i like the pick more and more at 6 rather than 3. the pick was in right away so it seemed like it was the top pick on the board. the oline needs some help especially on the interior

I agree that it's better we traded back to 6 and picked up all of the extra value. With the picks ahead of us falling the way they did I was saying to myself "you've gotta take Nelson or trade for a a bunch of picks".

  2. Just one for you guys to tear apart one last time before the draft ;)

    Bills trade picks 12, 22, 56, 97 to Colts for picks 6, 37

12 - Harold Landry, Edge, Boston College - Really productive college edge rusher, has good speed and lateral movement ability. He’s a bit on the small side for a 4-3 end so his run defense won’t be much of an upgrade, but he brings a good pass rush. He could be great if he learns better hand usage and technique.

22 - Isaiah Wynn, OL, Georgia - Instant upgrade at LG in both pass protection and run blocking. He is a good fit for a scheme using lots of zone concepts, too.

36 - Ronald Jones, RB, USC - An electrifying running back to be our new #1. He is fast, has decent power, and fits a west coast offense due to receiving ability.

49 - Darius Leonard, LB, South Carolina St. - A rangy linebacker prospect who should be a day 1 starter on our defense. The level of competition will be a big jump, but he is a good enough prospect to take in the top 50.

56 - Maurice Hurst, DL, Michigan - He’s rumored to be heading for a day 3 selection due to the EKG, but I’d rather us stop his slide here. He is a ridiculously disruptive interior pass rusher who looks like just the kind of DT that will fit perfectly in our new scheme. He is not going to fit in a lot of schemes, so this could be a great match.

67 - Michael Gallup, WR, Colorado St. - A good possession receiver prospect. I don’t expect him to be a #1, but I think he could be a nice #2 or #3 receiver. He’s got decent size, decent athleticism, and very good hands. Willing to make plays over the middle of the field, and will excel in the intermediate passing game.

97 - Jerome Baker, LB, Ohio St.  - A very fast linebacker who isn’t that big, but has the traits to fit our speed oriented scheme. He played better in 2016 than 2017, but he’s got coverage potential which is a premium trait.

104 - Wyatt Teller, OL, Virginia Tech - This guy is relatively new to playing OL, and would be best served not being a day 1 starter. Still, he’s got a high ceiling due to good size, solid athleticism, and a ridiculous mean streak on the field. He's genuinely fun to watch, and could be a good starter player one day. He's very scheme versatile imo.

140 - Tremon Smith, CB, Central Arkansas - A dominant small school cornerback who had some really good workout results. He could be a nice mid round gem to add to our stable of young cornerbacks.

178 - Matthew Thomas, LB, Florida St. - A hyper athletic linebacker prospect. His instincts have been questioned by scouts, but with more experience and coaching perhaps he can play up to (or at least somewhat near) his first round type of athleticism.

221 - Tomasi Laulile, DL, BYU - A fast DT to add to the mix. Moving on from Hankins is a clue that we seek those, and this guy has also posted 6 sacks over 17 games in the past 2 seasons for BYU.

  3. I'm afraid Ballard will not draft the immediate starter caliber lineman we need to get a good running game going... Not saying Nelson is the only solution, but I'd hate for us to pass on him and watch guys like Wynn and Hernandez come off the board in the 1st and all of a sudden there to be only developmental type of players left (even if they are talented). There really aren't that many day 1 starters on the O-line in this draft imo, even if there are some exciting guys in the class who aren't.

Not saying you're wrong... But this could just as easily read: quite a few linebackers will be there in round 2/3.... Guards that remind them of Larry Allen in the second will be 0. Both statements are true. Actually, I see a pretty big fall off at both position groups, if we're talking about immediate starters. I see about 4 linebackers and 3 to 5 guard prospects (the plus or minus is on whether you consider some players a tackle or center as opposed to guard). For each position group I think there are some good developmental guys, but I'm not sure which guys slip into the second round at either position who you could really start from day 1 (all depends on how the draft plays out).
