  1. Maureen...

Folks are on Irsay right now because he's the only one left to blame....

It was Caldwell's fault and then everything was Polian's fault..

The older players always got hurt.,it was their fault

Well, everybody's gone now....You cant blame Grigson and Pagano..They just got here.

Just tell him that the hurt people feel was caused by the sudden impact of all this..

..and the longtime love those players had built up ....

Indy is more like a college town than a pro town and we're all (him included) hurt our guys are gone.

Almost everything about the Colts franchise is in doubt at this moment...and the future is very cloudy....

No one can predict anything..not even Jim Irsay

Except for the one fact that we know .......he loves his team. Its his family's team.

Some of us may no be around to see the Colts in the playoffs again...but that goes for him too.

So, yeah..give him a hug...He probably needs it more than any of us

    Let me ask you this,

If he wasn't the owner, would he be fired? would be be saved? If this was the Packers, he'd probably be gone too. IMO

  2. He believes in stability. That was the goal and it all fell apart.

I don't doubt that this was massively difficult for him. He was friends with the people he let go.

Now he starts over with people he doesn't know. That's not easy

He has a huge heart and loves this franchise. I trust that the front office he put together will in time earn his trust. Then Jim can step out of the spot light and people will stop complaining about him

I think with twitter he's trying to explain. I think a lot of people really do not understand.

I also know that he loves fans. So, no doubt this is difficult

    Would be for me

Next time I see him I will hug him for everyone. Especially you portage :)

Well, if he doesn't have critic's then life might be too easy for him ;)

  3. Irsay did the right thing we should thank him for thinking with his HEAD and not his HEART. Polian created this mess overpaying some vets and puting us in salary cap mess. Its better to start cleaning house right away instead of slowly takeing it apart all of theses COLTS we let go where all injured and ageing.Come on COLT fans wake up and think with your HEAD instead of your HEART GO JIM GO COLTS

so wait, Jim didn't see these upcoming cap problems? uhh, what was he doing then?

If he wasn't the owner, he'd be fired too

  4. Yep, you're right. I can't beat the "rings" argument, because absolutely everyone who uses it finds it easier and less time-consuming to just look at spreadsheets, compare stats, or just stare at a player's hand and count the shiny things than it is to actually watch football and understand how it works. I assume you're in the "Eli is better than Peyton" camp

I'm fine with cutting Manning because at this stage of our franchise,15 years of Luck is better than 3 years of Manning, but I don't underappreciate Manning's value. We've sustained success because of his greatness, the Eagles have sustained success (one missed playoff year notwithstanding) because of their philosophy. Maybe I'm overrating Grigson, and I respect what Bill Polian did for this franchise, but I'd take you, me, or any random 7-11 clerk over Chris Polian as the GM of this team. 99% of this board have clamored for a bigger, more physical defense and a better O-line, and now that we're going to get it, a ton of people are whining about the sacrifices make that possible

No, I think at the QB position you can take out the "rings" factor.

I'm with 99% of the board who want a bigger team. I'm just in the group that thinks we should've traded the #1 pick. This team is totally rebuilding, I'm just stating my opinion that we didn't have to go that route completely. time will tell i guess

  5. I agree but it appears from most all of portagecolts posts, he does not really care for the Colts so perhaps once PM picks a place, he can move on to their board and be happy again. So many teams have had lots of stars on their team yet couldn't get to the big dance and many of them can't even get to the playoffs so rational people understand that having a top notch QB first gives you the best opportunity to build a team that can get to the big danc and win it. Which is the last team to win the SB without a top notch QB? The last one I can recall is Baltimore with Dilfer and what year was that?

what is the opposite of Love? judging by your post, you think it is hate.

Wrong, the opposite of love is apathy.

    dont ever judge me again

  6. Who would be our QB? Tannehill? Maybe Matt Flynn aka bust? Luck is a great way to start rebuilding. QB is the most important position in football and also the most desired...It's very hard to find a franchise/long-term QB, look at the Broncos...they've been looking forever since Elways left, and Elway left them with a 32nd draft pick. I'm not saying that Luck is a guarantee non-bust or guarantees dominance, but he's definitely the one with the most potential, in my opinion, out of all the other options. We started building with Peyton, now we are doing the same with Luck. Draft picks DO NOT equal stars, they could all be busts for all we know. Look what the Redskins got for Ricky, every single draft pick that year and look how it worked out for them...not so well right? When rebuilding, you start with the most important position and that is QB.

yep, if luck is a bust then we will be rebuilding for over a decade

  7. Because you didn't seem to KNOW this in your previous post.

So, let me put it this way: It is my opinion that it may not be any of our business.

