  1. No that's different too. Every team is different because as good as Brady is the Pats aren't built around him. They are built around their head coach if that makes sense. Also, people tend to completely under rate Brady's defense at the time. Those guys were very good and were even better in big games. I am not going to say Brady had nothing to do with it because that wouldn't be fair to Brady, after all Drew Beldsoe had the same team and was struggling there till they called on Brady. I am not calling Brady a system QB but I think he's the picture perfect QB for BB's system. I think Brady would be good any place he went but he excils in New England because he fits that system to the T but he isn't the system like Manning is here if that makes sense. Again that isn't discrediting Brady in anyway and I hope mostly the Pats fans don't take it that way. It's just a different set up.

Frankly the closet I think you can compare this to in recent history is when Dan Marino got hurt in Miami. He got hurt five games into the 1993 season when Scott Mitchel and Steve DeBurg came in and played QB and played pretty well. They lead them to a 9-7 record but Miami was already 4-1 when Marino went out so they went 5-6 the rest of the way without Marino. It was very respectable since they didn't have the guy their team was built around but still clearly wasn't what they could be with that guy.

I see where you're coming from. I'm hoping we get the better end of this crappy hand dealt to us. And thank you for your non volatile response. This place hasn't been the friendliest the past few days.

  2. I am so tired of people trying to say look at the Steelers and what they did with Big Ben last year and trying to say that is what the Colts should do this year, they are different situations. For starters the Colts and Steelers are not built the same way. I would agree with you that Peyton Manning is not our only good player but the team IS built around Manning. The Steelers are NOT built around Big Ben. They are built around their defense and running game and Big Ben is a very nice compliment to those peaces. When the Steelers lost the guy their defense is built around, Troy Polamalu they struggled a lot, that situation would be closer to what the Colts are facing without Manning. Losing Big Ben to Steelers is like when the Colts lost Marvin Harrison, it hurts but it's something the team can over come. Next thing Big Ben is NOT Peyton Manning and is not going to go down as one of the greatest QBs of all-time like Manning is. Yes Big Ben is very good but he is in that group below Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Brady, and I would even throw Rivers in there as the true elite QBs in the NFL right now. He gets thrown into that group because he's been on a team that won two Super Bowls but most people would tell you their Defense had more to do with them winning those Super Bowls than Ben did and even Big Ben has admited the Steelers won their first one inspite of him. So no what the Colts are facing now without Manning is not the same as what the Steelers faced last year without Big Ben.

With that said no Manning is not our only good player. I think you are going to see a team that is going to rally around that. They are going to be tired of being told how much they stink wthout Manning and how they have no chance and the Colts are going to give the Texans more of a game than many fans think they are going to give them on Sunday. I don't know if it'll be enough to win the game but it wouldn't shock me if it was. I'll hold back my opinion on what is going to happen from there till I see what we look like without Manning on Sunday.

Would you compare the situation more so to when Brady was out after this knee problems?

  3. I find the whole premise of "throwing the season" to be utterly nauseating. Do the people that hold that opinion think that to do so wouldn't damage and/or destroy the team spirit for years to follow? You work hard to fight to overcome and win - not to shamefully lay down.

With our without Peyton, I expect the Colts to bring what ever they're made of to the stadium every week and give it their all.

Probably would be good if the fans did so too... just sayin'

^^^^^^^ This. I'd like to add can we please wait maybe 2 + weeks before everyone starts saying that Peyton is done for the year? I have some happy pills if you need them.

  4. just promise me this, if the colts do in fact appear to suck without Manning, don't whine about it. Manning is Manning, don't throw your pom pond in the air saying we are better then so many teams in the NFL without Manning. I hope that Collins turns out good and that we kick *, but if Mannings completely out for the season, we are most likely in for some turbulence.

If the colts suck this season life still goes on, im sure like everyone here my life does not revolve around football. Of course the colts will miss manning but they will still be a successful team.

Agreed Smitto. And to everyone else promise to stop posting unconfirmed "stories" about Peytons condition without checking and/or caring if there's official confirmation from the Colts organization. Every link from blogs, radio shows, podcasts isn't actually true and its scary how many people immediately accepted this article. I really hope we don't lose week 1 bc the entire "sky is falling" crew will be super active.

  5. Unlike some, I'm not crowning the Texans with anything anytime soon. I like cold hard facts, which in this case would be playing actual regular season football games without blowing themselves up towards the middle/end of the season. There is no denying history, and for some that say history doesn't matter in football I don't get it? We can't just ignore the 9 year history of this team. It's the same story year end and year out, sure everyone is freaking that Pmoney is hurt and he's never ever coming back in the history of everdom, but the fact still remains that the Texans have sucked in past seasons and there is a chance they will suck again. Chalking it up to "oh well its a new year you can't guess anything" makes no sense to me. The same argument goes for teams with great records every year. If you say the Patriots will do great this year because they've consistently done great year in and year out, then why can't we say that the Texans will suck because they've consistently sucked? And yes I understand all the changes they've made on defense with Wade, and Schuab is great and blah blah blah. BUT lets not give them the crown yet, and I agree the Texans do have most of the pressure because its been said for the past few years that its FINALLY their year. Ask yourself this, why be confident in a team finally winning their division, if the only reason you're saying they will win their division is not because they're a team to be reckoned with, but because everyone sucks more than they do? Thats an awkward appreciation by default.

  6. Well this is awkward.... I don't have enough Valium to pass around. Can everyone stop jumping on freak out/ the world is ending train? Since when did some radio host say something about this "sources" and not be seriously questioned? Honestly I wouldn't have bothered posting this thread until the official word came out. Which it did, saying this source was garbage. Lets play some games first before we all declare this a lost cause and move to Canada or something.

  7. I think some Colts fans are giving them credit, there is a difference between giving someone credit and bending over back wards to hand them the division title like you are doing. I mean I read your posts and it's like why even bother and show up Sunday we've already lost. I don't think all Colts fans feel that way. They think this team has a chance, nothing wrong with that. Just a difference of opinion.

The Texans have made some very nice moves and clearly the division is right there for the taking and yes they are the favorites going in but you know what it was right there for the taking last year and they didn't get the job done. Till they do people are going to question them just like they questioned us in the playoffs till we won a Super Bowl, heck we still get questioned in the playoffs even with that because of our track record.

^^^^^^ What you said. I'm one of those people that prefers not to talk about expectations of who's gonna win this and that til I'm blue in the face. Let's see where the Texans are around week 6 once they pull out their pistols and aim at each others feet. And BlueShoe just because he doesn't agree with you doesn't make him a bias fan. I may even go as far to say that his "objective view" is telling him that the Texans will fall flat on their face aka the same ole Texans, such as your "objective view" is telling you that the Texans will finally break free. To each his own.

  8. I wish I got paid to puke up year after year of inaccurate predictions based on favoritism, bias, and guessing what players will do. They say one thing: such and such will have a GREAT game bc he's apart of the popular storyline this week and bc someone told me to say this. THIS GUY IS ON FIRE! Cut to next week after said player/team loses: Oh well this person doesn't have what It takes to get it done. NEXT! It took me awhile but everything that comes out of any talking heads mouth are lies in a pretty bow. Good or bad. We know NOTHING about anything until the season starts and teams actually play!!!!!!!! Even then I still wouldn't care what any of them had to say

  9. Chill out. We haven't even gotten through week 1 yet and you got us only winning three games? What? I don't know how many times people can say this but: CALM DOWN. Lets make it to week 2 and see how everyone is doing then. AFTER we've played a real team in a real game and lets see how our players perform. Let's see where Peyton is in two weeks or so. You act like Peyton plays every position on the field, he doesn't btw. Like every talking head that talks talks talks until they're blue in the face about predictions and what this person can do and what problems they had last season and blah blah blah blah blah and expectations and strength of division blah blah blah. Plus how exactly are you predicting we lose these games? How would you know being that we haven't even played a regular season game yet? How would we know our REAL weaknesses and strengths THIS SEASON if we haven't even played yet? Take a Valium and start this train again in a few weeks.

  10. For people saying that if Manning isn't back in a few weeks that we should give up, I say to you STOP BEING A QUITTER. I want Manning to play week one just as much as every colts fan here BUT neck injuries are no joke. I'd rather him come back in week 2.. 3.. or beyond 100% healthy. If P money came back less than 100% before he is ready and gets hit the wrong way then his career would be in jeopardy down the line. We have no idea how Collins will plug into the system, alot of players are back healthy and ready to play. Lets see if they can plug in and get the job done. Stop being so doom and gloom all the dayum time! It isn't the end of the world, its not like this was happening at the end of the season with playoffs and the division on the line.

  11. Other teams have a run game, evans avg 1.9 yds in the bengals game it wasnt his fault it was the Olines fault... brown has plenty of passion for the game but it dont matter how big of a back or fast you are you will not succeed behind a performance the line put up last night.

