its unlikely Bowers will be there when we draft because i think another team or teams will be trying to jump up and grab him. They all know the same thing we do about how good he is so they will be doing everything to get him also.

Colts should move up in the draft try to get #3 from NE offering 3 1st rd picks not this year's but after, and 2nd Rd pick this year pick Marvin Harris Jr with the #3 if available and get an edge rusher with the #15 pick this year.
No they shouldnt. Id never give that much for a WR.

Also, A lot of the time players flop is because of what team drafted them. I believe that a lot of it comes from the situation that player is in to make them successful. All these players are busts could have had a whole different career if they were drafted by a different team. Not all players of course, but a lot of them yes.

Those top 4 teams are also like the only teams who have stud TEs. Most NFL offenses don’t run through the TE or feature them. Elite TE’s are rare to find. Kelce, Kittle, Andrews, Hockenson, and Engram are the top 5 guys In the league, with LaPorta having a shot to jump into that tier. You can probably name 10-12 elite receivers but only 5-6 elite TEs.
I just am always on the side of caution with drafting TEs high in the 1st round because there have been some guys who were supposed to be generational talents or elite players at that position that didn’t pan out or underperformed.
1. Eric Ebron,
2. TJ Hockenson (not on original team that drafted him)
3. Kyle Pitts (You can blame QB play but still)
4. Noah Fant
5. OJ Howard
6. Hayden Hurst
7. Tyler Eifert
8. Heath Miller
9. Brandon Pettigrew
10. David Njoku
The top 3 guys in the league were all drafted in rounds 3 or later.
TJ Hockenson is a beast.

The whole league plays a lot of zones these days and CBs still go high. According to pff almost every team plays zones more than half the time with the colts being around 60%
Its still important enough to take with our first pick if the right player is there.
show me source because no way do the colts play man 40% of the time. We play a lot more then 60% zone for sure. Id say we run about at least like 85% zone.
-
How important is CB if we play zone most of the time? Linebacker and Edge would be more important for us to draft wouldnt it be?

Evans will most likely stay with the bucs since they just reached the playoffs.
-
we live and die with AR. Dont draft a qb this year and just try to stack the offense to help him. If he gets hurt again this next year then you can argue to draft a QB.
-
If we did get Terry then we would be able to focus FA and the draft all on defense. maybe 1 or 2 depth olineman but 1st-3rd round picks should be defense then.
-
i cant believe yall are talking about this like its your business lol. People in here talking about things that have nothing to do with them and giving there opinions like they mean something.
-
i think we need to sign best DE out there in FA.
-
What would yall do if MHj fell to us and we passed up on him lol..
i know it’s not happening but what would yall do if that did?!

This is where I would like our roster to look like going into free agency.
Current 2024 Cap Space:
Spotrac - Not Updated with new moves (including 2023 rollover)
OtC - $58,472,587 (including 2023 rollover)
Re-signed
2024 Roster:(66 under contract)
Offense:(31)
QB:(2) Anthony Richardson, Sam Ehlinger
RB:(4) Johnathan Taylor, Evan Hull, Tyler Goodson, Zavier Scott
WR:(7) Alex Pierce, Josh Downs, Ashton Dulin, DJ Montgomery, Juwann Winfree, Tyrie Cleveland, Ethan Fernea
TE:(7) Mo Alie-Cox, Andrew Ogletree, Jelani Woods, Kylen Granson, Will Mallory, Jordan Murray, Eric Tomlinson
OT:(4) Bernard Raimann, Braden Smith, Blake Freeland, Jake Witt
OG:(5) Quentin Nelson, Will Fries, Josh Sills, Arlington Hambright, Lewis Kidd
OC:(2) Ryan Kelly, Wesley French
Defense:(32)
DE:(5) Samson Ebukam, Kwity Paye, Dayo Odeyingbo, Tyquan Lewis, Titus Leo
DT:(4) Deforest Buckner, Grover Stewart, Adetomiwa Adebawore, Eric Johnson
LB:(8) EJ Speed, Zaire Franklin, Grand Stuard, Isaiah Land, Cameron McGrone, Segun Olubi, Liam Anderson, Austin Ajiake
CB:(7) Dallis Flowers, JuJu Brents, Kenny Moore, Jaylon Jones, Ameer Speed, Chris Lammons, Darrell Baker Jr
S:(8) Julian Blackmon, Rodney Thomas, Nick Cross, Daniel Scott, Trevor Denbow, Marcel Dabo, Kendell Brooks, Michael Tutsie
SPT:(3)
K: Matt Gay
P: Rigoberto Sanchez
LS: Luke Rhodes
Remaining Free Agents:
QB: Gardner Minshew - walk
RB: Zach Moss - walk
Trey Sermon - walk for now, maybe re-sign later
WR: Michael Pittman - tag $21.7m + Trade(1st + 4th)
Isaiah McKenzie - walk
OC: Danny Pinter - walk(injured maybe re-sign once healthy?)
DE: Tyquan Lewis - re-sign 2yrs $8m, $3.5m year 1
Jake Martin - walk
Genard Avery - walk(injured maybe re-sign once healthy?)
DT: Grover Stewart - re-sign 2yrs $20m, $9m year 1
Taven Bryan - walk
CB: Kenny Moore - re-sign 3yr $27m deal, $8m year 1
S: Julian Blackmon - re-sign 2yr $14m real, $6m year 1
P: Rigoberto Sanchez - re-sign 1yr $2.5m
So for this exercise Pittman's cap number has no effect as he is traded. And let me preface this with, I am fine with Pittman back(hope he is), I just think it plays out this way. He wants to test the market, which he can if we franchise him(seems only option at this point), then I think he will get an offer on the market that Ballard doesn't want to match and he takes the picks. As it seems Pitt might want to head West right now?
Now new re-signed players 1st year cap hits total:
$29m
(5) players will fall off the top 51 in the moves for a total of:
$4.6m
Net cap hit for (5) re-signed players:
$24.4m
Subtract that from current cap space and the new cap space heading into Free Agency would be:
$34m
That's prior to any restructures/extensions or $5.9m saved releasing/trading Mo Alie-Cox.
Roster would look like above, and draft picks would look like this:
Draft Picks:
1.15
1st - (1st from Pittman trade)
2.43
3.74
4.109
4th - (4th from Pittman trade)
5.144
6.184
7.230
Would have (24) roster spots left entering the draft, in which we have (9) selections to start this scenario. I'm sure Ballard would move around and pick up a couple more.
That leaves (15) or less roster spots. 4-5 FAs:- and (10) UDFA.
Thoughts? What would you do with those draft picks? Keep both 1st? Options are endless right now. Exciting times.
I love this time of the year, truly.
I’d be okay with trading him if we got at that for him. I’d be moving up to grab a receiver forsure after that. Would swap 1sts and whatever else it took but wouldn’t give up the other 1st we just got. Maybe 1st and 2nd and whatever else it took but we keep the other 1st

