  1. I agree with BucColt -- Luck looks like he was very focused on something and Hasselbeck just sort of came out of nowhere. I think most of us tend to grimace or have some sort of jerky reaction when someone surprises you like that.

Really? haha, ok. I have never had that type of reaction in my life to someone patting me on the chest. If Luck was that jumpy then we would see a lot more crazy plays out of him on the field.

Its pretty obvious that his shoulder was injured. He would absolutely be playing if it was only minor.

  2. You do realize that Cutler had sprained his MCL and it was a doctors decision for him not to go back in that playoff game right? Criticize him or anyone all you want but use facts.

Yes, I do realize that. I never referenced that game specifically bud. Let me put it this way, I believe Andrew Luck is more like Brett Favre than Jay Cutler when it comes to injuries. My point was not to bash Jay Cutler...but to say I think Luck would downplay or even refuse to acknowledge an injury in-game.

  3. I think it looks like his right shoulder...the knee jerk reaction doesnt look good. The fact he went in and played hero ball on it worries me. He seems exactly like the type of guy that would downplay an injury. If that was Cutler, no way he goes back in.

  4. While Grigson has certainly failed with the O Line Schlereth fails to acknowledge 1 thing and give his opinion on another

1.Khaled Holmes 5 starts, Hugh Thornton 21 starts, Mewhort 17 starts, That's 3/5ths of our O Line with less then three years of starting combined experience. As to Herremans, Louis and many of Grigsons other O Line pickups, I agree...horrible

2.He is naming off several things the Colts O Line has done wrong ....which of course he is right much of the time BUT....How about breaking down examples on film and stating what can be done to correct it...I mean he is a form Guard

    3. Luck holds on to the ball too long and our coaching staff hasnt corrected this.

  5. The biased Grigson bashing on this forum gets old. For the forum's education...

Nearly all of Grigsons signings were good signings. They were intended to be stop gap players who could play the positions needed WHILE TRANSITIONING from a Tampa 2 defense to a fatty 34 defense WHICH IS WHAT THE OWNER OF THE TEAM COMMANDED HIS GM TO TRANSITION TO. The only truly bad signing was Landry.

Also, transitioning (at least attempting to) from a QB centric offense to power running play-action offense, was commanded by the owner...who I'm sure was on board with the TRich trade..a RB that everyone thought was stifled by a poor Cleveland passing game. We have yet to see the PA offense (see many threads)

ALL of the stop gap players were meant to be replaced by draft picks either at the end of their contracts or during their contracts. The possibility of being replaced during their contracts is why the contracts were written with little cap hit when the player was cut. And which vet gets replaced by a pick depends on who's availabkle in the draft at the time. For example, the #3 WR of Avery/Nicks was eventually replaced by draft pick Moncrief or Dorsett (with the other replacing the aging Wayne/AJ).

Walden, Landry, Cherilous, and Thomas were signed with the intention of being more than a stop-gap-towards-full-transition player. Landry was the only really bad signing. Cherilous was a good player. Thomas had the resume of a good player. Walden IS a good player and has earned his pay.

In Grigson's 3 plus years, the only bad signing was Landry..when he was signed, he wasn't meant to be replaced at some point but had to be replaced due to poor play and suspension. The ONLY player who was overdrafted was Werner.

RJF, Chap, and Hughes were cut this offseason...no doubt related to the changeover to a quicker 34 DL philosophy instead of the fatty 34 philosophy Irsay told Grigson to initially build.

One bad signing and one overdrafted player in over three years. I say give the guy a bonus.

I completely agree that the Grigson bashing is getting ridiculous. However, i think youre being pretty generous to say that Landry was his only bad move. The Fleener pick was horrible with so many good o lineman on the board. DHB pickup was a waste of targets, already saw his skills on display in Oakland. T-Rich trade had so many red flags. I was never excited about a no.3 draft pick that a team gives up on after one year. I could go on but the fact is that we're not where we should be in year 4. Luck has taken a beating the last few years and we missed out on some prime cap flexibility.

I think a lot of our problems fall mostly on our coaching staff but Grigson does deserve a lil blame. Grigson overall has been successful in the draft, but his free agent pickups are meh. Big problem is that our HC & OC are not going to push Luck to greatness. It feels like Peyton all over again, where its the qbs team and all the pressure is on him. I wish we had a big personality/veteran mind as the coach to take that burden.

  6. I don't know what Dustin was referring too, but I knew the difference in the years which is why I said "about". In 2012, Grigs signed McGoo as a short term answer to G when he needed one and the team had cap problems. He signed DT as a long term solution in 2013.

