  1. I think I would much rather have a CB higher in next year's draft vs. an ILB although we could always use someone to help shore up the run game on defense.  I think we'd be better off drafting an OT vs. an OG as well because we have a few folks that can fill in as guard fairly well.  I'm not opposed to us getting an OG, but I think it's a lesser priority over fixing our defensive "back end" which looks just awful anytime Davis leaves the lineup.  I really want us to take a safety in the 4-6 round range.  Running backs can be had pretty much anywhere...even UDFA...you just gotta have good scouting.

  2. The thing I've really liked about Grigson is that he seems to "get a feeling" on the right players.  Moving up to get TY was simply brilliant.  I know some teams had him graded as a 4th rounder, but Grigs saw something the others didn't and pulled the trigger to make sure we got him.  Newsome's play is exciting and both our TE's have been great when on the field.  Too bad you can't predict injuries when drafting...   His UDFA's have also been solid and you just can't overestimate the impact this has on a team.  Who had us drafting Moncrief in the 3rd round this year?  He saw the value of this player and grabbed a good one.  Could he become as good as a Keenan Allen?  Who knows, but the kid's got something there.  Now this next draft I would really...really like to get a good safety, a quality corner, a solid run stopping ILB's and another good pass rushing/coverage OLB.  I'm all for the 100% defensive draft Mr. Grigs (minus maybe a 2nd or 3rd round OT).

  3. This feels like a trap game for the Colts.  Alfred Morris just put up 125 yards against a good SF defense.  Do you think they went over any tape of the Pats game this week?  They are going to feature a heavy dose of Morris and Colt McCoy is not rookie at QB.  He's faced some good defenses himself and as far more timely in the pocket and more accurate.  Their offensive line is pretty not great but our passrush has sucked lately so Colt may have lots of time in the pocket to find the open man...especially if we're selling out to stop the run.

I don't feel good about this game.  Pagano and Manusky better have this defense ready.  They were pathetic against the Pats.

  4. Here is an utterly random mock in November...

    Rd 1: Marcus Golden, Missouri - OLB (6-3, 260LB)

    Rd 2: Spencer Drango, Baylor - OT (6-6, 310LB)

    Rd 3: Eric Murray, Minnesota - CB (6-0, 195LB)

    Rd 4: Anthony Harris, Virginia - S (6-1, 190LB)

    Rd 5: David Cobb, Minnesota - RB (5-11, 220LB)

    Rd 6: Kevin White, TCU - CB (5-10, 174LB)

    Rd 6: Antonio Morrison, Florida - ILB (6-1, 230LB)

    Rd 7: Landon Turner, N. Carolina - G (6-4, 315LB)

  5. I think the jury is still out with Newsome and Purifoy. Werner doesn't dominate the way Mathis has. That's the kind of pass rusher we need... Someone that instills fear in the offense of the opposing team or forces a double-team. To me that is a first or second round talent in most cases not named Mathis.

  6. I was thinking OLB in the 1st then Safety in the 2nd. As far as the O Line goes, I wouldn't think we'd draft another guard early. Maybe a T to replace Cherilus in the future.

An OLB in a 3–4 defense is a pass rusher (Mathis). I like Werner's progress but we need an elite pass rusher opposite Mathis assuming he's even able to return to form next year. Good safeties can be found as far as the fifth-round. I took a look over at Walterfootball and there are several good ones this draft . When I said offense of lineman I meant tackle as well...

  7. I think either way we have to draft a safety in the 1st or 2nd. Sergio has played very well so I'd like to see him and our draft pick as our two safeties next year.

I don't see us drafting a safety in the first or second round...pass rusher is a much greater need. I think after that we need to draft another quality offensive lineman. I can see a corner going to us in the third round though.

  8. This seems a vast improvement over the last regime...which never seemed to bring in talent outside of the draft.  Anyone who was brought in seemed to be for very minimal payroll and contributed minimal talent.  Outside of Vinatieri that is...

  9. This mock is stinky.  I for one really hope the Browns return to greatness or at least goodness sometime this decade, and drafting Johnny Man-what the Hell...just doesn't seem like a smart move.  I'm not saying the kid can't be a star, but he's such a risk especially off the field.  Why not get Bortles or a top WR at the #4 pick?  Wow!  Six cornerbacks in the first round.  Must be one heck of a CB class.

I know I'm gonna shock some people, but I'd be just fine if we go "all D" this draft.  With so many offensive weapons coming back as well as linemen I say shore up our secondary.

  10. Draft

    Dion Bailey

    Ed Reynolds

    Kenny Ladler

    Hakeem Smith

I'd like Jimmie Ward in the 3rd. He's one inch shorter and a little lighter than Dion Bailey but has even better pass coverage skills and better production.
