  1. with as many stupid and ridiculous comments that are made on this site, it can be very difficult to determine what is actually stupidity and what is sarcasm. That's why there are emoticons like this guy :sarcasm:. don't use them and you run the risk of people just thinking you're stupid.

in person, sarcasm is much easier to pick up...in written from it's up to the writer to properly communicate it. so it's not so much me not being able to pick up sarcasm, it's more that some people don't know how to properly communicate it in written form.

I'm too lazy to emoticon and was being intentionally obtuse. It's what this thread is for.

  2. Don't understand how people can compare Ballard favorably to Richardson at this point. Both had pretty decent rookie years, but Ballard basically hasn't played since.

In that rookie year they averaged roughly the same ypc (.3 yards in Ballard's favor), they both fumbled three times (Richardson had far more carries), Richardson scored far more touchdowns, and contributed more to the passing game.

Richardson had an awful second year, but looks pretty good this year. Neither back has played much, but Richardson has had a nominally better career. Ballard has promise, but doesn't compare favorably to Richardson by anything but subjective analysis.

  3. It's kind of underplayed but two of your DBs (Butler and Brown) were fairly recently with the Patriots. I wonder if that's going to work in NE's favor, knowing each guy's tendencies, weaknesses, etc.

IDK, Brown has been mostly a special teams guy until recently. Probably not much to know there.

Landry might have some tendencies you guys can exploit by watching the tape. Do missing tackles and taking poor angles count as tendencies?

  4. Trent has improved.......Lets be realistic....It would have been hard for him not to improve over last year.....But he has not significantly improved....Its been a slight improvement....marginal, He don't run behind his pads nearly enough and consistently gets taken down by ankle tackles while he takes WAY to many steps to get to the LOS and he still does this hop step thing before he breaks to get the hand off which infuriates me...Overall improvement but less then serviceable

Herron-Only has had 22 carries the whole season, He is more decisive then Trent and accelerates quicker but has not had many chances do to the fact we have been more focused on jumping on lesser teams and staff just don't seem to favor him (Titans, Giants)....The most likely to be let go

Ballard- Could be let go but I have my doubts given his age and he is the better running back of the two above IF healthy, smoother runner, quicker to the hole, accelerates a bit quicker

Bradshaw could be the one let go but he is the best Back on the team if he remains healthy...Like he has this year

I think we go for a Scat Back type who has great acceleration and who has experience catching the ball from different spots on the field.....Late rounds....5-7

I respect that you're just not sold on Trent. I disagree, but the stats (especially last year) certainly back you up. But how can you be high on Herron? He looks like he has some nice speed, but he hasn't been all that impressive on limited carries in garbage time. When a guy like him could be earning more carries.

I'd like to see Herron in the offense more, but it won't happen while Bradshaw is healthy and Luck is throwing 40 times a game.

Bradshaw and Richardson are both terrific on passing downs as blockers and receivers out of the backfield. No reason to fix what isn't broken.

  5. I was thinking the same thing. He is huge. There is no way he is 225. More like 235-245. He also hits the hole square instead of going through sideways like Brown used to do. Trent has more power than Bradshaw but Bradshaw has more quick twitch and keeps churning which is hard to get a bead on him.

Richardson is a square, there is no going sideways. Lol

He reminds me of Bettis in St. Louis. He needs a wide hole to fit through.

  6. Vontae's only been targeted 20 times? Is that what I'm understanding? Jeez. I was at the game and it's hard to pay attention to everything all at once, but I don't think he was targeted very often at all. The only two that I can recall was a 7 yard slant to some guy I hadn't heard of in the red zone and then the interception. There might have been another completion or incompletion in there. But he was generally pretty good all day.

Against Baltimore, 5 targets, 2 catches, 25 yards and an interception. Another terrific performance on defense by Vontae.

Outside of Luck, is Vontae our best player?
