  1. Fingers crossed on McCourty but I don't see much in Gurley or Gordon. Gordon gives me the same reservations as Richardson in the sense that, everyone loved Richardson 100x more after Marcus Lattimore went down and people jumped onto the Trent bandwagon, much like how everyone seems to love Gordon much more now that Gurley is out. Gurley seems like a good back but he seemed to always have some nagging injury. I'd be extremely cautious about selecting a running back in the first round, especially a running back that may be out the whole first year.

  2. Everything I'm reading shows Phillips as either a 1st or 2nd round pick.

I have not seen anything that says lower than that.

Today,  I did read that Phillips has had back surgery and that is going to have to fully get checked out by NFL and team doctors in order for a team to take him -- especially with a high pick.

But on talent alone,  he seems like a 1st or 2nd round pick.

Wow, I did not hear that. Definite cause for concern.

I love him as a prospect but I believe I read that his back problems may be chronic which is extremely unfortunate.

  3. Personally, I wouldn't lose any sleep over this because most of them either didn't read the article or have zero knowledge about the Colts. Somebody said that Polian drafted Vontae and someone else commented that Indy would go 0-16 without Luck. Even the year before they drafted Luck, they won two games so its completely asinine to insist they would lose more games despite having a better roster this time.

  4. Take a look at total games played before assuming one was better than the other. Taylor played how many games in 4 seasons? How many games did Sanders play in 8? Take away the games missed by Sanders and the numbers are a bit closer.

I think that plays further into Taylor's value and supports the fact that he was better. During his time with the Colts (7 seasons), Sanders only played 43% of the games a season on average. Taylor only missed two games in his first three seasons until the fateful 2007 season.

  5. Sean Taylor. That man was special. He was the perfect combination of skills and athleticism. He could come down and punish running backs, he could play well in coverage and was a ball-hawk and he was a ferocious hitter.

    Just for comparison,

Sanders (8 seasons) 302 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 6 interceptions (stats from NFL.com)

Taylor (4 seasons) 299 tackles, 2 sacks, 8 forced fumbles, 12 interceptions (stats from NFL.com)

Sanders was a great player but Taylor was a truly unique and special player.

  6. Life as a pass-rusher must be horrible when you see Luck. He can move as fast as most defenders (lineman and linebackers), he has an innate ability to feel the rush and move and when pass-rushers finally get their hands on Luck, he shrugs them off and flicks the football 40 yards downfield for a wide open completion.

  7. I'm sold on David Cobb. So many things to like about his game.

He reminds me of Matt Forte and I positively love it. He also says his favorite play is power and he seems to enjoy running over defenders, which is refreshing. He seems to do a good job getting skinny and hitting the hole and he has the ability to make cuts without slowing down and make defenders miss. Basically, he can do all the things that Richardson appears unable to do.

  8. Yeah motor is the key. And I haven't heard anything bad about his motor. I'd take him if Shelton wasn't there....heck I might even take him over Shelton since he's probably a better fit.

I like the extra four or five inches of height Phillips has too. It makes him a bigger obstacle to throw over/around. He also has tons of collegiate experience as a nose tackle which is an added benefit.

  9. His pro comparison on NFL.com is Terrance Knighton who a lot of people here would like in FA. Would be great to get a guy like Phillips who can start day 1 and upgrade your line. Also saves you money. He's not Pot Roast his first year, but year 2-3 a few scouts see him as a Pro Bowl NT.

I've seen a couple places compare him to Albert Haynesworth before his big pay day. He's also much more likely to be available than Shelton.

  10. Peyton lost his last Super Bowl where he got blown out 43-8 with the statistically "best" offense in NFL history.

His arch rival just got ring #4 and it was against the very same team he couldn't score more than 8 points against the year before.

NINE one and dones. I think that says everything.

He's the Dan Marino of modern day, and he's lucky to have that one ring since Marino never got his (except Marino actually did have some poor defenses, and years where he had no weapons. Manning has been pampered his entire career with top receivers and good running backs)

Not to say he's not a great quarterback, Or he was. Dan Marino had the same problem, he declined too greatly in his last years.

At least he got his stats though and everyone crap brag about that and remind us over and over how it's the best stats ever in years where he fails to win a SB.