If he just would have drafted a long term G with the first pick of the third round (a great place to draft a G) in 2012 instead of a second TE and messing around with aging overpriced vets, the Oline would likely not be an issue now since we could have Reitz and JM playing the other G or RT.

The drafting of Allen instead of a G is turning out to be the worst decision of all.

So if people want to fire Grigson for his personnel decisions, at least get the reason correct.

My opinion at the time and to this day is that Grigsons worst pick was his 2nd (Fleener). We had the opportunity to nab Cordy Glenn, but we passed on him and other talented lineman to get Lucks Stanford bud. Fleener would have probably went in the 3rd had we not taken him, and even that would be too high.

I personally loved the Allen pick but he has not panned out like i thought he would. Injuries are hard to predict.

  7. Get rid of both of them, please. I've never been sold on Pagano and Grigs has made too many blunders. Hiring Pep Hamilton. Wasting early picks on Fleener, Werner, T-Rich when those could have been used for o-line. His off season pickups this last summer sucked, couldn't believe people were excited about over the hill guys like Gore and AJ. I was happy we cut bait with Wayne and then we go pick up those two old farts? I just think whatever vision he had for this team will not get us where we need to go.

Andrew really needs a strong, veteran football mind to help mold him into what he's capable of being. I thought Arians would've been great for his development. I don't buy into people saying that Luck would be in a wheelchair with him as HC. Lucks a big guy and a big part of what makes him (and Big Ben, Farve) great is his ability to hang in the pocket and absorb hits.

On a positive note, I do have faith in Irsay to go out and buy whoever he needs to buy. I think wed be in a great position to offer a big name control of both HC and GM responsibilities. That'd be hard to turn down couples with a franchise QB like Luck.

  8. Eh this one is hard to predict. I just have this feeling that Ivory is gonna run all over us and their D will force us into a bunch of 3 and outs.

Optimistically, Ill say homefield adv will help Colts to squeak by with a 24-17 OT win. Jets go up early, and then Andy does one of his 4th qtr comebacks.

  9. I never understood the concept od 'wasting carries'.

You try him....if he cant do much..you move on.....

Nobody 'deserves' a spot on our roster.... ....but we're a playoff team and the less rookies playing prominent roles the better it is for this season

You really don't understand the concept of "wasting carries"? Did you not watch any colts games the last two years with Trent Richardson?

  10. Every team picks up "castoffs" it is not just a Grigson thing. Every team has needs during the season, and see enough potential in players to bring them in as see what they have. I don't get why you think this is a terrible decision as it is so low risk. Worst case scenario is we cut a player to bring him in, and if he doesn't work out then chances are the player we cut will be available to bring back. However, if he comes in and plays well for us then we found an upgrade from someone's "castoffs."

Never said this was a terrible decision, but I do question it. Worst case scenario, we waste carries on Ball. From what I saw in Denver he doesn't deserve a spot on our roster. I'd rather give that spot to a stud like Bradshae, even if he'd only be good for a few games.

  12. Dude what are you talking about!

I'm talking about these pickups of guys that are washed up and/or nobody else wants. I've liked his drafting except for the fact he can't get Luck some help at the rb position. We've seen what Ball is...and from my eyes he seems to be a product of the Wisconsin system.

  13. That does sound fun!

FYI, that dumb guy in your avatar isn't wearing knee pads. He never did.

Plus, it's illegal to not wear knee or thigh pads, since 2013, so TY was wearing them.

FYI, I never said that he did. I did not know it was made illegal though...but that just helps reaffirm my point. I'm sure the nfl didn't put that rule in place just for the heck of it.

  14. Apparently NFL players don't agree. They almost never wear them, especially at WR

I understand that, but it seems ridiculous with the technology we have today to not want to protect yourself as much as possible. It's funny because it seems like NBA players are moving towards more padding (look at Lebron) and NFL players are wearing less. It makes no sense why you would not want a little extra protection for such a physical sport.

Pads do help against bruising and I don't see how anyone can argue that. For fun sake, put a foam pad on your knee and slam a helmet on it. Now try it without the pad and tell me which hurt less.

  15. News Flash! For anybody that has played football we all know those little knee pads don't do much of anything.

It's like wearing paper over your knees expecting protection that will never happen.

Speak for yourself. I started wr 3 years in hs and felt they definitely helped lessen the impact of a hit. I'm sure I would've had plenty more knicks/cuts/bruises on my knees without em.
