  1. I choose to look at our colts situation as a possible blessing in disquise. From Collins to the vets to the new guys we just have to play like we mean it. We have pro bowlers on both sides of the ball whom just just need to play as advertised. Agree with dungy we will have to play & win different which is an element of surprise I hope we can take advantage of. I'm all in for the possible upsetting of the critics to NOT making the post season. Who's with me GO COLTS !! PLAY BALL !! :1colts:

  2. Totally agree exodus. We will have to change somethings (the element of suprise to other teams). Our current stars will play harder. The defense & Oline will be FORCED to play harder. Not the same old colts equals new results, hopefully we can take advantage of this . GO COLTS !! :lombardi:

  3. If the Colts do explain why they waited till now, I don't want to hear about the lockout. I don't care you don't just cross your fingers and hope Manning is ready, and then also just hope Painter had improved. Colts should have been more proactive, no excuses.

But Collins is a wise old sage so hopefully he picks up most of the offense in 2 weeks.

Since they made, what looks like a desperation move, I don't think Manning will be ready. I think he will be gone between 1-4 games.

Im oddly optimistic though. I've always been curious about how well the Colts could play with just a decent game manager QB. I think they will surprise people because the average football fan thinks all we have is Manning. That's bull man, Colts are not as well rounded as the early 2000s Pats but the Colts have many weapons.

Colts just need a capable QB if Manning can go, just like any other team needs a decent back up if their stater is hurt.

Can you tell im sick of hearing the Colts are a sub. 500 team without Manning?

    Correction.

Colts are a sub. 500 team with Painter! He isn't ready.

I do believe the colts thought painter would improve, but that didn't happen. Other than that I totally agree ! Getting a quality back up QB should've been addressed long b4 now .

  4. Good post and I agree 100%. I think they were hoping Painter would pan out but he can't take the pressure evidently. I worked at Training Camp and he did well at Camp but game playing is a different thing completely. I think this was a good move and think Collins will help until Peyton can take over. Hope he can at least start in game 1 to keep his streak going. Time will tell. We also need a back up in case something should happen. Hope we don't need him for that but would be nice to have one that is capable.

    YES LORD ! :number1:

  5. "Maybe the Colts really wanted to see if Painter could transfer his practice abilities to the field (because in all three years Painter has been excellent in practice... a quick study, makes all the throws, understand his assignments. He's just like the deer hunter who has a grouping the size of a quarter on the range but gets the shakes when he has a deer in his sights, Painter just cannot handle the situation when bodies are flying around him, thus why I have always compared him to Rob Johnson). Now that he has had the opportunity and did not show the improvement or consistency that Caldwell talks about, the Colts went a different route."The fact is no one knows how things were handled regarding Kerry, so it's impossible for anyone to say it should have been handled differently.

    My thoughts exactly :ref:

  6. He's dirt cheap. He knows the system (producing in it is another subject). He practices well. He has the players on his side. He can teach receivers when Manning is not available. He's done everything asked of him, and he takes a lot of criticism and still shows up for work.

If Manning ( :worthy: ) was injured, and unable to play... our season is over no matter who our backup is. This whole team is designed around Manning ( :worthy: ), and there isn't another one out there. There are other great QB's, but no other Manning ( :worthy: ). If he's hurt, we're playing for fun. So, why not keep around a guy that can do everything except win in a game? Why pay 2 or 3 million to someone else who will come in and lose the game? The teams that have had backups come in and win weren't running the Manning ( :worthy: ) offense. Let's just hope that Manning ( :worthy: ) gets and stays healthy. :beg:

The bow downs thru out the message CLASSIC !

I don't expect painter to be great, definately he's not peyton. I would however like to see a pulse i;e somekind of growth as a qb. I actually would like to see him do well, but I can understand fans frustration. I guess it really "IS WHAT IT IS" No peyton we could careless what happens it's over anyway. I don't like that attitude, even though it is the truth. I would like to see painter get more reps though, maybe that's the plan since davis is gone. :1colts:

  7. I understand where you are coming from totally, however, to be on the fair side of things... painter hasn't really gotten the opportunity to play aside from the preseason... I am NOT by any means a supporter or defender of painter!!! He definitely is NOT our replacement plan for PM when that time comes... I'm just saying that you can't really judge his improvement or decline at this point because the guy rides the bench, he doesn't play... I have told my wife many many times that if anything bad ever happens, we are in serious trouble, but the bottom line really is that the guy has zero experience in the NFL... I wouldn't really say the Colts messed up, though, they drafted him to be a backup, and in college he put up respectable numbers (not amazing, but respectable)... oh well, it is what it is

And this is why he needs more reps in preseason so if he is going to improve we can see it. I'm just sayin

  8. I actually thought thomas had a good nite. Wheeler looks faster & stronger. The defense had a good game in my opinion considering the offense had them in bad positions most of the nite. So far the defense can only get better. :coltslogo:

  9. I want to see painter do well I really do & feel it's time 4 him to do so. Other than that I would like the ballstate kid(was with the 49ers can't think of his name at the moment)he was with us last pre season & did well right ! :1colts::huthut:
