  1. We have tried with some stunts but how ever considering with our DC Coyer... You can guess how well they've went... And I still don't think this scheme works with stunts...

Yea. Moving a rush OLB from left side to ride side isn't that hard, but having Mathis or Freeney stunt from one side of the line to other just fails miserably. Not only does it take them way to long to do it, but by the time they even get any pressure the ball has been thrown and they look even more useless. This year they've not really been as effective and this stunting idea is part of it.

  2. But who's going to back up our highly drafted QB? I certainly hope Painter is not the only option we have......Orton could ride 3rd string until Manning retires, then he backs up our yet to be named highly drafted QB.

He pretty much has pointed out he doesn't want to be a backup...He believes he is a starter and on certain teams he's a very capable starter. He doesn't want to be a 2nd or 3rd string QB, so why would he want to come to Indy? His future would consist of holding a clipboard, which he doesn't want to do...

  3. How about we dump both Painter and Orlovsky and pick up Orton? I suppose we should keep one of the hapless duo around for the rest of the season, but beyond that, Orton would probably be okay as a second string or third string (second for Manning, third for Manning/Luck)

Wishful thinking I know, but it does make you wonder.....

No.....If you really do need a reason why we should not get him it's pretty simple. Look at our record. It's a bit late for a move like this...Orton also believe's he is a starter. I doubt he would want to even be here especially when he likely would sit behind manning and if we do draft Luck sit behind Manning and Luck....Why would he want that to happen?

  4. Ahhh, im an ignorant fool! right on bro. If you think i wrote this post based on that i dont "agree" with his articles, then you have missed the entire point of what i have been saying. Im kinda tired of trying to explain what i meant. i guess if you didnt get it when you first read what i wrote, then you're not going to get it. some did, some didnt. thats why we have this forum though. To agree on or debate our opinions.

You don't like the negativity of Bob Kravitz's writing, you believe he's a "cancer" to Indianapolis and doesn't want good things to happen/work out. Those seem to be some of the points and if not then what were they in your original post then?

  5. Sorry if you dont like how i describe your boy. I can see your a fan of Bobs so its cool man. To me a cancer is a person that stirs up unnecessary negativity amongst people. I think Bob does that. If they makes me classless for saying that than so be it.

Let's get a couple of things straight. First off, Kravitz is not 'my boy'. Don't know where you get that idea. Second, I did not say I was a fan of Bob Kravitz. I'm just not going to bash the columnist, because he might write something I might not like. It's very obvious because he isn't writing what you want to see that you don't like him. Like I said before and you seem to not understand is that just because he might write something controversial doesn't make him a negative write or a "cancer" to Indianapolis. Bob doesn't write the best articles, the articles that make everyone happy, but he does give out decent articles every now and then. If he only wrote the happy crud in every article he'd be the most boring thing in this city. He is able to write what people might not want to hear, but need to hear. Is it going to draw criticism? Of course it will. Everyone on this forum probably has a few articles from him they don't like, but he brings a side we should look at if we want to try and get the whole picture. To call him a cancer, just because you don't like him is overall silly. You don't have to like the man at all, but he does give a perspective you might not ever notice if he doesn't present it in his articles. Whether you choose to continue viewing his articles is on you, but bashing him and calling him a "cancer" because you don't agree with his views is just sad.

  6. thanks man, and yes that was a great game to be at. Of course if we had won it would have been mucho better! It wasnt so much the last article Bob wrote that made me decide to write the post. It is just most of his articles in general. i am all about having a guy in indy that "gets the good story." But a good sportswriter could do the same stories but in a classier and more tasteful way. Bob is like a day outta school.................No class! :)

That definitely means something from someone who calls a person a cancer to a city haha. Great judge of what class is by far. Bob definitely isn't the best writer out there and yes he does put up controversial material, but the controversial things he puts up is what some people need to see. Sometimes you have to see the other side to get the full picture.

  7. im still waiting for you to show me where in my post did i say he had brought great harm! i said i think he has done more bad than good for indianapolis. when i was sitting in the stands in new england, getting heckled by their fans about an article that a hometown writer wrote.... that wasnt good for me.... but it was GREAT for the patriot fans! You would think that the day we were gonna play New England, that he might be writing an article about how good peyton is. Not that brady is superior to him. From a national writer...i could totally see it. But from an indy guy?? Cmon. wrong time to write that article. like i said... i think he thrives on being negative.

