Not given up on the Colts. They still control their destiny. They just need to get healthy-er.

Injuries have little to do with giving up 42pts in a half.  Blaming this debacle on injuries is about the same as blaming global warming on babies farting.

This is about players either underachieving or being not very good and coaches getting out coached.

  2. DQ is average at best Jerrell Freeman can tackle and cover better than him at this point and with this ILB class of young thumpers i would cut ties.

For the money we gave him tell me one stat that he helped significantly upgrade. Our defense was basically the same before we even signed him. I say go get a young stud

I mean he was sixth in the entire NFL in tackles.

140 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 FF fumble, 4 Fumble recoveries, and 1 TD.

You want to get rid of him because he is average?  He isnt JJ Watt but get out of her man.

You should submit your resume to all 32 teams as a possible GM candidate, don't forget to include you have a bleacher report app on your resume.

  3. Greg Toler-we save 5.5million

    Dwqell Jackson-we save 5million

    Donald Thomas-we save 3.25million

    Erik Walden-we save 3.75 million

If you are going to cut guys, especially ones that made a pro bowl (laugh all you want).  You need to have an idea on who you are going to get to replace them.  Who do you think we are going to get to replace these guys?   Are we going to get every free agent target we want for the money we have to spend?

I am so glad the posters on forums aren't real front office folks.

  4. The Colts have better WR group under contract now than either of the two teams in last years SB.  There are more pressing matters.

    1 - TY

    2 - Moncrief

    3 - Wayne

    4 - Carter

    5 - Whalen

Maybe re-sign Nicks, I would be ok with that.  No need for a big splash.  Spend that $$ on defense.

  5. We are a product of a weak division and lucked out with two depleted teams this playoffs. If we faced Balt or Pitt in the wildcard probably would have gotten scraped. Remember we beat SF DEN SEA last year before losing Reggie/Bradshaw as well as no Allen then we lost our way. This year we beat everyone who we were supposed to and got smoked by all the real teams. In my opinion we regressed.

Oh you mean the Baltimore team we beat earlier in the year?  yeah we had no shot if we faced them.

  6. Chuck Pagano is in his 50s. I don't know what more he'll learn. If he wants to take a sabbatical and go learn how to coach in college, lets not stop him from doing that though.

    Hire Josh McDaniels

He sure lit it up at Denver.  I mean in two years he won the same number of games as Pagano did his rookie year with Indy.

That .393 win pct sure makes me think he is the next Belichick.

  7. This forum is so funny at times, I wonder how many folks even remember what it was like to be a Colts fan before 1998. I sure as heck do.  It wasn't much fun being awful nearly every year.

How about we take a step back and be thankful we are in the position we are in instead of criticizing everyone in our organization.  It is really old watching people who in most cases have never even played football outside of High School at best think they can do a better job that those who do it for a living.  Its comical really.  Grigson gets bashed all the time but he sure put a lot of talent on the roster awful quickly.  Sure there are holes, some big ones, but you cant go from a complete blow up of an organization to the SB overnight.  It takes time.  If its another couple years and we are still getting smashed by NE then fine, but how about we pump the brakes for now.

  8. How are people really saying Wilson has no blame on throwing that ball?  Sure it was a bad play call but that doesnt mean you cant throw it away when you see the DB charging to cut it off.  It was clear as day, the dude was eyeing the ball the second Wilson let it go.  You cant throw into traffic at the end of the SB 2 yds from winning the game.

Throw the ball away, fight to live another day.  It was an awful pass, throw it to the guys back shoulder so if he cant get it, no one can.  Sure its easy to play Monday morning QB, but that was a terrible pass.

If that was Peyton who had thrown that he would have been crushed by the media even more than when losing to Indy.

Considering Roger was at Robert Krafts house the night before the AFC CG determines he is a puppet lol.  That pic was hush hush, now the media can focus on how great the Pats are with their 4 SB's now it's in the books.  Let's just forget the Patriots cheated  ;)

So what?  The allegedly cheated, still have to prove it.  I hate that deflate gate was against Indy.  We got spanked, no excuses necessary. Maybe Baltimore has gripe, not Indy.

  9. I'm sorry the people who think Grigson is doing a bad job or want him fired just don't understand NFL football.

You think Seattle's D was built in three years from scratch?  They certainly drafted guys who have been excellent but the LOB was mostly there before Wilson.

Coaches and GM's dont go from the #1 pick to the AFC Championship game if they are awful. Do some of you realize what this team was when he took over?  Talk about Monday morning quarterbacks that have no clue how to scout players or deal with the salary cap ramifications.

