  1. Hurts to lose him for the locker room presence, but if there's any position they could absorb a major injury to its WR.

Still have Cooks, Hogan, Amendola, Mitchell

    ...and Gronk, White, Lewis.

They just won the SB without Gronk, they can do it without Edelman

  2. So, you guys can finally rejoice.  You have officially been trumped in the embarrassing banner game.

The Falcons have a banner in their new stadium commemorating Jarrett's 3 sacks of Brady for tying the record.  So in a game where they had the biggest choke job in NFL history, they decided to raise a banner for a guy tying a SB record.

In all fairness women have gotten much more violent over the last decade. There have been a substantial increase in arrest from law enforcement in every section of criminal activity that includes physical violence.

I don't think BnG thinks it's OK to hit a female he was just pointing out the mindset of those females that use the fact of them being a woman as an excuse to get away with their violence. He has a valid point.

I to was raised never to hit a woman. But if a woman came at me with a knife or gun and I had a chance to blast her up side the head with my fist, I would.

    this.

My whole point was that simply being a woman doesnt make you immune from retaliation.  And if you are going to initiate violence, there's no reason for you to not expect to get hit back.  black, white, man, woman.

If you go around hitting people, you are going to get hit back.  Sure some people have more patience and won't immediately respond with violence, but some will.  That's a fact regardless of your gender.

Once again, being a woman is not carte blanche to go around assaulting others with no consequences.  You want to be treated equal?  Guess what, hitting someone in the face means you're going to get hit back

I hear where you are coming from and I respect your opinion in the matter but one problem that I have with your argument is the measure of dignity.

By your standard Mixon not only regained his dignity by knocking the woman unconscious, but also has shown all the other women that were there or have seen the video what they might face if they dare challenge a man's dignity.  That punch could just as easily have seriously injured or even killed her.

The problem with the "eye for an eye" stance in this matter is once you hit a woman, or a weaker man if you must, it becomes easier to justify next time.  It works both ways, but I was raised to not hit women period.

I would not have drafted him myself, but mostly because there are others that I would not have to worry about what type of domestic issues they have potential for (Mack).  But I don't consider that to be treating him "like a monster."

Trust me, I completely understand what you are trying to convey though and I do respect your opinion (once again).

it has nothing to do with challenging dignity.

it's as simple as teaching a set of the population that you dont have the right to assault someone with impunity just because you have a privates

No one has the right to assault another person....same as everyone has the right to defend themselves from an assault.  A difference in size/strength/gender doesn't mean you aren't allowed to retaliate.  It just means you have a better shot at defending yourself.

Real simple...if you dont want to get punched in the face, dont initiate a fight.  period.

I agree, to an extent. But then, I have been slapped by a drunk woman in a bar before (in Cleveland when I was single and used to hit what they called "The Flats") but I just gave her a look and walked away, it wasn't worth my time to argue or retaliate. She came up to me as I was entering the bar, put her arms around me, flirted with me gibberishly, and then slapped me. Nothing good was going to come out of it. I was actually going "WTH just happened" :) It is actually more credit worthy when a man who is capable of easily hurting you chooses not to hurt you in a heat of the moment situation, IMO.

It is similar to any other disproportionate response like someone pulling out a gun because someone else cut him off in traffic. I could however understand them flipping them off. :)

right.  they should be open for getting hit back if initiating the violence.

where it becomes person to person is what your reaction level is to the situation regardless of gender.  Some are more level headed and walk away from violent situations, other go in the red.

This I agree with.  The double standard is nonsensical and annoying.

    .

This I don't really agree with.  Calling it a violent attack is a stretch, he was clearly in no danger.  And when you are so physically superior to someone, a full force punch in response to a slap is definitely excessive.  Just because there is a double standard doesn't make it right, I'd say the same thing if he were doing it to a scrawny weakling of a man.

    equal rights, equal fights

  7. Pats fan...so I'll exclude any of them

    Dalvin Cook.

He's the most explosive back out of college this year and was the best back in college.  He is very underrated without the McCaffrey/Fournette hype train and really had some major character attacks around the draft.  All of his "off field" issues were conjecture and rumors, except for his troubles as a freshman.

His 3 years at FSU, he split carries as a freshman and was the only weapon on the team as a sophomore and junior.

    FR:  170 carries, 1,008 yards, 5.9 ypc, 8 td, 22 rec, 203 yds, 1,211 yds from scrimmage

    SO:  229 carries, 1,691 yards, 7.4 ypc, 19 td, 24 rec, 244 yds, 1,935 yds from scrimmage

    JR:  288 carries, 1,765 yards, 6.1 ypc, 19 td, 33 rec, 488 yds, 2,253 yds from scrimmage

Over 2 years as the main back he put up 6.8 ypc in the ACC, and had 4,100 yards from scrimmage and 40 TD.