People aren't just looking at this years preseason games when it comes to Brown. They're looking at his entire career so far playing for the Colts. It isn't that pretty. If Addai can do ok and if Carter can turn some heads his way so far then why make excuses for Brown? We can't always blame the Oline, sure they can do better but if everyone wasn't putting up numbers then you could claim that. I think Brown is in the same boat as Gonzo. One more year to show something then it's time to go.

  12. Day off today, watching the experts on ESPN. 6 or 7 win team this year. Manning not even top 5 QB, regardless of health. (they had Rothlisbereger, Rogers, Rivers, Brady, and Brees) Texans win division (same as last 4 yrs). No team has any fear when we get off the bus, etc. Outside PM, rest of team is junk. Granted in general as PM goes, we go, but we do have some other play makers and have to have players to throw to. That said, couple also said the Pats were a 7-8 win team this year, Brady is breaking down, etc. SB already conceded to the Chargers/Jets and Pack /Falcons. We may struggle early, but would love to us at at 8-0 and everyone breaking their legs getting on the wagon.

Wow what dum dum said this? We go through this every year when there is a different team winning the SB. Had to put up with the Brees love after their SB win then the awkward silence from the talking heads after going one and done against a below .500 team. I've learnt to never take these * seriously even if they are saying nice things about us. Because when it comes down to it, they just like us... fans with opinions the only difference is some of them have played football but they just so happen to be on tv. Doesn't make their word gold. We know it they know it. As to who i think does ok this year, I say most of the usual suspects from last years playoffs with some fresh teams trying to fight their way in. I'm just ready for some football!

  13. Brown just doesn't have that passion or smash mouth running that I'm so used to seeing on other teams. I know not every Offensive is the same but he's had a few seasons to prove his worth. I wanna see what he does a couple games into this season, and if nothing happens he needs to go. That Carter guy is something special. The kid runs like he's ticked and his hair is on fire. Evans looked pretty good too.

  14. You keep him

...A. Gonzalez cant play right now and Austin Collie is one hit from being out for good..

    Of course you keep him..

Why is everyone all of a sudden saying Collie is injury prone? He had half a year ONCE that he suffered some pretty nasty concussions. He isn't even close to being Sanders breakable or even Gonzo breakable. I don't get it?

  15. I didn't even read what you said, I simply saw your avatar was QOTSA first album. I love you.

Bumping into another QOTSA fan is like seeing a leprechaun. We must compare!

I would guess an 12-4 or 11-5 with Manning suiting up from the first game. I will assume he has a few rusty games unless he has been practicing in secret with his team away from reporters during this time. If Manning misses the first game or two and then comes back to play, you can assume we lose the first 2 and then possibly the first 2 of 4 until the rust comes off Manning. And then you would have to assume even if the worst of this scenario comes true, we are going to lose a game or 2 the rest of the season, we have a tough schedule to get through.

The Texans are no slouch either and I believe this is the year they put it together and give us a run. I think San Diego regresses and does not make it to the playoffs or at least deep into the playoffs. The Texas are the only team in our division that even remotely has a chance to knock this team out of the title (div) this year as Jax and Ten are just a mess. Winning the division is huge this season to win in light of our ailing QB but I just have the feeling, with the SB at LOS this year, no way we make it to the big dance, too much money to be lost.

My predictions- Green Bay or Detroit vs pats or Jets

You truly believe in your heart of hears that the lions will make it to the superbowl? A team that hasn't been to the playoffs let alone had a winning season in god knows how long. I get it I really do... I live in ga, followed Stafford basically his entire college career.. the kid has promise when he's not being smashed into the ground and breaking something. But really? The lions? They're gonna make it past the Eagles, Cowboys, Saints, Giants, Tampa, Bears,Falcons, I could keep going. Please don't take this as an attack or insult but yeah.... No

  16. As a Georgia girl, and the Falcons being my #2 team (behind the colts of course) I hope they can wrap it up on the NFC side. BUT we're all still looking for Matty Ice to get over this no win playoff slump, plus I think their defense definitely needs some work. They have to get past a number of great teams on the NFC side.. Packers,Saints, Tampa(who I think will surprise everyone this year again) plus some other teams. They are a great team though and the Falcons will only get better with more time together. As for the Chargers BARF! I think they'll do great as usual but still manage to fall short again this year (they have worry about the Chiefs now)
