died in 2015 at age 61. Other notables within the last two decades are Lance Cade, Ric Flair's son, Test, Umaga, Benoit, Big Boss Man, Viscera, Rick Rude, Yokozuna, Mr. Perfect, Balls Mahoney, Bam Bam Bigelow, Chyna. Mostly drug overdoses or heart failure from steroids/drugs.

Yes, she died of a drug overdose. Amazing how many wrestlers die prematurely. The list is long.

Once a wrestler hits 50 their chances of death are twice that of a normal person. We still have Hulk and Naitch, but Piper, Savage (car accident), Warrior, and especially Eddie Guerrero broke my heart when I heard about them.

    I bet.

My wife really really wants to go to Boston.  Perhaps we will work it in this summer.  I will look into the Newport suggestion too, its close enough to incorporate into a nice trip for us.

I am more into the west.... Colorado, Wyoming etc... but, gotta keep the wife happy too.

Absolutely, it's like an hour and a half maybe, not that bad. We've been out west once (grand canyon, zion, bryce), but are going to San Fran and Hawaii on our honeymoon in September so really looking forward to that.

Never mind.. eyes are blurry tonight, been at my computer all day.  I see now you clearly said ROOMMATE which usually doesn't mean HS.

    Carry on!!!

Yea, from CT but on the NY border, went to college deeper in Patriot territory. Tough being a Colts fan there. If you ever get a chance Boston is fun to walk around in, and Newport RI is beautiful in the summer.

    Exactly

Now that I would do... he is likely one guy you want on your side in a bar fight so make friends up front and go party.

I went to school in New England and my old roommate was waiting in line for the bathroom at a bar and out walks Gronk, he freaked out and later on convinced two girls to flash Gronk in his section, he got a big laugh, then tried to join his entourage/limo later that night, didn't work.