I am so glad my team got their ring vs him. Say what you want. I don't care. I heard it for 2 weeks straight, 5 years ago how we were going to get blown out and we had no business being there. Then it happened...Tracy Porter. And the Saints will never win another SB, I have come to accept that as a reality, but at least we got our one. We deserved it more, and wanted it more. Much like Seattle did last year vs him. Peyton can have his stats, Seattle and N.O. got their rings in the big one, and Brady has the 4 rings Manning has never been able to get.

The argument of Brady and Manning has ultimately been shattered forever. Brady ended that argument for good a week ago in the SB.

My biggest issue with saying Brady and Manning played the same team is that the Seattle team this year wasn't as good as last years due to injuries. I would imagine that an injured triceps? to Sherman, a separated shoulder for Thomas and a torn MCL for Chancellor severely hampered what their impact may have been otherwise. In addition, the Patriots were very close to, and probably should've, lost the Superbowl yet again. If the Seahawks OC makes a better call or if Wilson had lived to fight for another down then the Seahawks very likely would have been back-to-back champions and would have knocked Brady to 0-3 in the last decade and .500 overall. I will continue to fail to understand why all this praise is heaped upon Brady when in the final seconds, Butler is the only reason Brady added another ring to his collection.

  11. Looks life you're right. I was on the understanding it expired this year. If I were him I'd take the payment this year, getting $8.5M, and not extend.

    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/seattle-seahawks/marshawn-lynch/

If I were him then I'd sign on the line already. Ten million dollars and playing on a team that will be in the hunt for a championship seems like a win-win. The other concern would be that if you wait and suffer an injury or have a decline in play then you end up like Maurice Jones-Drew, in that you'll sign a small contract with a team whose biggest possible goal is winning 6 games.

  12. Well one part of that will occur next year.  No way Lynch stays.  Theres nothing they can say to him to keep him.  They cant say they need him because they demonstrated to him that they dont in the biggest game of the year.  They told him exactly how they feel, that they think Russell Wilson is their man and they dont need him when it comes down to the big plays.  To bad they were wrong.  Lynch is gone for sure.  If he doesnt leave id be as amazed as i was by the play call on the 1 yard line.

Seattle doesnt have say in if he goes or not.  Lynch has already said he wants to play for Oakland.  They have already offered him a contract and he hasnt taken it.  He was probably waiting to see how the SB goes, and since they just completely said they dont need him, i would not understand why he would want to play for them anymore.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000466712/article/seahawks-offer-marshawn-lynch-huge-contract-extension

I think Lynch is under contract for this year so he won't be going anywhere. After next year they may let him go since he'll most likely begin to decline but the only way he is not a Seahawk next year is if they cut him which seems highly unlikely given their interest in a contract extension.

  13. quoted the wrong post. Ps, Brady isn't overrated. Dude is good. Just might end up having lied flat out to his entire fanbase.

I know he's good but people say he might be the greatest of all time and that's why he's overrated. I don't believe he's better than Peyton and I think that if he wasn't fortunate enough to land on a team that immediately won three Superbowls then he would just be another good quarterback.

  14. I didn't even hate the Patriots. I'm starting to. Their fans can be absolutely insufferable, on the level of Lakers fans, which is ironic because Boston area fans typically hate Lakers fans for the same reasons I do, yet they are turning into them.

I'm a huge Boston sports fan; I love the Celtics and enjoy watching the Bruins and Red Sox but I agree that the Patriots and their fans are intolerable. They come across super pretentious and the players appear arrogant.

No one is upset that the Patriots win. People hate how they think they're amazing and the fans feel entitled. The biggest problem is the fans think they're owed something and fail to realize that their franchise was entirely worthless for the majority of the time they've existed. I would go so far as to say that most Patriot fans can't name any players from before their 2001 Super Bowl win. In five years when Brady has retired and Belichick has left, most of these fans will go support some other team (probably the Seahawks since they're cheaters with an overrated quarterback, like the Patriots now).

  15. Wish he did not go.  It is such a waste of time and a joke of a game.  No reason to put yourself in harms way if you do not have to.  I would not have blamed him if he skipped on it after the beating he took this season.  Enjoy your vacation and not waste your time on a meaningless game.

After a long grind for fans to continue to expect these guys to come out one last time is crazy.  They put their bodies through hell and earned a vacation.

Then again I would do away with the entire game and just vote an all pro team for the league and be done with it.

I don't mind him going. Its a good experience to be around and hang out with the rest of the pro-bowlers. He might even pick up a tip or two from some of the veterans. Its also a chance to establish relationships and those friendships can have an effect on stuff like free agency.
