  1. Pre 2008 I would agree, but given the state of our economy now, many are struggling to just meet daily bills and finding secondary jobs is even tougher...

I get what you are saying but this is a time when people need to decide what is more important for them. Making the house payment? Paying tuition for school? Car payment? Or Colts tickets? A lot of season ticket holders are not rich, but make room for season tickets by cutting back on other things. In my family, we don't go to a lot of movies, we don't take a lot of vacations, we don't go nuts buying thousand dollar TV's at Christmas time, but we have Colts tickets. We also live 3 hours away and sell a few games in order to offset the cost that way we get to pick the games we go to and we get playoff rights.

  2. You can only make a valid comparison if Tebow had equal time playing for the Colts. We'll then see if our defense could hold opponents in close games to let Tebow work his magic. My guess is with Tebow playing in a Colts uniform, we'd have the same record, 0-11. The problem with Painter is that we get way too many 3-and-outs. That's exactly what we'd get with Tebow.

    We would 5-6 with Tebow.

  3. I guessing that the cheapest season's tickets are well over $1000 for 1 person, and right now that is not in my budget, plus due to my present employment and it's hours I am unable to get a second job...and delivering pizzas wouldn't be an option for me because I would lose money on that job with how bad of gas milage my van gets....

First of all the cheapest season tickets are only $380. But when you are on the waiting list you would have to take whatever comes available or stay on the list.

Secondly, I think what TubaMan is saying is that people spend their money on things they want to spend money on and things that make them happy. What it comes down to is would you rather get season tickets or put a new roof on your house? Buy season tickets or cut back at Christmas time on spending? People can buy whatever they want, it just depends on what is important to them. One thing I was taught in an economics class in high school, and it is so true, is that I can buy anything that I want, I just might have to sacrifice some other things. Basically what he said was, if you want to buy a Lamborghini, then go for it, but only if that Lamborghini is more important to you than having a house or having anything to eat.

  4. I would be surprised if it drops by much, maybe 10% and you still have a waiting list. If I hit the lottery or find a job paying me around 50,000 plus a year I would get on that list, but right now even the cheapest ST are out of my price range. But if I can find some decent deals on stub hub again next year I will be going.

Oh I could see the waiting list being down around 7,000 maybe lower going into next year. I think a lot of people are going to give them up.

  5. Why is that? If Peyton comes back 100% healthy and we get some really good picks in the draft why can't a team that went 14-2 and 10-6 in 2009 and 2010 can't get back to say 10-11 or 12 wins next year?

Because this team's best players are getting old. The core of this team has continued to age because Lord Polian's drafting has been awful lately. We looking at probably losing either Wayne or Mathis, maybe some one else too if we draft a QB with the first pick. Peyton isn't the only one getting old.

  6. Okay, so lets say Caldwell is back and you don't renew and say the Colts go 11-5 or 12-4 make the playoffs and even make the SB next year which is possible, would you then buy ST the following season or just never buy them again?

The chances of the Colts winning a Super Bowl anytime in the near future are slim to none.

  7. I'm not a Tebow hater but what happens when...

    1. Teams have 10 games or even a season's worth of film on him?

    2. The inevitable occurs and the Broncos find themselves down by 14 or 17 points with a quarter or two left to play?

A huge part of Tebow's success so far has been because he hasn't turned the ball over much. That also will inevitably change at some point. Especially with the hits he takes.

Why is it inevitable that he won't turn the ball over? Some guys just make good decisions and don't turn it over much. Secondly, what do you think when Tebow gets more experience? He is only going to get better. Let's not forget he has basically played a half of a season.

  8. Why would those three coaches assures us the playoffs? Jack pretty much never went there and perennially underachieved with the Jags, Tressel hasn't coached in the NFL so that's not a given, and Jeff was always mediocre in terms of scouting collegiate talent.

To me, this thread just feels like a group of people who don't know anything and want the pseudo celebrity names available.

And no one on this board drinks more blue kool-aid than you.

  9. I started off with the 3 game package back in the 1990's then moved up to full season in 2005. Right now I'd say it is highly unlikely that I will renew. As NFL players and businessmen like to say, it's a business, and I will likely make a business decision.

  10. 1) How does anyone know the health of PM?

With Polian saying this, I guess the "We can't afford Luck argument is out the window." .

How do any of you know if Peyton will play another down? Just because he gets surgery does not mean the chances of him coming back are 100%. As we have seen with Peyton, he might has to go back and get ANOTHER surgery. And who knows IF he'll come back playing like vintage Peyton. Many people here are making the assumption that Peyton will come back like normal. I'm not saying he won't or will, I'm just pointing out the fact that WE don't know until that day comes where we have to sign him, release him, or he retires. That's just reality.