The both talked Wayne into staying instead of going to NE, they signed Davis, they drafted Luck, Fleener, Allen, TY, Ballard, Mewhort, Newsome, Moncrief, plus guys like Freeman from the CFL and undrafted guys producing.  The 2013 draft proved to be not quite as good as the other two but we still got some prodcutive players.

Really he has missed on Landry, Richardson, and Werner.  That is not too shabby imo.

  10. Well to this point they are right, the only way to change perception is for the team to win tonight.  Just like everyone talking about the Big Ten being awful in bowl games, you need to prove it on the field.

If Indy wins tonight they show what they are made of.  If they get smoked we will hear this another year.

  11. I hope we hire him as a QB coach or something along those lines.

Why?  I think Clyde did ok with Peyton as the OC and seems to be doing ok with Andrew as the QB coach.

There are very few all time greats who make good coaches, Larry Bird and ????  Not many.

  12. Peyton was better off the field that he was on it.  All time great QB and the best ever off it.  He has left and will continue to leave a legacy of excellence as a human being.

Sad to see him go down hill so quickly, but age is undefeated.  I hope he either can come back full strength or will just leave gracefully and not hang on too long.

  13. I won't go through position by position either but I will go by groups.

    QB - Advantage Denver

    RBs - Advantage Denver

WRs - Advantage Denver (If Wayne were his old self this would be different and I'd take TY over any of them but I don't think the Colts can compare to DT, Sanders and Welker)

TE - Advantage Colts - JT is better than Fleener or Allen but JT/Tamme combo is not as good as the Fleener/Allen combo

Oline - Push (Denver probably has a slight advantage but they have not been playing well the past 5 or 6 weeks)

    Dline - Advantage Colts

    LBers - Advantage Denver

    CBs - Advantage Colts

    Safeties - Advantage Denver

    K- Colts

    P- Colts

Returner - Push. (I'm not as high on Cribbs as many on this forum)

    To Ratio

    Broncos +5

    Colts -5  Advantage Broncos.

You would really take TY over Demariyus Thomas?  I think you would be in the minority.

Denver player for player has a MUCH better and deeper roster.

Even at the positions where the Colts are good the Broncos are at least as good.

With that being said, Denver also had a better roster than the Bengals and Cinci won.  I dont think the Colts have no shot, I think they have a good shot.

A team is more than the sum of its parts.

  14. He won't come back, even if we want him.

He wants to be the #1 and he want's to get paid, he's falling down the depth chart.

Who is going to sign him to #1 money?  We got him cheap because he was not playing like a #1, nothing he did this year would say he was a #1.  I don't know if he will be back here or not, I would love to have him depending on cost. He will not get #1 money, zero chance of that.

  15. Look what happened when the 49ers replaced Mike Singletary with Jim Harbaugh. In 5 to 10 years, Singletary may have become a good coach. In 5 - 10 years, the Colts coaching staff may become very good, too. No fans may be around to see it. Can you say Matt Millen? I really liked Millen, but he was a terrible GM.

I hope no one gets fired because someone is angry with them. I hope people get fired because it is the right thing to do.

Just stop, really are you bringing Matt Millen into this?  Were the lions 33-15 in his first three seasons?  No, they weren't.

Grigson has gotten far more right than wrong.  He has pieced together a solid team from the ashes of a 2-14 season and the offseason cleanout of an entire organization.

So yeah the Richardson trade did not work out how they hoped, so what it happens.  They gave up one pick for him.  They didn't give up an RGIII type haul to get him.

People that blame Grigson have no idea how hard it is to build a competitive roster.  You cannot build an entire team overnight.  I am sure he would love to have a better o-line and for Richardson to have worked out.  They arent the Yankees, you cant just buy who you want.

  16. So you are not alarmed with his propensity to throw interceptions or the beating he is taking?  Okay, good to know.

That is the root of why I made that statement.  He is at a crossroads right now, hopefully he will keep improving, and I think he will.  This staff though, is not helping him at the moment.

Not really, given how often he throws the ball his int percentage is not that out of wack.

The fans jumping off the ledge need to get a freakin grip, I mean really.  Did you forget what 2-14 felt like?  It wasn't that long ago that it occurred.  That and virtually the entire team except literally just a few players are different.  That is almost a full turnover of the roster in THREE years.

They are fine, they will be fine, sure they aren't the Broncos or Patriots but get a grip folks.

If at the end of the 2-14 season someone would tell any of us Colts fans that after some house cleaning the Colts would finish with 10+ years the next three years, make the playoffs every year, and win at least one playoff game EVERYONE would have taken it.

Aside from a few moves, Grigson has done a great job managing the cap.  What other team is playing so many key undrafted rookies.  The 12 and 14 drafts were excellent.  The team is still building BUT they are winning a lot of games while doing it.