That's a hell of a resume, one that is really unmatched. Since 1995 Colts have a Great one as well but nowhere near that. I am just happy with my 5 AFCCG appearances = 95/2003/2006/2009/2014 and 2 SB appearances = 2006/2009 and a SB Championship pretty recently = 2006 since 95. Colts also had the best 7 season stretch Regular Season record of all-time from 2003-2009 = 89-23. When Belichick and Brady retire you guys are going to never find replacements for them. It will get depressing at times because it will never get that great again either for you guys, you will have your down times - trust me. I think with Andrew Luck and now Ballard here, Colts will win another SB without Peyton within the next 5 years.

-The Colts have been to an AFC Championship Game with 3 different starting QB's since 1995 (Harbaugh/Peyton/Luck), that is a sign of a great organization as well.

true.  though funny enough the Patriots just matched that 7 year run (2010-2016) exactly....89-23.  All they gotta do is go 15-1 and 2011-2017 will be 1 game better, hahaha

What is scary is they could've actually had a much better dynasty than they do now. If it wasn't for the Mannings, they may have 10 SB wins. Peyton stopped the Pats 3 times from getting there in close games, and Eli won 2 SB's over them on some lucky catches.

yup, at a minimum you can say the Manning's cost the Pats 3 rings, likely 4.

2006 - the AFCCG was the Superbowl.  Whoever won was going to destroy the Bears

2007 and 2011 - Eli and the miracle catches

2015 - probably same deal with the AFCCG.  Whoever won would win it all

2013 is the only one I'd say wasn't one the cost the Pats.  That Seahawks team was a force.

The real change of fortunes for the Patriots came when Kraft bought the team. Parcells was already there and a few years later they were a Desmond Howard broken leg away from winning the super bowl in 1997. After Parcells left Kraft hired Pete Carroll to coach.

I'm optimistic that as long as the Krafts own the team, the fall after Billy and Tommy leave won't be so great.

yup, this Patriots run pre-dates Bill and Brady, it really goes back to 93-94 with Bledsoe/Parcells/Kraft.

    since 1994 the Pats have:

    - made the playoffs in 18 of the 23 years

    - 16 AFC East titles (96, 97, 01, 03-07, 09-16)

    - 8 Superbowl appearances (96, 01, 03, 04, 07, 11, 14, 16)

    - 5 rings (01, 03, 04, 14, 16)

    - 12 AFCCG appearances (8 AFC titles)

    - reg season record of 253-113

    - 19 seasons with a winning record

    - 1 season at .500

    - only 2 losing seasons

Houston's next game is against NE. Watson is getting way too much praise in the quarterback starved city while Tom Savage gets only criticism. I am anxious to see the how Watson does against the Patriots pass defense.

    1.  you wont see NE starters for more than a few series, if at all.

    2.  even when you do, prepare to be disappointed.  Belichick is notorious for running base vanilla defenses without the typical tricks and disguises he uses in the regular season.

Additionally it's well known he treats them like a practice.  He will give the offense or defense a scenario different from the actual game scenario and play call for that made up scenario to see how they perform and work on things.  He never treats a preseason game like a game.

Better bet for what you want is when they play in week 3.  Watson has to go to New England for a regular season game and all the scheming from BB that comes with it.

We didn't stand a chance no matter who we had (whether it was Kerry Collins, Orvlovsky, or Painter or any one else) we went from a potential 12+ win team to being a joke.  Brady gets hurt and the Pats don't skip a whole lot of a beat, they are still considered a winning team and expect to make the playoffs. I think Painter or Orvlovsky would win at least 6 games on the Pats with Brady going down -- our whole entire team was changed losing Peyton.  The Pats are a winning team with or without Brady (likely not a SB caliber team, but they could still win games with that system regardless of who their QB is).

I was talking about the 2011 Pats... regardless, when Peyton was on the Colts the team ran around him, specifically.  Any time Brady has had to miss time, whether due to suspension or injury, the Pats still count on winning and being a respectable team... the Colts without Peyton were a jerk, whereas with him we could count on winning 10+ games regardless of who else was on the roster, without Peyton they were the laughing stock of the league.

They were 5 games worse than the previous year with Brady.  If Cassel is put in front of an all time roster, that season looks a lot worse.  If 07 was a standard 12 win Pats team, that makes them 7-9 with Cassel in 08

And you're being facetious about the Colts team that fielded Painter.  They could've easily gotten a better QB in there but they saw a chance to get one of the top picks and took a chance on winning the Luck sweepstakes.

    and for the record, the Patriots+Bill are 19-18 without Brady (5-11 in 00, 0-1 in 01, 11-5 in 08, 3-1 in 16)

Anyways, the whole 'yeah but what about teh system' argument is selectively applied and is a joke.  What is Montana without Bill Walsh and the West Coast Offense?  You going to tell me he didnt benefit from an all time coach and system?  What does Staubach win without Lombardi?