There, 5 more seconds of your life that you'll never get back.

If you buy jerseys, auto's, hats, t-shirts, watch games on TV, go to games, and in any way shape or form put money into the pocket of the Indianapolis Colts, then you sure as $##% have a right to make it part of our business and voice your opinion on it.

  8. Oh gee, the end all/be all, totally intelligent "rings" argument. The two things I liked about their model is extending core players while it's cheaper to do so, rather than waiting until they're free agents and either negotiating against the market or the guaranteed franchise tag tender...AND building depth on the offensive and defensive lines and working your way out (sorry, I'm old school and still think franchise QB aside, games are won in the trenches). Please oh please, explain how I'm so stupid for wanting that

sounds like you can't beat that argument, the one about "rings".

didn't the "dream team" underplay last year? I think some of that should be on his shoulders.

If you wanted to build up the "trenches" we should've traded that #1 pick for a huge payoff

  9. There's no one to be angry with...

But that doesnt mean we are not crushed.

Some of us may not live long enough to see the Colts win another playoff game.

How long has it been for the Cowboys..the Raiders??

even better, we can become the new washington. All these people on here excited about Free agents.

example: "If we sign Coltson, that would be amazing!!"

    what a joke

  10. I'm sure Irsay anxiously awaits your approval.

Anyway, while your waiting.... how 'bout also waiting to see if Peyton's arm strength actually returns to 100%, since Peyton himself said it has not..... as he stood right next to Irsay at the podium.

Is Jim Irsay a ventriloquist or were you the only one on planet Earth to miss the press conference?

so your basically saying peyton is a big liar to denver and the cardinals and just trying to sneak a contract out of them. If he says he's not done = he can still play

  11. Irsay has hit a FREAKING home run this offseason. The only people who could possibly disagree are people who agree with the Mayans that the world is ending this year. Revolution/rebuilding was inevitable, it just boiled down to how long we wanted to cling to mediocrity before we accepted it. I'm glad he decided right off that mediocrity wasn't acceptable. It'll be a rough year or 2, but bringing in a GM from the Eagles background (I.E. extending contracts long before free agency for core players, building from the trenches out, etc), hiring a coach that will an instill a defensive system all of us have wanted for years (bigger, tougher, more physical players), and getting rid of all our overpaid, aging, declining veterans will pay dividends down the road

how many superbowls did the eagles win?

  12. Irsay's mistake was not firing Polian years ago, when he started messing up the draft and acting like the spoiled dictator he was eventually uncovered as. And allowing the hiring of Caldwell and Chris P.

And this is not hindsight, as those who've been on here since 2005 will know.....

Irsay should be applauded for this last week. Even if it doesn't work out.

do you work for him? sheesh, applaud for failure all you want

    I applaud for right decisions

  13. Alot of them are the same fans who sung the priases of Irsay for firing the Polians then trashed him when they thought Caldwell was staying only to turn around love him again when he did fire Caldwell. Now that he cut Peyton and other fan favorites he's back to being hated.

IE when Irsay does something that they like they love him and he's the smartest owner in football. When he does something they don't like they hate him and he's an *.

I am not going to sit here and promise people all these moves are going to work because I can't at the sametime people can't promise if we didn't do these moves it was going to work too it was pretty clear the 2010 team was on the decline and then when Peyton got hurt the bottom feel out because this team just no longer had enough talent. With that said I do think they had to be made no matter how much it hurts. I stand by my owner though, his TOTAL body of work and that goes beyond this off-season has proven him to be one of the better owners in football. If this doesn't work I am sure he's going to keep trying till he finds something that does work. Losing but turning a profit is never going to be okay with Irsay unlike some other sports owners.

so take his full body of work, then subtract out the manning years. and now you have what type of owner he is.

He didn't make any decisions during mannings tenure except to fire him

but he should've seen his cap was in horrible shape