lets look at what a TE can do for the team... Sam Laporta... Will defiantly be worth it to draft Bowers if he can be the same type as Laporta if not better.

I was looking at OTC and contemplating on draft day if RT Taliese Fuaga (Oregon St) was available at pick 15 we take him but make a call to the Lions and trade Braden Smith for their late first pick and both their thirds. Not saying Smith will decline like Leonard did but with the hip, wrist and left knee season injuries time might be to sell now. Smith figured would move inside to RG and improve an already solid Lions OL.
Also wonder how much the Colts will try to target college players who excelled in RPO offenses. Figure Nabers would be gone but Brian Thomas might fall to us. Brenden Rice (son of legendary Jerry Rice) in Round 3 is a possibility. Texas I do like Ja'Tavion Sanders at TE or Adonai Mitchell. Sanders am warming up to where he was already used to coming across formation to get matched up on a high safety on slide concepts where he became the best TE in program history. Have to do more research but SWR Roderic Burns (North Texas) was with another program that excelled in RPO and also adds bonus as a PR.
a 1st and 2 3rd round picks for Braden Smith????

You all want Bradley fired because the defense was so beat up but yet want to invest heavily on offense. That makes zero sense.
We want him gone because he refused to change anything that wasnt working. No blitzes, not doubling up on Nico when he was there only weapon. Giving 10+ yards cushion on 3rd and longs like do something different and stop letting the offense pick the defense apart.

The only problems i had with our defense really that actually frustrated me was us giving up 3rd and longs and no blitzing. When you dont blitz or get pressure of course our secondary will get lit up just like any defense in the league lol.

Agreed. In my eyes, Houston didn't "win" the game. The Colts handed the game to Houston on a silver platter. The one time the Colts blitzed they sacked Stroud for a loss. Maybe the Colts should consider bllitzing more than once per game. Occassionally the blitz does work.
That and maybe safety blanket there 1 and only WR they had basically. When Nico didnt get the ball they really didnt do anything against us.

-
its funny seeing people praising Stroud so much likes hes so good. Take away that 1st play and that random throw away pass that nico caught and he didnt do nothing special against us. Take away those 2 drives and there was nothing he did against us. Even that deep pass wasnt anything that special. it was a beautiful ball yes, but it was a blown coverage with no safety help.

If Pittman stays, i don’t think we go WR. I think they will decide 1more year with Pierce when he has AR as a qb. Don’t think they will judge the group as much not having AR.
-
Draft Caleb Williams, trade Fields and also draft a wr with there 2nd 1st round pick. If they keep Fields they would be dumb to do so. Fields will cost them a lot more soon and will be older than Williams so might as well get a fresh start at QB. Also Fields is not good.

me personally, if we are going to play zone we need better linebackers then CBs.

I think Colts have 3 WR with 1k yard potential as long as Pittman comes back and Richardson stays healthy. Downs was so good with Richardson and they were using him downfield right before he got hurt.
Can you tell me how he was so good with Richardson?