Ok, so i open up todays paper and see an article by Bob that reads....Best options don't include Manning! well already i dont like the article before i even read it, but i read anyway. Let me say that i have followed Bob and his articles for many years. I have read some really good ones. He has made me laugh numerous times with his use of funny words. You can also tell he is pretty knowledgeable about sports. But to me, the bad he has done for indianapolis has outweighed the good. Todays article states how there is almost no way peyton and luck can exist on the same team....And i agree thats a possibility. But, its also possible that they can. I just get the feeling that Bob ALWAYS wants to be negative. I would bet while talking to Oliver Luck ,Bob was probably saying "you dont want your son to come to Indy , do ya...And have to sit behind Manning for years?" You can tell by his articles that he doesnt WANT good things to happen or workout! His article last week about the polians to me was a retaliation article or something. He didnt list any names of anyone that told him his info. Just that the Polians have ran all the good people out of town. It sounded to me like an article written about someone that he has disliking towards, rather than a factual article. Again, an article full of negativity. I remember going to New England last year for the pats/ colts game. Bob that day had written an article about how much better Brady was than Manning. I didnt agree with the article but whatever. That night in the stands, i had some patriots fans taunting me. The taunt that made me the maddest???.... "Even your Indianapolis sports writer says Brady kills Manning!" That didnt set well with me. I will never forget that. I thought brady looked pretty good that night. Nothing special. Just played it safe and made safe throws. Manning looked like a MACHINE that night! He made some unbelievable throws and was playing with a decimated team and inexperienced receivers. Take away the picks and it wasnt even close! I remember thinking...kravitz, your an *! Even though they picked us at the end and won the game, there was no question in my mind who the best QB on that field was! But im sure Kravitz loved that we lost to vindicate his article. so after again today reading his negative article about how there is no way Manning and Luck can exist together, Im tired of it! im tired of Bob's negativity. I think the "SEWER RAT" fits perfectly! Look, there is nothing wrong with writing factual articles that make people look bad or that are not always positive. But Bob has an agenda towards people! You can tell by reading his stuff that he likes to stick the knife in and rotate the blade. I dont know if he has "little man's" syndrome or what, but i wish he would go write somewhere else. To me he is a cancer for Indianapolis. This is just my opinion and im sure some people will disagree, but i felt like writing down what i have been feeling for a while.

Just going out on a limb, but I think calling someone a cancer for a city falls under the definition of "Harm". Kravitz sadly present a situation we fans will have to see and possibly accept. If you honestly think that is him being negative then you seem to be blind tot he true point. Just because he is a columnist for the Indianapolis Star doesn't mean he should compromise his writing to make biased article. Would you really want him to make corny articles this year trying to say we're not that bad? You really want him to write articles that would show he's about as blind as Caldwell/Polian are this year? You really just seem to just be picking out articles from him you don't like to make it seem like Kravitz is a "negative writer".

  8. What's wrong with investing in Manning until his career his done, but on the side training Luck. Then Manning retires, and invest with Luck. We can compensate both, you know that right?

Agreed. I honestly don't see a problem with investing the 1st pick with Luck and then spending the rest of the picks on what we need to compete for a title now.

  9. How many other teams ever even considered trying it? I am willing to bet there are a number of former greats who could run the Colts system. Montana, Elway, Marino, Farve, Fouts, even today Rogers, Brees, Brady all could I believe.

Of course they could run it, but they all would run it in their own style. Nobody will ever be able to run the offense the way Manning does it, because he does it with his own style. None of these QBs would run the offense the same way. Their own style/twist to it would be noticeable.

  10. What the heck does Chris Carter know. I'm sick of these ex-NFL players acting like they actually know what they're talking about. You were a good football player....but you don't know the first thing about football, that's why so many stars are bad coaches. Mike Singletary comes to mind immediately.

We are slumping right now but Caldwell is NOT a bad head coach. The guy has lead us to multiple division titles and yes Peyton was healthy but a good QB can't take a team far without a good HC. Give this guy another year and we'll be back in the super bowl, and people will be biting their tongues about caldwell.

Pretty sure if he didn't know a the first thing about football he wouldn't have been in the NFL playing football and arguably being one of the greatest wide receivers of all time. If he's not a bad coach, how come he isn't regarded as a good coach? People obviously believe that he isn't that great, manning would still win multiple division titles even if he didn't have caldwell as HC. You must not understand how good Manning is, because he basically is the OC of this team when he's on the field. He bails out the defense at times as well as make everyone around him better. Give caldwell another you and we will very likely hear the same complaints. We might not have the same record next near in comparison to this year, but Caldwell's faults will still be there and still have a very good shot of messing something up in a game. If you still think NFL players don't make good coaches you might wanna check that out again. Last I checked Tony dungy played in the NFL and later coached in the NFL and if I remember correctly he won a super bowl. Call me crazy, but I think Mike Ditka did the same thing as well....guess former players can coach after all..

  11. This.

Why are we not developing our running game this year? We know when Peyton comes back the passing game will be back to form...but for the love of god why we are letting a terrible backup QB throw the ball 40-50 times a game? Develop the run game NOW so when Peyton comes back it will only be better. Another example of our inept coaching staff not having a freakin clue...

Because when you're down 21+ every single game you have no choice but to throw to try and catch up. It isn't rocket science. Opposing team with a big lead = Forced to throw alot more than run, because they're trying to catch up.

  12. When teams are beating you by 10+ points, they'll start to run the ball more to run out the clock. That makes it way harder to get a sack

That combined with freeney being chipped by a TE, then getting by the tackle and having a RB help the tackle block is just asking way to much from freeney. Mathis getting chipped and then running into the tackle don't help him or freeney set up a move to get around. When freeney tried to spin on a play he had nothing to set it up with. There was no power into the tackle then spin to catch off balance. By chipping those two alot you stop their initial burst and making their counter moves hard to be effective when it doesn't catch the tackles off balance.

  13. I'm glad Brown had a good game, he's clearly our fastest back and he still has a chance to make it in this league. But I don't think any running back on any team is behind Donald Brown in pass blocking at this point. He hasn't been riding the pine because he can't run the ball, he's been a consistent liability in pass protection since he came into the league.

Then you must not have looked at his pass blocking this year at all, because compared to when last year he's definitely improved.

  14. Brown is not bad, but Addai is the best, and Carter is better imo.

Carter might be a better runner after contact and better when it comes to power running, but he definitely is behind in pass blocking compared to brown and addai. Not for sure if he's going to be the #1 back in the future, but him and brown together are a nice change in pace. Carter and Addai also don't hit the hole as fast as brown as.
