  1. Exactly if Garcon doesn't break two long passes I don't think people would have been that impressed with Painter tonight. Both of those TDs had more to do with what Garcon did with the ball after he caught it than it did with Painter. He had two real drives tonight one for a FG and the other was a missed FG. Other than the quick plays he did next to nothing the rest of the night. With that said he's still giving us more than what Collins is at this point. I think Painter can grow into the job for the rest of the season. He's reps too just like any other player who hasn't played much.

    ^This

don't go crazy now. 13 for 30, remember.

I know. I'm impressed with the situation and what he was able to squeeze out of of this. Its an improvement over the last three weeks at QB. I did say I'm trying to take some positive out of this overall big negative.

  2. I never thought I'd EVER say this, but Painter impressed me. The team was competitive and this week the offense for once kept us in the game. Not our defense though...... got some things to correct for sure on defense and producing more on running game. At 0-4 the only thing I can do right now is to take some positive out of this big negative.

  3. Why does the NFL honor this? Seems kinda strange considering the primary, and overwhelming, demographic of NFL fans are men. Is this a shallow attempt at grabbing more female fans through empathy marketing? Why not raise awareness of cancer in general? Why the narrowed focus? Because they want more women. More women = more fans. More fans = more money. How mighty generous of them.

    Touche sir

  4. Running the ball will be key. People that say oh well the Texans have Wade now and he's a beast. But lets not forget that with this lockout everything has been compressed into a small window. It was already hard enough for teams that have lots of rookies or free agents to learn their playbook let alone changing defensive coordinators and changing the scheme at the same time. Collins,Clark, Addai,Carter, the O line, our defense, and whatever WR that gets open bc of Reggie's probable double team will all be key.

  5. I'm a man of odds and odds are in my favor. There is no grey area, there is only black or white. Hope this helps to explain it for ya.

I totally get that I may disagree but I see where you're coming from. My issue was not with what you were saying it was how you were saying it to that person and what you were saying about them just bc they disagreed with you. Other than that we're all good. I'll move on now. Good day to your sir!

  6. For the 2nd or 3rd maybe even millionth time, being a "fan" does not mean you think your team can win. Anyone who lives in Cincinnati and thinks the Bengals are going all the way is a complete *. Are there still fans in Cinny? Sure. Do they think they have a shot? Probably not. I'm a realist. I'm also a Chicago White Sox fan, follow them every season until they fall apart (which has been early as of late) After they have no hope of carrying on to the post season I give up, better luck next year.

gagirl89 - Reality is right now. Reality is we are playing without Peyton Manning and reality is this team has been relying on him for the past 10+ years. If you think everything is fine and dandy you are avoiding the reality that it is not. Anyone who read my post could easily decipher that reality was to be taken in context about the loss of the best player in the NFL. To even think for a second that the colts are not in trouble is lunacy.

Coltslover4ever - The rest of us being the ones who have accepted that this season is going to suck. My mentality isn't "loser" It's winner since I'm the one who's going to be right ;)

wordofmouth - Sounds like a plan.

Bleedthisblue - Oh thank you for your insightful post, please bless us with more of this intelligence!

You're proving my point. As of right now the season hasn't been played yet. And I do acknowledge that this season could very well blow up week 1 and continue to slide down hill. Or it couldn't The difference is: I'm not trying (and failing) to make people feel bad just because they are hopeful and/or view something differently than me. You aren't a psychic, I find it weird that you're basically telling people this will happen no matter what you say but why doesn't that go both ways? I think the point we're trying to make is: Wait until results come before declaring the sky is falling. BUT if you don't want to wait, don't attack others for being optimistic. It seems foolish that you're that determined to be right about us having an awful season. We're all adults here (I would hope) Good luck

  7. I'm a colts fan and I'm writing off the colts for this season. Just because I've accepted a reality of a mediocre season and a less than 1% chance we make the superbowl. No one is bandwagoning for writing off Collins. Collins is like the hamburger and Peyton is the filet mignon. He deserves to be written off. It's easy to tell your in denial about the season, the rest of us have come to accept reality.

Reality is the state of things as they actually exist, rather than as they may appear or might be imagined.Reality includes everything that is and has been. Its safe to say that being optimistic and being "realistic" as you put it are both in fact not reality because its not something that is yet. Being that we haven't played week 1. No one is wrong no one is right , don't try to make someone look foolish because you don't agree. It works against you.

Haven't seen much of him, I only watched half of the Packers game, and a little bit of the Bengals game. Besides I would rather see him in a real game to make a judgement. Heck Painter looked good in the Packers game, preseason isn't the same.

Fair enough. I liked what I saw out of Carter though. As for Painter 64no.gif

  8. Why anyone is thinking about next years draft before the season starts is beyond me. I'm excited just to have football!

I only get up to Indy for two games each year. I'll be there in my Colts gear and cheering no matter who is playing QB or what our record is.

I think there are a lot more fans like me than those who would even consider the suck for luck strategy.

    Amen!

  9. Fantasy is completely unimportant to me, as a Jet, why would he want to route for anyone on the rival team for some imaginary game.

He has a very valid point.

Because fantasy isn't really cheering for rivals - its just a strategy game to figure who will score the most points and starting them IMO

^Agreed. Currently I have Phillip Rivers as my #1 QB Flacco # 2. Everytime I hear anyone mention the Chargers and/or Ravens my gag reflex acts up. Some people are able to look past rivalry, some ppl avoid drafting rivals all togther, and some just don't play FF. Either way its all good. And if any of my rivals or non rivals on my FF are playing against my teams (Colts,Falcons) of course I don't cheer for them.

  10. Ahh, I didn't know he was trolling. I don't get why they do that. Do they think they're funny? They're not. Neither cleaver or even satirical. Just a little annoying, like a gnat near your ear.

Agreed. And they're the reason everyone had to go through the 3 post per day thing. Super annoying

  11. Dallas Clark stands to be our greatest weapon this season. To avoid picking him for your draft is ignorant beyond reason. He will amass great stats throughout the year. Collins is going to lean on our TE's heavily, I guarantee this.

I jumped with joy when I someone managed to draft him on my fantasy team. He's my money maker for sure.

I saw on ESPN where Irsay tweeted Peyton will be out for "awhile". Looks like at least a few weeks at minimum.

    Where?

  12. Um, this thread is incorrect. Collie particiapted fully on Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday. Gonzo practiced on a limited basis and depending on how the rest of this week goes, he could be playing on Sunday as well.

    /Thread

^This. I really wish people would stop making threads posting unconfirmed links from a guy that said his cousins sister in law grandfathers nieces son, said that so and so are so and so.

  13. Defense wise- If we can smother their run game, that only helps us. If Schaub is forced to throw more times than their comfortable with, I could see more mistakes happening. That could also be said for Collins on the Texans D side. We can't let them get any big plays and gain momentum. I'm a lil worried about our secondary but we'll see how they hold up this first game before the sky falls. On offense I'm looking at everyone! They all need to step up, especially Collins. My eye is especially on Collie,Clark,Tamme, and Addai and Carter. I'm sure Wayne will be covered like a hawk, so that will free up somebody. I'm hoping Garcon has glue on his gloves, he's getting a reputation of having slippery hands. But my eye will especially be on Addai and Carter. I just have this feeling good things are coming from that Carter kid, I truly think he'll surprise ppl that say the Colts can't run, he's not like any of our other RB. I really think we have a shot.
