I am shocked the Cards are so bad at 10-20 but it is only May. I figured the Cubs would be a .500 team before the season, at 15-14  they are playing like it so far. How about those Pirates @buccolts! Pirates are freakin 20-10 lmao

The young players have been playing really good team baseball, but they're young and will need to find consistency.

They just finished the first series in a tough two week stretch and may be on their way back to the pack.

    The future looks bright, though.

We should have traded up for Fields or Mac Jones. The Bears were one spot ahead of us, and they traded up from 20 to 11 for Fields. We could have slightly beaten that offer. We had a choice of either, whether you want the scrambler in Fields, or the pocket passer in Mac Jones. We took Wentz lol.

Time will tell, but I think we dodged  a bullet with both of those guys.

And, I believe Wentz was on Franks urging, and convincing Chris and Jim he could make it work out, and that led to his dismissal.

You defend this FO as much as anyone on this forum. You would go along with it and convince yourself he is doing the right thing if we sign Lamar after he did the presser for signing him.

Players such as Mahomes, Allen, Hurts, and Burrow have proved the team is about one guy at the QB position and Ballard is wrong. That was a lie Ballard said a long time ago to excuse the loss of Luck and pretend like it was no big deal. That worked out real well didn't it?

Well, if by 'defend this FO as much as anyone' you mean I don't trash them at every turn, O.K., but know I don't because I don't pretend to know why every decision is made. BTW, you don't know either.

THAT and I don't have control over every decision. BTW, you don't either.

That said, actually, I ponder if I'm watching next year if we pick up Lamar or Richardson. I'll likely start out watching and see if it's as bad as I anticipate. Ravens fans got used to it, maybe I can also(?).

Mahomes is great, but he has a LOT of supporting cast, as well.

Allen is showing regression. Maybe it's because he doesn't have the supporting cast Mahomes does(?).

Hurts? I don't count one year wonders. If he can do that at least a couple more years, I'll start buy in.

Burrow's career will be short if they don't get him better protection, and they could use a better defense.

And, I'm certain Ballard's comment was long before Luck's retirement, or injuries.

I don't think he was being disingenuous, and I agree with him on that thought.

Lamar is the only thing that would save this team at this point.

    Opinion stated as fact.

I could respect Ballard if he went after Lamar, but knowing him, he's vehemently against this.

I'd lose respect for him, not only because I DO NOT want Lamar, but Ballard stated very early on after his hiring, that the team should not be about one guy, and I agree with that, and brining in Lamar at the rumored desired contract demand is putting it about one guy.

Now, that aside, how about we swap this years, and next years #1s with Kansas City, and gain a decade of #2s, or players to make up the difference.

Then offer Lamar a contract the Ravens may not want in exchange for our next two #1s.

Im willing to have a discussion but if you're just gonna troll you should just move on. Im not easy to bother.

Nope, just wanted to point out that you dismissed someone else's take on Lamar as speculation, but you're doing the same.

You have one good year to base your defense of him to go on, but that has nothing to do with the future, and I see his successful record as being just as much to do with the team as his talents.

Another mentioned he may be a top 6 - 7 QB in the league. I agree, but think that says more about the decline of the talent at the position in the league as opposed to his ability to play the QB position. I see him as a wildcat guy who's going to continue to get hurt, as is the case with most all, if not all, running QBs.

Considering a running QB for a $2m fully guaranteed contract after is incredibly difficult for me to justify. Actually, I couldn't justify the 'guaranteed' part for pretty much anyone, at any job. Not at that rate.

Thats the cost of aquiring a QB who is 26 and has a track record of winning games and performing at a high level tho. He has an MVP at 26 years old. How many guys in the draft this year will accomplish that? Probably none. And how many times does a 26 year old QB with a league MVP even come available? Never.

Is that any worse than having a QB who cant win in the NFL and wasting a couple years trying to figure that out?

    I dont think it is.

    I'm convinced.

Trade far enough back in the first to pick up a first next year. Trade some firsts to move up and get a QB next year and save 200m.

  7. I've told this a couple of times here over the years, but will bore you again now.

I'm born and lived (most of now) my whole life in the Chicagoland area, but never liked any of the Chicago sports teams. I loved football and (at 10 yrs old) decided Dec 26, 1965 I was going to pick my team from a playoff game between the Packers and the Colts.

The Packers won 13 - 10 in OT in the fog, but the Colts were heavy underdogs, starting 3rd stringer (actually our RB) Tom Matte (Unitas & Cuozzo out). It was the most entertaining game I'd seen, to date, and fell in love with the Colts. Picking the Packers would have been soooo juicy since Bears fans hated them, but.... I'm a Colts fan.

I'd never been to Baltimore and really had no plans to visit. Then one morning I woke up to find they'd moved to Indy. I looked up Indy to find how close it was. Really, I had little idea exactly where it was (I'd never been east of Illinois to that point), and could easily get there for an overnighter and catch a game. So, my wife and I came down to see our first game, and really liked the area. Never mind the Rams blew us out. We continued to come down about every other year through most of the 90s.

We wanted to move to Indy but my profession isn't really popular in the area, so I was stuck, but we hoped one day.

Well, about 12 years ago I (kinda) got out of my business providing support for those in my business, working from home. One day I asked my boss if he cared where I lived, since no one was at the home base, and he didn't. A year later we moved down to the Indy suburbs, and could never go back again. Heck, no need to since many Chicagoans are still moving down here.

That's all I have to say about that.
