  1. Bah... DB is the 2nd best back on the team behind Bradshaw (who is a ? ATM) He is an underrated blocker and pass catcher and has good speed, balance, ect... lacks vision, but its hard to see beyond the backs of the O-Lineman being pushed into the backfield every season. Grigs made the right decision, parting ways with Carter, but it would be a mistake to get rid of Brown because a 7th round pick looks good in preseason.... even if he looks really good.

DB might of been the 2nd best back on the team (arguable) last year but he is 3rd or 4th now.  Screw it DB just sux.

  2. With the exception of a dropped pass against the Browns, I think Brown has been our best back in the preseason.

To bad he is not the best back when it counts............not that I believe he has been the best back this pre-season.

  3. Picking the Colts to go 8 - 8 is stupid, IMO.  The weakness in the Colts O is still the offensive line.  Colts still cannot run the ball, but we could not run the ball last year either.  Our D is much stronger and the Colts will not be in the position of having to out score the opponent to win any games.  Our O line will get better as the season progresses.  How good remains to be seen.

How do you know the Colts can not run the ball?  This is a new year, new line, new OC and a new RB.

  4. In what world do the Texans have a better team than we do? Too much talk show radio and TV my friend. Don't let them turn you into a yuppee.

Schuab isn't old for a NFL QB if they are being productive but he isn't young either.  Andre Johnson is starting to get up there in age too especially with the injuries he's had and as we saw with the Colts a couple of years ago it just takes getting old at a couple of spot to have a major impact on the team.  For years the Colts were one of the youngest teams in the NFL because of all the rookies and undrafted free agents they carried to round out the roster while their key parts were getting older so the fact they were one of the younger teams in the league was a bit misleading.

Now with that said Foster is not old and the Texans line is not old and most of their start defensive players are not older.  So I wouldn't call the Texans old.  I think you can say Johnson is old and Schuab is starting to get up there.

The Texans may not be getting old in age but their story "this is the Texans year" sure is old.

  5. It wasn't inflammatory at all lol calm down man and just so you know Ballard and Brown had the same ypc(3.9) last season so by your logic Brown could have had 1000 yards to or more likely would have continued to share carries and they would have had similar yards, neither 1 sniffing 1000 yards...Is Ballard the better Back? Of course but using ypc as a means to prove that is a flaw

Brown could not of had a thousand yards as he was hurt again and again and again.

  6. I don't know why so many Colt fans have such animosity for Donald Brown. I think of DB as very similar to Don McCauley (a Colt running back from the 70's). McCauley was a first round pick that played on very bad Colt teams his first few years and was not very good....but later in the mid 70's playing on the Bert Jones Colts behind Lydell Mitchell, McCauley became a very solid contributor (scored a lots of TD's, didn't fumble much, and could both run and catch the ball). 10 TD's in 75.

I think Brown is the 3rd best back on the team but he plays hard and on a better team with a better  O-line than the last few years he will show that this year and like McCauley I'll be glad we kept him around.

Don McCauley like DB?  Are you serious?

  7. You must not have watched the overtime game in the Tenn.  last year. The whole overtime drive was built around Brown's running(6 carries on that drive) and then Ballard got the glory on the last play......but it was Brown that did the work. Brown isn't always good but he has had his moments and I like that he is playing special teams this year on the kickoffs.

Well maybe he will not be as scared tackling the ball carrier as he is of being tackled.

  8. People bash Brown yet Ballard isn't a home run hitter himself either. Put any top RB behind our terrible offensive line and they'll be a thing of the past. A RB is only as good as his maulers out in front.

Unless your name is Barry Sanders

People do not bash DB because he is not a "home run hitter".  People bash him because he is tackled easily, drops to many balls when open, does not block well, often injured, soft and has no moves once past the LOS.

I saw him turn away from a block this past game.  As contact was about to be made DB turns completely side way to avoid the contact.

I would not be at all surprised if DB does not make this roster.

  9.   We have never been a run-first team with overpowering run blockers up front...

DB has always run with no lead blocker and largely on first down

If they use Brown as a leak-out receiver out of pass protection and give him 10 caries a game, you'll see him be a major factor,,

of course, if he stays healthy

I don't know about DB leaking out unless you are referring to the ball leaking out of his hands.  DB just seems to drop balls in the flat.

  10. This is thread worthy?

It is worthy.  The guy did the same thing in college and was called out on it.  He was not hustling on the play in question....jogging after QB.  I am sure it will show up on film and be addressed.

  11. Always supported Walden.

DHB still not sold on. Most his completions came from short routes and quick hitters. We'll see how he does when he gets corner endzone passes like the one Hilton had and other deeper routes

Anyone can catch a 1-5 yard pass, his hands are questionable when it's medium & deep passes

DHB rarely uses his hands to catch the ball.  He lets the ball get to his body.  Maybe on deeper routes he will use his hands.  I never saw him catch any balls against the Giants with his hands.  Not sure why he jumps when he does not need to.

  12. Yes  I found a article for you that can better explain  .

Damn that sounds good.  I have never had a smoked crab cake but I do love them broiled.  I always find it funny when restaurant menus (non MD) claim they have MD style crab cakes.  Sure you do.

Those steam crabs look familiar.  I miss them.  When I was younger (grew up in Baltimore) the blue crabs were huge.

    Appreciate the link.

Anyone that wants to make a decent MD style crab cake?  At the grocery store Old Bay has a small packet (near the canned Old Bay) that you add to crab meat and mayo.  Pretty darn good.

  13. Yeah, I'm not trying to ruffle feathers of those that fell in love with Williams before he ever put on an NFL uniform, but I just don't see what many said he was. IMO, as far as speed is concerned, it looks to me as if Brown could run circles around this guy without even trying. It's just my observation and I'm not asking others to agree, but those that thought this guy was gonna be "our" Darren Sproles, are going to be highly disappointed. I don't think we'll carry more than 3 RB's along with our FB, so IMO Williams won't make the team. He has done absolutely nothing to prove he's worth keeping over Brown.

Kerwynn does not get tackled by a fingernail touching his shoe string.

  14. I'm so confused by his last 2 games! all throughout training camp coaches and journalists have nothing but praise, but when it comes gameday he folds. Maybe he can't play well under the big lights? his dropped passes have got to be an issue with a lack of focus. That play where he ran down the field and didn't even look for the pass as if he forgot he was even playing football only makes me believe his mind is distracted, by what though?

    Thought of getting hit?

  15. Fleener will be replaced with a 3 receiver if he continues to drop balls and be hurt. Maybe DB can finish a season and not be on the IR since he will be 4 th string............u know those arm tackles hurt.

  16. I'm well aware.....    as I am that practice is a long way from two hand touch....

I'm only offering some perspective which, from time to time, is badly needed when the board goes into a meltdown over this offensive lineman who sucks or that tight end who is under performing and disappointing....

Not everything is the simple black and white of "this guys sucks and that guy is great!"

I hear you.  After getting popped a few times, fumbling and getting concussed a player is more likely to not concentrate on the ball and concentrate more on getting lit up.

In practice vs your teammates catching a ball and looking good is much easier.

  17. What a class act he is. His unselfishness is monumental and it belongs on his hall of fame bust. He could have turned away from the Colts when all we heard was Marvin Harrison instead, he simply played the game an did his job. His answers to cnstnat questions about Manning/Luck are very professional ad does his best to put out that silly fire perpetuated by the stupid media types. His catch yesterday in the Giants game typlified this guy's enormous talent and ability. We are very lucky to have him so from just one fan "THANK YOU"!!!!

Which catch?  I remember a couple of great ones.