And also, this could just be another scheme by Polian. It's chance he could be playing as if we are drafting Luck just to make the teams desperate and up the ante.

And I for one would like to draft Luck and also wouldn't mind if we traded the pick, so I'm on both sides of the argument. But please do not make an argument assuming something (Luck will dominate right out the gate, Peyton will come back 100%, etc.) when we as fans do not know this. And then to make it seem as your argument is right and everyone is stupid is wrong. *Rant Off*

This is exactly right. Anyone claiming to know that Manning either will or will not play has no idea what they are talking about. So many people on here have said things leading me to believe that they have no doubt that Manning will be back 100% next year. No one knows at this point, not even Manning. Yes he had surgery but the last time he spoke to the media about his condition, he said the nerve still wasn't coming back. To me, that doesn't sound good.

  11. If we get Luck, it doesn't mean that we give up on fixing the glaring holes on the team. When we drafted Peyton Manning we kept drafting other players too. Peyton's first year, we had a losing season and kept building the team. It took time. We can't be so shortsighted and think that if we draft Luck we need instant gratification. It will take time to fill the holes on this team, but at least the most important position on the field will be addressed.

Yeah but we didn't have a QB making 90 million and a #1 overall pick making 25-30 million.

  12. and his team is scoring about 19 ppg when he starts. and there was the crazy win against oakland that inflates that statistic. Tebow hasn't played against a good offense except for one time, and in that game he got blown out and had turnovers. You need to score in this league to win. You need a d too in the playoffs which he has, but u also need to be able to score.

That defense was pretty terrible before he took over.

  13. The way he plays qb differently is the problem. All those hits he takes are going to add up and eventually get him injured. And those intangibles run out at some point. Peyton can't always win in the 4th, Brady can't, no qb can always do it. Tebow wins mostly by coming back in the 4th. Don't misunderstand me, I like Tebow mostly for the way he acts off the field and for those intangibles, but I don't think that will carry him anywhere close to a Sb. Tebow reminds me a lot like Big Ben. Has a great defense the keeps it close and so he can win games. Big Ben can at least throw it though when he needs to for lots of yardage. If Tebow plays against any good qb he is going to get killed. Once he is losing by 10 or 14 early in the game, he won't be able to scratch and crawl his way out of it. If tebow could become a 60% completion passer he'd have a chance, but i don't think accuracy can be improved that much. I mean he has trouble against air.

Tebow tore up the NFL's minor league (SEC). Tebow has swept all of his rivals (AFCW) on the road this year. He has 8 touchdowns to 1 interception this year. A few 4th quarter comebacks.

  14. The undeserved mania surrounding Tebow is so annoying that I don't want him to succeed on that basis alone. Not to mention his excessive integration of religion. I couldn't care less what he does in the privacy of his own home, but he's just over the top. Dungy had just as much enthusiasm, but it was completely unobtrusive. I don't want Tebow anywhere near the Colts.

More importantly, if he continues to succeed without actually learning to play quarterback, then OTHER teams will inevitably seek to replicate the phenomena - and expand on it to it's illogical conclusion. It could set NFL offenses back a good 70 years. Navy runs the same primitive run based offense every year because they recruit sailors first, football players second. The odds of them getting somebody who can pass the ball well aren't so great, so they just rely on hard work and brute force. However much you appreciate Tebow's "just win" mentality, is that really were we want to go?

I think the Colts want to win, so yes.

  15. Well Tebow does throw the ball alittle bit better than Ronnie Brown, reads defenses better, and takes better care of the football.

Biggest problem with both is accuracy and that's something you can't drastically improve. Maybe alittle.

If Denver sticks with him, they might as well try anything including the spread. Do anything that works towards his strengths.

That's exactly what I'm saying. He is never going to be Peyton Manning, he just plays QB differently than other guys in the league. There has been other QB's fail in the NFL or never get a chance in the NFL because they ran an offense like he ran at Florida, but none of those guys had 1/100000 the intangibles that Tebow has.

  16. Sure Coyer is going to spout off he just got fired. I would never take anything someone said as gospel truth since he just got let go. JMO of course but in my years of working I worked in personnel and have heard a lot of things when people get fired. rotfl They always think they didn't do anything wrong it was the company. Even when they got caught stealing from the company wasn't their fault. haha

Or maybe he is saying these things because he couldn't say them while he was still working for the team.