For what it's worth, I have Peyton 3rd all time:

    Brady

    Montana

    Peyton

    Staubach

    Marino

OK, I'm starting to think Elliot Harrison just has a bias against the Colts.  He just did that top-5 pass-rusher duo and left off Freeney and Mathis.

Now he has this top-5 QB-WR combo, which he says is based on talent, not production, and he left off Manning and Harrison...

#5 - Big Ben and Antonio Brown

#4 - Joe Namath and Don Maynard

#3 - Dan Fouts and John Jefferson

#2 - Tom Brady and Moss

    #1 - Montana and Rice

Elliot Harrison is going to sit there and tell us that Joe Namath/Don Maynard, Dan Fouts/John Jefferson, and Montana/Rice are more talented than Manning/Harrison?  Get outta town.  Montana and Rice were not like elite-level talented like Moss, so that #1 ranking has to be based on accomplishments like SBs and stats.

I'm calling nonsense Elliot Harrison.  Whether it's based on talent or production, Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison are one of/if not the best QB-WR combo in NFL history.

Ben and Brown dont belong on that list...neither to Namath and Maynard.

replace them with Marino/Clayton and Manning/Harrison

    Just to play devil's advocate...

Then should another award be created to recognize those players?  JJ Watt had an all-time great season and still didn't get MVP.  He helped his team offensively and defensively, whereas a QB only affects one side of the ball.  Because the game of football is so QB-centric, should the QBs be separated into a different group when giving awards?  Let the QBs have their own award, then the rest of the league gets their own recognition

they do, its called Defensive Player of the Year.  the DPOY is treated nearly as highly as the MVP and is considered the defensive MVP trophy the same way the Norris Trophy carries nearly as much weight in hockey as the Hart.

                                             Vrabel Seau Bruschi Thomas

                                 Harrison                                       Mccourty

To the best of my knowledge this is best lineup, but if you think changes are needed go ahead and provide your own lineup

for Brady, McGinest over Thomas by a mile.

and assuming this is when they played together, Hightower or Ted Johnson over Seau

for Manning its easily Faulk over James

I swear half the time I think he makes these signings so his team can draw headlines because they always need to be on NFL.com's home page.

thing is they all cost next to nothing in $$.

its the cost of constantly looking for diamonds in the rough.  You bring in as many low risk/high reward guys as you can and hope a few stick each time.  By its nature youre going to have a good number of failures.

For every failure you listed above, there's a success like Welker, Edelman, Dion Lewis, Butler, Ninkovich, Blount

"Damn right, this isn't Indy" to quote the OP, we cheat in NE lmao and big Fing deal if we hung a Final4 banner, that was a Very Good season in reality. The Pats hung a 16-0 banner in 2007 and lost the SB, that is worse IMO.

    sound the kool aid siren!

hanging a banner for doing something 4 teams are guaranteed to do, every...single...season is better than hanging a banner for something that has only happened once in history? (only 16-0 season)...twice in history if you simplify it to a perfect regular season.

most of us in NE didnt like the 16-0 banner either, but it has far more merit than a "hey, we played in the AFCCG" banner.

and like it or not, that mentality from Belichick is exactly why the Patriots are the Patriots.  Every thing matters, whether its practice, game 1, or game 16.  Excellence and performance is expected at all times.  No excuses

by your own logic, the Colts in 06 were gifted the AFCCG.  After all, with the lead the Patriots had the only way they lost was because they choked the game away.  nothing the Colts or Manning did contributed to the win

It was so ridiculous and everyone knows it. You were given a gift, on top of the gift you got this year. Just be happy.

riiiiight, it was all a gift...

but apparently Seattle moving from the 50 to the 5 on 1 play because a deflected pass happened to land in the gut of a receiver lying on the ground isnt a gift??  really??

and tyree somehow making a catch stick to the top of his helmet isnt a gift and a fluke??

Wes Welker dropping a pass he catches 99 times out of 100 isnt a gift and a fluke??

point being, when you take off your pony colored glasses and look at the whole picture, flukes even themselves out.

and if anything, it was Atlanta who was given the gift in the 1st half.  Patriots were ahead comfortably in yards, plays and time of possession.  If not for 2 red zone turnovers they have the lead (21 pt swing as the pick took 7 off the board for NE and directly put 7 on for ATL)

But yeah perfect point. There are many great guitarists

depends which type of guitarist your looking for.

purely on technical skill its Vai

on emotion and playing its Stevie Ray or Hendrix

Baseball is probably your best bet for getting close to a unanimous, but even then you gotta break it down:

    hitter - Ted Williams

    closer - Mo Rivera

    outfielder - Mays

    fielder - Ozzie Smith

lead off man - Ricky Henderson

but you still have other spots where there's realistically 10 valid answers:

starting pitcher:  Cy Young, Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Greg Maddux, Pedro, Clemens

    power hitter:  Ruth, Aaron, Bonds
