  1. I could say it's a great day to be a Raven but I feel bad for you guys after all the embarrassment we've been through with Rice, and some of our other guys. I'll never understand this stuff when these players have everything going for them playing in the NFL.

It's not a big deal. Landry has only been ok, hopefully his replacement makes the most of his opportunity and steals his job away. Rogers won't really be missed. It's just odd that we're losing 2 (maybe 3?) players to off field issues in one day.

  2. I read that he hit or crossed the yellow line. That might be a little different than" swerving ." Have you ever been on a barren road with a buddy at 3:30 in the morning and went on the yellow line ? Maybe they were laughing about an incident ad he just drifted a bit left. Or maybe he was drunk.. Dunno. I mean he could have been driving with a level of .08 , which in your state , he may have been released if that was the case. I'm guessing Indiana is like CA and is a no tolerance state. Once again, I'm not condoning but if he blew a .08 and had one less sip in your state , he would have been released as no offense was committed .

I'm usually all for liberalization of drug laws and reducing punishments. But 0.08 is too lax IMO. An adult male can pound a six pack and be right around the limit in an hour or two. You can be pretty seriously impaired and be under the limit.

  3. I haven't really looked to see where he ranks, but he gets all the # 1 receivers, and most QB's avoid him. He looked like a possible bust the first couple of seasons, but has really picked it up. We can only hope for the same with safety Matt Elam. He doesn't look so good.

It happens. Sometimes you get that instant impact player, and that's always what you hope for, but more often then not players take a few years to develop.

Safety in particular, it's nice to have the range and athleticism to cover sideline to sideline but it's even more important to have the experience and instincts to be in the right place, to take proper angles, and not get pulled in by the veteran qbs in this league.

  4. Not to be a homer, but you may want to put the Ravens Jimmy Smith in the top five. He's quietly emerged as a great shut down cornerback , and he defended , or held , Crabtree on that critical fourth down pass in Super Bowl 47. Anyway, he's moving up the ranks.

Yes, Smith is another player who's quietly having a very good year.

  5. Yeah, no question he plays man some of the time. But the Seahawks run a lot of zone coverage, and that includes Sherman. That's my only beef with calling him a shutdown corner.

Would "more Rod Woodson than Deion Sanders" be a correct analogy? Far less man responsibilty, no less dangerous in coverage?
